I actually have the Shrek cup, but my mom heard about the recall almost as soon as we got it so we never drank from it and it just sits indefinitely in the cabinet above the dishwasher.
Yeah, never drink from them, EVER. If you’re going to buy some Shrek Glass Cups from McDonald’s, I would recommend using them as a display in a Glass Case in something
I remember having those when I was 7 and I think we got rid of them not long after hearing the news on them. I still have my Shrek the Third ones though.
I just stumbled upon this video today. I've been using one of these glasses since 2010 probably! I had no idea. I doubt the heavy metal is any more toxic then the whiskey I've been drinking out of it. 😆 Thanks for the info. Guess ima retire my Donkey glass.
I remember this! When I was younger, (in elementary school,) I heard about that recall. My mom told me about it. As a huge Shrek fan growing up, we went to our local McDonald's, and she bought those glasses for me. Thankfully, I've never drank anything out of them, though, which was a good thing. So after we heard about this recall, we didn't take them back to McDonald's. We decided to keep them. My mom kept the Shrek glasses locked inside our old china cabinet, and I kept them as collectibles. I used to have the Shrek The Third glasses as well. I had all of them, except for the one with The Ogre Babies on it.
This was a very fascinating video and you did a good job describing the situation. I remember when me and my family got McDonald's when these were out, and there was a sign in the drive thru that listed these cups, with the caption "Stopped Using." Believe it or not, a few years prior in around 2007, there was another massive recall for many toys from companies like Mattel. These toys included things like Thomas Wooden Railway James, die-cast model of Sarge from Pixar's Cars, and plenty of Dora and Barbie related toys to name a few. If you're interested in doing another video like this, I'd recommend looking into that incident. Great work!
Terrifying. Just terrifying. Thank goodness no one got hurt from those cups. And another thing, is it really that loud outside? Random question but I’m just wondering.
Daniel T., you explained so damn well about cadmium, which reminds me! What's cadmium's favorite music genre? *Heavy metal.* Also, that part where you showed that fast food, regardless of the company that produces it, contains phthalates... you know what? This is just the first *and only* time in my life I'm joining the Vegan Teacher. See you until all animals are safe!
I remember getting all of them as a little kid then got them taken away from me and not understanding why. Seeing that thumbnail was a nostalgic rush. I want to say I may have at least one cup still.
I've got the even rarer Shrek The Third Cadmium tinted cups from 07. Lol we knew not to use them all those years ago but they're definitely one of the coolest display pieces I've got, i've got a Shrek and a Fiona. I had a donkey but he broke :( the forever after ones are far more common but for whatever reason a lot of the Shrek the 3rd ones show up in my local thrift store despite their rarity
I looked at thumbnail and thought "Oh, I have one of those", then I checked and it was the shrek the third glass. But I could've sworn I had the shrek forever after one. (I was born in 2006) EDIT: I just found multiple shrek forever after ones in my dishwasher
I owned the Shrek book and it wasn't bad tbh. I also once had that one book with an Egyptian mummy and other things I used to have when I first got them.
I have one of these, I got it from a thrift store, but I had no idea about the glasses getting recalled and stuff so I pretty much drank out of it every day. I’m alive btw
You were like "I'm not going to end the video here by saying haha Shrek funny" but all you did in the rest of the video is show us the glasses once again and go "haha this chemical bad" without anything else meaningful to say. I would have probably gotten more out of reading a news article from back when this happened. You didn't even talk about what could have happened to someone who came into contact with too much of this poison. I'm not saying all this to be rude or anything: I know making videos is time-consuming and hard but I am disappointed at how little this video has to say compared to how much effort you put into the presentation.
So they’re probably safe in small amounts, but dangerous with ogre-use
Yea
make sure you done ogre-dose
It's all ogre now.

I am surprised McDonalds made a fragile-based product like the glass cups on kid’s Happy Meals

@Paradox Hollow I still use it
I could be wrong but it wasn't a kids meal toy but you could buy it for $3 from McDonald's
@@CrappyMusic-cb6bl You're Right.
I actually have some of these myself. These are a very cool collectable but they definitely ARE dangerous and really should only be used for display

I had the shrek one and threw that shit in the dumpster outside my house
I've drunk from them for years now

Shrek the third glass cups doesn't contain cadmium. So it's okay.

Garfield mugs had the same problem back then
