Possibly someone else already said this, but: Mine didn't die at that point in the manga for an important reason. She was a super giant red herring, throwing death flags, fighting and almost dying. But she manages to pull through after doing the whole "love confession before dying" and her and Tatsumi do spend some time as a couple. One of the few times where a character SURVIVING is the plot twist, since the author intentionally used the tropes he was abusing (backstory of a character right before killing them) and turned it on its head (readers EXPECTED her to die like all the others, but she doesn't) Doesn't mean the result was worth it, but the author didn't abuse the trope due to a lack of skill. Honestly it’s interesting to see a show that cares so little about it’s plot and world building to focus so much on individual character drama. At least that’s what I remember from when I was 15
Well actually it’s realistic, since time it’s self is just the expansion of the universe which is caused by a lot of energy being produced so theoretically a drastic reduction in heat and energy would slow down the particles of the universe expanding and result in time stopping.

This got recommended on my feed. Glad it did. Hilarious abridging and love reels. It feels like ages since i saw the show premiere, but i remember it was definitely a fun one. Thanks for bringing it back!
After watching his recap, I have come to the conclusion that I will never watch this show. At least, not until I read the manga first. I enjoyed his video, but holy shit. One of my favorite irritating tropes is the unexplained psychotic character who you absolutely hate because you can't find a good reason to hate or like the character. It hurts me, and I know the anime is missing the information that would end that needed anger sooner.
32:42 "how the fuck did she die? was that a chemo gun? did the laser give her mega cancer? did it boil her inside like a frog in the microwave, we'll never know." The Author:...you wanna tell him, or should i? The Audience: i think we should both tell him.
First anime I watched, i still can recall the three week depression it gave me after it ended. I came from a world where main characters didn't die and this anime say Oh yeah? Genocide and killed every single one. Every death was heartbreaking, but the flamethrower guy and Leone? Never recovered from it.
also in a genre known for treating life-ending attacks as mere scratches, it's very satisfying to see a top-to-bottom cleave depicted as being one-stroke devastating
Akame ga Kill is a really interesting case for me because I feel like it was an anime that was just designed to be an overcorrection for the standard Shonen that were so prevalent during that time. i vividly remember when I first watched Akame ga kill when it first came out and being genuinely shocked when those doors to the torture shed first opened up, seeing the state that his friends were in and i tried to process the huge tonal shift that had just happened before my eyes. My shock doubled when Tatsumi walked over to the noble girl and just straight cut her down without really saying anything. This first episode is what hooked me, I was so tired of main characters with no backbone in the oversaturated Shonen genre that when I watched this episode for the first time I was impressed. I was so glad to see a main character so different from what I was used to at the time that I fell in love with the show, despite its flaws, and from the popularity the show received I don't think I was the only one who shared this sentiment at the time. To me Tatsumi stood out from other main characters at the time in another important aspect that I feel like gets overlooked alot of the time, which is his relationship with Esdeath. I felt like alot of anime during that time had either the love interest completely falling in love with the main character for a weird ass reason but the main character was too thick to see it. Or the reverse happened where the main character is hopelessly in love with someone who is oblivious to this fact (think like SAO or Danmachi type beat). I remember liking how Tatsumi just straight up said "no" to Esdeath, and that aspect of him was something that I could really appreciate, and differentiates him from the rest of the MCs of that era. I could go on about more shit this story touched on, like the inner demon trope being actually scary, where bro faces genuine consequences for using the power , unlike in Naruto and such (bro actually turning into a dragon is wild). Which I thought was really cool, and I feel like set up JJK to take this concept further with Sukuna, but I digress. I'll be the first to admit that this show has a lot of flaws, it has excessive gore, poorly written villains and trauma dumping into character deaths galore. I feel like it tried so desperately to differentiate itself from other anime of that time by doing shit like this and as a result rather than subverting the Shonen genre it ended up overcorrecting into a bit of an edgy mess. it wouldn't be until JJk that I feel like a middle ground between this Shonen archetype and Akame ga kill is reached. In my eyes, JJK, hells paradise, and chainsaw man are successful subversions of the Shonen genre, which found a middle ground between the two and were able to catch the greater maturing viewer's attention while not sacrificing writing in the process. That being said, Akame ga Kill holds a special place in my heart as a guilty pleasure anime with hype ass action and overly ambitious goals, which I believe served as a stepping stone for future manga/anime to learn from its mistakes and become genuinely good modern day works. P.S, thanks for the videos bro, the time you put into these videos really shows. I really enjoy watching them and hearing your takes on stuff that I'm passionate about. I really appreciate it and keep up the solid work.
I can't be bothered to read all that but I will say that I despise the author's femdom fetish. It ruins all his stories. Esdeath is trash and the only people who like her r those who've never had a gf. Chained soldier is liked by bitches who don't know how normal humans act.
Agree but as someone with every hells paradise volume, that shit is pretty bad, the action is awful only like 2 main characters die and I couldnt care less abt them, the violence doesn't rlly look all that good and uhhh I think there's character devolpment? A lil bit? I hate jjk with a passion tho have a nice day

