    Wow, what a maze of caves. I never considered before how David grew up in an area with caves, which probably helped train him to be able to use them for refuge later in life (ex. 1 Samuel 22). And to be reminded of the family lineage (Naomi, Boaz, Jesse, David..... shepherds, Jesus!). As always, what a wonderful video segment!

      I didn't realize ancient cave networks could be so intricate. It makes the story in 1 Samuel 24 of David and his men hiding in a cave while Saul was relieving himself more believable!

    Thank you Very Much, Sergio & Rhoda !!! { appreciate your Sense of Humor !! } But Oi !!! I recall feeling similar claustrophobia while touring tunneling "Aqua ducts' in Israel... Love seeing the Shepherds' fields near Bethlehem !! . . . . "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures: And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures" 1 Cor. 15: 1- 4

    Psalm 149:6-9 KJV
    Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand; [7] To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; [8] To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; [9] To EXECUTE upon them the JUDGEMENT WRITTEN : this honour have all his saints. Thanks guys. More than we needed to know. But it's easy to see how there would have been lots of places for the Holy Family to go and also for Jesus to be born. We saw a big shepherd cave where they brought the sheep in the rain and cold. We also saw the big Palestinian store and restaurant below where we had some very good sandwiches.

    I just watch this episode and was delighted. Have you, by chance, read saint Catherine Emerick's book about the visions of the cave where Jesus was born? It's pretty close to her description. This episode gave me a real approach of what it could have been. Thank you so much! Good bless you both =)

    • @danieljust295
      @danieljust295 3 роки тому +1

      It is most likely that Jesus was born near the Tower of the Flock (Migdal Edar), near Bethlehem, not in cave.
      According to Jewish customs sacrificial sheep could come from ONLY this field near Migdal Edar (Tower of the Flock).
      Jesus birth (and birth place) was prophesied by Micah:
      Mic 4:8 And thou, O tower(Migdal) of the flock(Eder), the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
      Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
      Gen 35:19-21 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem. And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel’s grave unto this day. And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.
      Location:
      Bethlehem , Ephrath , tower of Edar, which is tower of the flock, in Hebrew Migdal Edar
      Manger was placeholder for sacrificial sheep at the bottom of the tower. There must have been only one tower because the shepherds (who were also priests) knew where to go (they knew the scriptures) , so the Tower of Edar is unique landmark.
      Most likely Jesus was born near this tower and placed in manger at the bottom of the tower which means Jesus was sacrificial sheep.
      Emmerich had inaccurate vision ...

    A few inaccuracies: this site is not in Betlehem, it's in a town named Beit Sahur right next to Bethlehem. Also, Ruth didn't come back to Bethlehem. She was a Moabite who married Naomi's son. So, when she followed Naomi to Bethlehem it was her first time there.

    • @danieljust295

    • @gilbregman4646
      @gilbregman4646 3 роки тому +1

      @@danieljust295 as far as I understand there is no agreement on the exact location of Migdal Eder. Some think it was actually where Shepherds' Field is today.

    • @gilbregman4646
      @gilbregman4646 3 роки тому +1

      @@danieljust295 in 1927 a modern village was founded named "Migdal Eder", after the Bibilical name. A little south of Bethlehem, on the road to Hebron. But, this village was deserted 2 years later. Notice that Sheperds' Field is a little more than a mile east of the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem.

    The Greek word in Luke 2:8: ἀγραυλοῦντες agraulountes has in part the word "Agriculture". The field the shepherds were abiding in were agricultural fields. The Greek has a different word for wild fields/pastures. Interesting the association of the field the shepherds were in to that of Boaz's barley fields. What is interesting about all this, is that the barley farmers and the sheepherders had an arrangement to let the sheep into the fields after the harvest to glean the stubble (after the human gleaning like Ruth). The sheep would be fed and leave behind fertilizer. What else can we learn from this? Well, the barley harvest takes place in the spring, just before Passover, as the Feast of Fruits at the end of the Passover week, is primarily driven by this barley harvest. We learn from this that Jesus's birth was in the spring, at Passover time, not in Dec. Add in that the Inns were full from Passover attendees, and the shepherds are out all night only during the spring lambing seasons. That Joseph paid his temple tax (Passover activity)! Wow, amazing......

    One can easily see how these caves also may have protected herds of sheep in the night & also provide shelter for Mary to give birth.
    Were there any mangers in there ?

    I have been studying the first century Christians (including Mother Mary and Christ)---the Bible rarely says 'cave'--but if you really look at the buildings that have been excavated from those times--they are all caves--these people lived in caves, worshipped in caves, did business in caves--this was a way of life...Jesus was born in a cave, was buried in a cave, the home of Joseph and Mary in Nazareth was in a cave, the synagogues were in caves, a lot of Jerusalem was built into a cave...it was all about caves (in order to survive in the desert)--so when the Bible says home, church, inn, synagogue, or any other living space--think CAVES...it is all about CAVES (these people were essentially cave people)...it gives me an entirely different perspective of their lives...dts/usa

    It's sad that every place that happens to be of religious significance the Roman Catholics built a Church over it and destroyed the original site. I want to see what it looked like back in the day the events happened not after they've covered it over with ugly buildings!

    • @SnR

      Hi Michael, we truly understand the frustration, so here's how we think about it, if the archeological places are not in the hands of the catholic church (which is financed enough to sustain these places), they might as well have been destroyed. Many archeological places in Israel have so many fights over them from many sides and religions (the Temple Mount for example). So as much as we would have loved to see those places in their raw form, we accept what we have and are thankful we can even see a bit of it.

      Hi Sergio/Rhoda, I started watching your videos only couple of days back. It takes eternity to record a song for me. I know for a fact, its not at all easy to come up with such quality content. How are you guys making so many of them so quick ? Do you make song videos for Messianic jews ? In between I like listening to (Micha'el Ben David) ua-cam.com/video/9hdG1aXlExI/v-deo.html

    • @SnR
      @SnR  5 років тому

      Hi Jabin, We have been doing the videos for almost 2 years. At first we were using our phones, but then we bought a camera and microphones for speech clarity. Little by little we started improving the quality and the content. At first, we never planned for this honestly, it sort of just happened. But after sometime, we started to script, and to plan our filming and our time. We don't really have a lot of time. We both work, so we take breaks from uploading ad editing, and we go film a lot of material, then Sergio edits and posts once a week. The editing takes the most time.

      Thank you for your comment, it does take a lot of time. We don't make the music for the videos, we are subscribed to artlist.io and thats where we get it. We haven't done any song videos for Messianic Jews.

      I was just about to ask from where u get the sounds for ur videos. Artist.io ? Cool.. Me and wife wanted to video cover the beautiful landscape of romania. But everything got indefinitely shelved after we got our baby. But neway, I salute both of you for taking ur spare time to come up with such brilliant content for Yeshua. Shalom and God bless. Special mention: Sergio must be a born genius when it comes to editing.

    Those caves May be the places where the shepperds were hiding and living. We all know they were persecuted after the Holly family escaped the danger and fled to Egypt. They were in horible position because after the Betlehem children were killed people were mad at them. They blame the shepperds for saying that Jesus is the Chosen one. That He is the new King of Israel. So maybe those caves weren't just the places to live in during the sheep watching, but also places to hide from the citizents of Betlehem after the slaughter of babies. And later the others could use those places to live there. You know that those who were sick were not allowed to come near the others. And they lived often amongst the old graves. Maybe some of them lived there.
