    -If i ve honest to you, i was never a Senna fan.
    i always tought Gilles Villeneuve was the greatest racing driver of them all.
    but, to make this film, i've watched hours and hours and hours of footage and the thing is, Villeneuve was spectacular on a number of accasions, Senna he was spectacular every single time he got in a car.

    One of my treasured moments during qualifying in 1991 at Silverstone out of a crowd of approximately 200 I was the only one that waved with my arms reaching up as high as possible to Senna as he went past it was then he lifted his right hand from gripping the steering wheel and made a wave hand to reply to my wave. That something I am very proud of!
    Senna you’ll always be a real gentleman!

      I was at silverstone 91,92,93 Friday practice to race day I was 15 in 91 and my dad and me used to go to copse right on the apex
      My dad was a mansell fan and I was a senna fan and I remember him calling senna a wsnker everytime he went past 😂
      Little did I know those were to be some of the best days of my life.
      We walked the track after and only now I can apriciate how privlaged I was
      You must feel very special when your remembering those moments and yes you are privaliged to even get a wave from Ayrton

    "Ayrton Senna never died.
    He is just a lap ahead from the rest of us", someone once wrote.
    30 years ago I lost my idol, inspiration, the older brother I never had and to whom I looked upon with admiration.
    I came to hate May 1st. And 30 years on it still hurts as if it was yesterday. A day that left me totally numb for a long time, as I wished every second to wake up from an awfull nightmare. One of the saddest days of my life. It was SO unfair!!!
    I miss you my Brother. I have tears in my eyes. I hope that there is an afterlife to see you race again.

      ⭐In 1989 the normally aspirated engines arrived and many thought that Senna would lose some of his amazing speed without turbos. But Ayrton remained supremely fast in all conditions. While going around corners he still refused to take his foot off the gas pedal, a technique he learned as a kid during his karting years.
      Ayrton Senna actually believed he had the God-given right to win. His trust in divine intervention helped him to go faster than he normally could have. Being guided by a higher power enhanced his performance beyond what it would have been without religion. His faith made all the difference. Ayrton had an unshakable belief that he was fulfilling God's will.
      He prepared himself better than any other driver before, both physically and mentally. He was an innovator in using sport psychology, physical, and mental trainer Nuno Cobra before anyone else in Formula 1. He used techniques to control his breathing and relax when he was becoming over-aroused. These methods allowed him to concentrate at almost superhuman level and get into the zone almost at will during races.
      Gerhard Berger: Once he was focused he didn't feel any pain or stress. Nothing. Damon Hill: He talked about a state of mind he got into whereby he was there, but not really driving the car. Prost describes how, after a race at Monaco, Ayrton explains how he monitored his performance during the race itself: He managed to visualize from a 'third person' perspective (i.e. as if watching from outside) during the race and corrected his mistakes.
      Ayrton Senna had the qualities to be the best racing driver of his time, and that is exactly what he was. His tombstone simply reads:
      'Nothing can separate me from the love of God'

      His passion for racing was such that he sometimes got transported in to another world. Some called him a genius. The eye of the tiger, you could have seen in Senna eyes. Whatever it was, Ayrton had that aura, his enthusiasm, inquisitiveness and energy was infusive. Alain Prost believed him to be a madman who thought God was his co-pilot.

      In 1994, we lost a champion and an equally great man. Such was his greatness that an Austrian flag was found in his car after the crash. It was a flag Senna was going to raise in the honour of Austrian Roland Ratzenberger who had died on the same track just a day before.

      He was the "pantomime villain" to us, the man who was denying "Our Nige". I wish I had known and appreciated then, what I know now 20 years later. Ayrton Senna was the greatest driver in F1, and an amazing human being too. I often find myself wondering what would have happened had he lived. Would he now be a humanitarian working with UNICEF or the UN? President of Brazil even?
      As for the quote posted - It's one of the most inspirational things I've ever heard.

      I find it funny you to say that, Mike, because I would not believe in this 2 years ago.
      Brazil is currently under a severe political crisis.
      Our "known" politicians are all under heavy scrutiny because they are all under serious accusations of being corrupted.
      Our next presidential elections are in the next year, and honestly, a fair share of the population is dissatisfied about their options. I believe Senna would've won if he was alive now. Seriously. And even though I don't like mixing TV celebrities and politics, I would vote for him, given our situation.

      At least two titles. Probably three (95, 96 and 97) and maybe more.
      To be teammate with Schummi would be impossible since both of them wouldn't accept be nº2.
      Schummi was very good, one of the best ever for sure, but he couldn't stand pressure to win a title, and that was his main flaw in my opinion. He fell to both Villeneuve (in a shameful fashion) and Hakkinen, good but nothing special drivers at all. He would even lose to Hill, shouldn't he do that ridiculous manoeuver at Adelaide. Whenever Schumacher faced real, tough competition, he fell. He only worked best with top team working exclusively for him, including his teammate.
      Senna, in other hand, was forged in those horrible times of the 80's. He was a competition machine as were Prost, Mansell, Piquet and many other tough contenders unwilling to submit to anyone. They're not in the same league.
      Maybe Schumacher would evolve himself in this regard if Senna stayed alive, I think he would.