They also have the hidden capability (a common theme with Imperial Arts. Really enjoy this type of video from you. I think your personality is just so relaxed to put on in the background while doing something else you my man are the best Second monitor Content a viewer could dream of
The worst part about Akame-ga-kill is that the trick only works about twice. By the third time it becomes painfully obvious that whenever a character starts showing some kind of personality it's their turn to die. It was so transparent about it that I saw behind the curtain and it completely ruined the trope for me, whenever a character starts getting a little too much screen time compared to usual the voice in the back of my head goes, "Ahh, so that's the one they're killing off to make this story seem like it has stakes". It's ruined a lot of "impactful moments" for me, because I knew from the start the character was just a red shirt.
Some of the deaths were so stupid too, like that Seryu girl conveniently having an extra gun in her mouth to shoot Scissor lady. Or Akame's sister surviving having a needle shoved in her neck from her drug cookies.
I remember watching this series as it was airing along with my friends. One friend in the group got a late start, wanna say 6 or 8 episodes had already aired, and she really started to love the character Shelle, all of her friends were giggling and she didn't know why until she got to the episode where Shelle got eaten by the dog.
Her name is Sheele and I also absolutely loved her until the author shattered my dreams and killed her. I remember going depressed for a week after finishing this anime about 8 years ago the first time I watched this anime 😢😢

There's something about Akame Ga Kill that you can watch over and over. Painful deaths included.
Freezing time with ice-powers is such a stupid idea that it goes all the way back to being genius
Well actually it’s realistic, since time it’s self is just the expansion of the universe which is caused by a lot of energy being produced so theoretically a drastic reduction in heat and energy would slow down the particles of the universe expanding and result in time stopping.

I missed you so much damnit!

First anime I watched, i still can recall the three week depression it gave me after it ended. I came from a world where main characters didn't die and this anime say Oh yeah? Genocide and killed every single one. Every death was heartbreaking, but the flamethrower guy and Leone? Never recovered from it.
37:13 legitimately good use of angle and visual speed to give the visceral sense of being jumped
also in a genre known for treating life-ending attacks as mere scratches, it's very satisfying to see a top-to-bottom cleave depicted as being one-stroke devastating
ads better pay this guy so much bc i actually enjoy watching them
Akame ga Kill is a really interesting case for me because I feel like it was an anime that was just designed to be an overcorrection for the standard Shonen that were so prevalent during that time.
i vividly remember when I first watched Akame ga kill when it first came out and being genuinely shocked when those doors to the torture shed first opened up, seeing the state that his friends were in and i tried to process the huge tonal shift that had just happened before my eyes.

Oof man jjk ain’t lookin so good rn either, but we’ll see if gege can still cook after this Sukuna fight

Hold on bruh, Sheele's Scissors does have special properties. Outside of being incredibly sharp, they are pretty much unbreakable, and able to be used defensively as a shield as well as offensively. They also have the hidden capability (a common theme with Imperial Arts. Having a main ability and a hidden one.) of being able to produce a incredibly bright, blinding flash to obscure the opponents vision.

32:16 sone of the finest character development I’ve ever seen
lol
32:47 i always assumed her slamming into the wall obliterated her organs and was just bleeding out the whole fight
