    I'am french and my wife German. When we were younger we have travelled in Yugaslavia. In my memory, it is a beautiful country. Plitvice, Zadar, KrK (a funny name)...The people were very nice with us.
    It was our first trip together as student, and planned to visit Yugoslavia again.
    But it was the last time, the civil war began few time later.
    It was a catastrophe, the triumph of hath, racism, Nationalism and violence. The dream of a united Yugaslavia was transformed in a Nightmare.
    And it's not at end...until the balkan people find the way to live together again.

    Hello from your north eastern neighbors!🇷🇴 It is my dream that all of the working people in the Balkans will revolt against their capitalist overlords and unite to stand up to the west.
    Our Balkan identities are unique in the world as we have been at the border between the Occident and the Orient and we have a rich culture and history based on interactions with both of them. Nationalists and imperialists into the pit!

      It truly is depressing how many of us have turned reactionary,so deeply propagandised that we see the corrupt and thieving nature of capitalism in our "democracy" yet we blame it on communism and we have this infuriating inferiority complex,where we are the worst possible place in the world,but the west is the heaven we should emulate.
      I still hope,that as capitalism's contradictions are laid bare,as conditions worsen throughout the world,people will wake up once more,and the quislings who sold our nations out to the EU and NATO will pay dearly for what they did.

    Small but very curious and interesting extra:
    During the 50s and 60s, both Mexico and Yugoslavia were some of the more influential states in the Non-Aligned Movement and both socialist states experimenting with non-ML forms of market socialism. Thus they developed a strong relationship, leading to a lot of cultural exchanges. Most notably, was the huge appeal that Mexican cinema (then in its golden age) and music had in Yugoslavia, leading to the emergence of the Yumex genre of mariachi and ranchera music played in Serbo-Croatian.

    I thought I was the only one always feeling sad while listening to those beautiful songs…
    When I drive home from work, sometimes I listen to Zivela Jugolavija, sing along, imagine how it would be living in my homeland and then, always, tears find their way into my eyes as I realize that it‘s all gone… missing my family in serbia.
    I was born in germany, but my heart, body and soul belongs to 💙🤍❤️
    The only thing that makes it bearable is that I have many co workers from former ex jugoslavija. So we speak in our language, make our silly jokes and dream about a future where we‘ll all choose love and brotherhood over differences and hate.

    Amazing stuff from start to finish! And 2 songs of Zabranjeno Pušenje are extraordinary great reflection of events and emotions. Once I stumbled upon their earlier song from 1987, Srce, ruke i lopata. And while it is filled with such joy and optimism, it feels to me that it captures a feeling of a society being on a verge of losing its integrity. Thanks a lot for translating lyrics to English! As a Bulgarian I really get upset sometimes that we were the only South Slavic country to not be a part of Yugoslavia, but in the same time I don’t. Do you plan to make a video where you talk about your opinion on how and why Bulgaria was excluded by the other Yugoslavs? I personally find this topic interesting because the south Slavic countries are not that many and it’s weird that only one was totally cut off its other brother nations. Nice video by the way : )

      Uncle Joe (Stalin) didn't want Bulgaria to become part of some Tito/Yugoslav-led South Slavic federation; that's why Bulgaria never joined us. Even Albania was in that plan-same thing : Uncle Joe said 'Hell no.'

      @@jovanalipovac5968 Mostly yes. We Bulgarians and Serbs really fought over stupid things. I hope we can develop more culture connections because we do have many similarities like language, culture, and the fact that we are the both part of the South Slavic family.

    • @jovicatrpcevski209
      @jovicatrpcevski209 Рік тому

      Yes Ma'am : that's another very valid reason - especially with the segment of the Bulgarian population that was originally from Macedonia ; as far as they're concerned, their hatred for the Serbs & any state wherein they dominate is undying.

    • @jovicatrpcevski209
      @jovicatrpcevski209 Рік тому

      Macedonia is about the stupidest thing anybody would fight over. Macedonia would have to be the Afghanistan of the Balkans insofar as it,too,is a 'graveyard of empires'. Everybody in that region knows who/what they are except its Slavs : they can become 'Macedonian', Serbian, Bulgarian, or whatever, shamelessly, at the drop of a hat. I can't think of a more treacherous people than these. I wouldn't trade one of my Catholic Albanian or Croatian friends for 1,000 of these Orthodox hoes.