    • @skizzysmith1146
      @skizzysmith1146 9 місяців тому

      you are right about the mystique. It is impossible to compare F1 drivers of different periods, so much changes, so you have to express your feelings about their character, and leave the driving, the speed, the results, to one side, those are for others to argue about! There are several drivers who I admired, not in any order, so, Fangio, Moss Senna, Clark, Stewart, Bell. I was lucky to meet Stuart, Moss and Bell. I helped a friend race a Ferrari 250 swb berlinetta several times, he shared the driving at Goodwood with both Bell and Moss, on different years, their best times were the same. Derek Bell was great to talk to, very helpful to my wife and I, both amateur racers of historic Formula Junior cars. One time, in the pits, Moss's wife needed a chair, I got one from the office, put it down, and Stirling promptly sat in it! No comment! Anyway, Senna did have something about him, and it was a tragedy that a faulty weld to the steering column caused it to break, and his terrible crash. May he enjoy another life beyond this one he deserves it.

      Cool to mention he was breaking the records of the official drivers on the tests and with Brabham at Paul Richard Piquet later said in an interview after Ayrton's passing he made a $100k bet with Bernie that Senna wouldn't beat his time, he said he knew Paul Richard sucked during the afternoon and that there was no way someone would be faster than a time set in the morning then he did his lap early in the morning so he wouldn't let the rookie beat his time. Exactly same here, my dream is to get into F1, and I have been saving my money since I was about 11 or so, I'm 16 now and hopefully this year sometime I can start. When I really started seriously thinking about becoming a racecar driver was when my dad and I would go to track events and he would drive his car on track with me in it, and I absolutely loved the feeling of going fast. Its better than any other feeling, but at the same time I can't explain it. I started driving fourwheelers when I was about 5 years old, and was horrible, first time I got on a little fourwheeler I crashed into my mom's SUV lol, but ever since I have improved. I got to where I could ride it on the side two wheels, and my mom was terrified, but my dad knew. I started karting at events at a track. The first actual timed racing event I won out of 20 something kids, and I still have a trophy framed with my picture. A kid's parent said I didn't look the fastest because of how smooth I was, and I have had this want to be a racing driver. It's hard at times when I don't get a nice car and I get picked on because I want to save my money for racing instead of nice things, but I hope it is all worth it. I want to bring America back into Formula 1, and that is my goal, I'm truly lucky to have parents that are willing to support my dream and not kill me for not going to college. I wish you luck my friend, and hopefully some day we can be rivals.

      Reels Rihard Although a driving sport, it's still a very different sport. Rally drivers are meant to drive in tough terrain not meant to be driven on. It's about who's best when all conditions are against you. F1 emphasizes more on who's best when the conditions are meant for everyone to be at full driving potential; which is why F1 cars had 1,200 hp engines with huge slick tires meant for sharp turning, while rally cars, although modded to high hell, are modded more for performing in rugged terrain, which is why AWD cars are a necessity to even compete.

    • @COLDoCLINCHER37
      @COLDoCLINCHER37 5 років тому

      Reels Rihard shut up loser, group B drivers aren't God, they just so happened to be the best at driving on rugged terrain with strenuous training. There is a reason why F1 is called the pinnacle of Motorsport. There is no evidence to support that rally drivers are the best drivers on the planet just because they drive of road doesn't mean they will be instantly great on tarmac. By your logic I guess those that race planes or dirtbikes are the best, since the conditions they race in are much more hostile.

    • @riemannx1
      @riemannx1 5 років тому +1

      Reels Rihard No way man! What are you talking about? I watch both for many years now and I can say that. There's a reason why f1 drivers are called Pilots. Rally drivers for sure they have a very hard task but they are not Gods. They are meant to drive like that aka drifting. If f1 drivers were also trained from young age even later, they would do the same. Have you seen Hakkinen's drift in the snow? I mean it was just a small demonstration for the purpose of Top Gear but you can realise what I 'm trying to say. That it is fairly easy for a pilot to do anything. The speed and acceleration differences are chaotic between these 2 sports. Nothing compares to F1. Period. Ah almost forgot. The most important...Overtaking. Do you think it's harder to just trying to make the best time alone even with difficult environmental conditions or actually fight with 20 pilots for so many laps? Rally is just as the qualifying session in f1. The race is where you get all those amazing performances that the whole world memorises for decades. That is the actual proof that make f1 drivers unique and incomparable in people's eyes. Pure skills can only be seen there.

      @Kb-go5qm 5 років тому

      @@riemannx1 as a fan of both I can say with confidence that while F1 drivers are definitely at the pinnacle of driving, but group B was in another realm of its own. Those cars were not only modded to beyond what anyone imagined was possible the drivers oh god the drivers were just something not from this world. While F1 is definitely what comes to mind when one thinks of the best in precision driving, really takes a step further. Averaging 130+kph on a constantly changing track while dealing with variables such as people being on the track and massive cliff drops, I can't even begin to fathom the rate their minds were calculating every move. During that Era F1 drivers drove cars that wanted to kill them while Rally drivers especially Group B drive cars that not only wanted to eat them alive but as well as everyone around them, true demons. It's an unfair comparisons as they requirements to be the best in either are similar yet completely different
