😉Eddie was an alien from Musicus Prime. A planet where everyone was born knowing how to play an instrument. Unfortunately, Eddie was the sole survivor. Having been put into an escape pod by his parents before the asteroid hit. 😔Rest in Peace, Eddie Van Halen. GOAT guitarist!!!
Not only was he self taught, he could not read music. He learned by listening and watching. He built his own guitar and later on rebuilt the amps he had and then started having them manufactured and sold. He also redesigned the string for the guitar so he could get to the highest pitch without break the strings. He was a musical and technical genius.
Eddie Van Halen and Stevie Ray Vaughn are both always in the top 5 guitarists in polls. I lean more to Eddie just because that's my kind of music. I've been fortunate enough to see Van Halen in concert 3 times and they do not disappoint. Well, they did not. The world lost a legend when we lost Eddie Van Halen
I'm a big fan of great guitarist, Stevie Ray, EVH, are at the top of my list, going to throw three names you may not know because they are Country artists, but also great guitarist, Roy Clark, Glen Campbell and Jerry Reed all in my top ten.
So cool watching you "kids" enjoy what we old rockers been jamming to since you were in diapers...or before. When this album came out I had just moved to a Colorado ski town. I cranked up Eruption and the stunned locals came out into the street to see what was going on. I came out and told them that this is Van Halen and it's the future of Rock. Nobody disagreed. Todays music is good. It's progressed and is smoothly processed for the intended audience. We did things different back then. Sorry but I would prefer a big screen of Eddy and a small one for you watching. Switch when you comment. Being honest. So awesome to hear you feeling called to take up guitar! Shout out to Dad Rock for excellent guitar lessons on UA-cam. It's all there. You can do it! That is exactly how each of us felt too. I need to feel that energy. It will be mine. Oh yes it will.
Eddie, SRV, David Gilmore - all greats in their own genres. You can't really call one better than the other. If it's blues you want you gotta go with Stevie, straight trashing and speed go to Eddie, for pure emotion and sustain Gilmore is the master. And so many others out there like Clapton, Angus, Jimi, Satriani, Page, Lifeson, Yingwe, all so awesome in their own unique way that they inspire the axe players to be.
Many incredible players like Eddie, SRV, Jimi, Clapton and Page, have inspired millions of others to buy and learn to play. However, Eddie may be responsible for making the most people just put the one they were trying to learn, back in the closet. When he emerged on the scene, his style was so different and intimidating, he was miles ahead of most of his audience most of the time.
Lots of great guitarists out there. There is only ONE EVH. He was special.
Absolutely
Amen.

Wow thanks for the enlightenment
So true! They are all GOATS in their own niche. 🔥🔥🔥
Eddie was a classically-trained pianist who wanted to be a rock drummer.
This is how to fail successfully.
Incredible
Rest in Peace Eddie ❤
So many brilliant musicians in this world. My personal favorite is Richie Kotzen and I love his band The Winery Dogs.
good to hear your thought
GOAT
To you from Texas, its is pronounced Stevie RAY Vaughan. Not Stevie Vaughan. Cheers, and I hope you and your family have a great holiday season!
Thanks for that!
The late great Eddie Van Halen 🎸
Stevie Ray Vaughan is great but with this performance from Van Halen I'm just left speechless
Like seriously
You must be feeble minded, my 14 year old son can make that same NOISE this idiot just did!
