Without a doubt my favorite DMB song...You can hear in his voice though Dave was a different dude when he wrote this - younger, a little idealistic, more optimistic about the world and hopeful for its residents...Beautiful song
it is a bold statement two years ago to say that. I'm not sure my favorite. Right now it is Pantala Naga Pampa, but that is circumstantial for sure, but damn that Listener Supported version is good. Hope you're well. thanks for the nice comment
The studio version is found on “Platinum Christmas” - according to the R2T liner notes the only studio cuts are Seek Up and Minarets from Flat Five Studios.
That's because it was designed that way...used to be a pretty popular thing back in the day...put it aa close to your eyes as you can and then slowly pull it away from them without taking your eyes off of it and it will appear everytime...☝️💜
It’s subject to some degree of interpretation, obviously. The image clearly contemplates the role of the viewer. Here, before the advent of cable television, the viewer, while tripping on acid, cannot achieve a clear air signal via rabbit ears on his/her television set. “Snow” we called it, as seen through purple-tinged, LSD induced, lenses. (See Hendrix, “Purple Haze.”) I see this as a comment on modernity and all its trappings, accompanied by a nostalgic longing for the youthful optimism of 60s counterculture. That of course is but one interpretation.
Funny for dave to record a song about christianity when he doesnt even believe in it. Sure talks a lot about god, jesus and prayers in his songs for someone who doesnt believe. Makes ya wonder :)
This song is not about religion; its about faith and sacrifice. Makes ME wonder what is holding you back from experiencing His word. Remember two things...
Hi Graham, I just stumbled on to your spot-on post. I've been fascinated with the same. Seek Up for sure, Bartender is a prayer, his cover of The Maker, also seeker-type mentions in Squirm, Raven, Grey Street, Time Bomb,...so many more. ...I actually pray for the Dave and all the band guys, like I do for friends...I think they're like a lotta people who have a deep or grounded sense of God but lack of excitement or agreement with activities of religious and/or quasi-religious people. Just one take...Merry Christ-mas to you, -D
Then don't listen! This song is up for personal perspective. If you believe that it is inaccurate; read some more of the Bible. You will then understand. Bless you and your subconscious. You will be saved.
Love this...every year🌲🎅🌲

All soul searchers...like you and me. Searching for love .
Best Song Ever.
Love the begining of this
While not strictly "tingly", this was ASMR before ASMR was defined. I valued it as such.
Love is what all you need
I love this tune Dave Matthews did an excellent job putting this one together, Thank you DMB 👍👃
Here in 2022
Thought provoking

I have "Platinum Christmas", which I purchased 20 years ago. I'm going to guess f.y.e. is where.
Sometimes when I look at this image I can see a hand shaped in peace...

Does your version skip?

This isnt Dave. But i still love it.
What are you talking about? This is Dave. If you have Remember Two Things this is the exact version. It's been the same since 93.
Jennifer Byrd Including the long instrumental jazz outro.
Dude - you're goofy. Of course it's Dave.
Dean Puckett this is totally Dave, I’ve seen him play it live

@@MeerkatMoon don't worry Graham; Jesus loves you! I hope you have a fantastic new year!
Your most staunch atheists know, and talk about, religion more than your theists.

These lyrics are SO biblically inaccurate.
