Thank you for coming to Bali Province, Indonesia. You have just visited one of 17.000 more islands of Indonesia, so i think you have tried less then one percent of indonesian food which is balinese. Hope you can come here again and visit the other city, island, and province of Indonesia. There are alot of different cultures and food in every province here.

I LOVE that you both try out and appreciate the local culinary scenes. Most vlogs in Bali just showcase the 'Bali bowl' and avo on toast, when really Bali is so much more than that. As an Indonesian, I thank you!

Those "crisps" or "crackers" at the first place I think are shrimp chips, or at least they look exactly like the shrimp chips I used to serve at the Chinese restaurant where I first worked when I was 18. But it's Asia, they _could_ be anything. I have to say I've enjoyed watching Eric's growth regarding the capsicums. Remember when he couldn't eat *anything* with *any* heat to it? I sure do! Way to *grow,* Eric! Way to grow.

amazing video! I’m from Bali, bubur ayam and rendang it is actually more to indonesian foods than balinese food, but definitely you guys should try it!, and another dish that i’d recommend to you guys is Ikan bakar.. easier to translate to grilled fish, it is balinese cuisine originally from south of bali

If there's any justice in the world, some day soon you'll get to the Sing Kee dai pai dong in Hong Kong Central District! I still sometimes literally dream about it over a year after eating there, seen a couple of UA-camrs have been there this past year or so too; it's a joy to see people's faces when they taste the food :D
Taylor R made a video on here the other week about dai pai dongs and their history and culture (I'd never heard of her before this month but her recent series covering Hong Kong food is extreaordinary, you'd both dig it!)

      - try Balinese mixed rice (Nasi Campur Bali). I guess the Nasi Campur in the video is not a Balinese one as it can be commonly found in food stalls in Jakarta and other cities in Java.
it's still good tho. It's just that you might wanna look for the Balinese version (looks like the babi guling at the end of the video).
      - Also there's actually 2 versions of Ayam betutu - the dry version (ayam betutu goreng) or the soup version (ayam betutu kuah).
Personally I like the soup version (kuah) cause they make the chicken drenched in a yellow soup made of herbs and spices. It can be a little bit spicy tho.
      - Babi Guling that they tried in the video is also a must
      - Try Lawar (you cant find this dish other than in Bali)
      Greetings from Indonesia.

Some people get so offended when a person checks to make sure the spice level is ok for you. I think that is so incredibly polite and kind. They want you to enjoy your meal and it is not some racists thing or prejudice to ask. It is much better to ask you then to serve you a way less seasoned meal because they assume you cant take spice. I love that you just tasted it and told her it was yummy

Yum yum. Good video, it was very authentic Balinese chicken 🐔 betutu. And, most travelers from other neighboring island such people from Jakarta might look for this local culinary recipe. There's one this popular local Balinese dish in the airport, once you landed in south Denpasar ones is around side road on the way to Bedugul area. I love chicken, also top side meat Rendang, originally from authentic neighboring Indo island of Sumatra. Rendang Padang, a recipe with dried coconut and my favorite with my kapolaga, the Saudi vegetable kind of spicy 🔥 hot makes you sweat when you eating it. But, of course suggestion is, try to get the hygiene food when you get street culinary, to prevent diarrhea which is much common and bothering disease. Stay hygiene and hydrate. Enjoy your time with local fantastic Balinese culinary and cuisine 👍

I will be going to Bali in a week or so. Quick question, how safe are the ice in the Warung as I have heard advice we shouldn't have any icy drink, thanks in advance

    • @Theendlessadventure

We had ice at dozens of places across the island and never had any issues. Most places we saw in Bali got their ice from vendors so it's delivered regularly in sealed bags. Of course it's always a possibility at any restaurant that things can get contaminated, but from our experience, it was okay 👍

I love your food vlog so much. Just an advice, you can order only half portion of rice in Indonesia.

You guys always seem to find the best places to eat! Everything looks amazing. Are there any dishes you would NOT recommend, especially for someone who doesn't typically go for spicy foods?

Laura L most bali's food is kind of spicy..
But many restaurants have international dishes, so it would be safe for tourist who mostly dont like spicy food.. 😄

Some Indonesian foods are cooked with sambal/chilli sauce while other dishes use sambal as accompaniment. Food sellers usually understand that foreign tourists can't handle the spice and put sambal chili separately in a small container. Otherwise, tell them "tidak pedas" meaning "not spicy, please".

You're welcome. Indonesia consists of 17,000 islands and 500 ethnic groups who mostly live in 6 big islands. Each big island and smaller region will develop a preferred "flavor profile" and unfortunately "spiciness and strong flavors" mark Balinese food in general. Non spicy lovers can go to Central Java and Jogjakarta famous for their "sweet flavor profile" using palm sugar in signature dishes. Of course, there are still spicy food anywhere from Sumatra to Papua, because we are the Spice Islands anyway. Cheers!! :D :D :D :D :D

If you like food so much, make sure your next visit to Indonesia will be Malang (East Java) and Bandung (West Java) and Minahasa Selatan (3 hours from Manado). You witness and taste their local alcoholic drink being made. If the time is right i can go with u.
