The statue is indeed that of Hughie Mcllmoyle a CUFC icon. Hopefully you can get to a game one time :-) btw, it is McIlmoyle in the statue. He played for us on 3 separate occasions. Another interesting fact about the team is that, in our only time in the top flight, we had the same Goalkeeper as we had when we were in the bottom tier. I think he was the first player to do that. Allan Ross was the name if you're interested :-)

Thanks for the video, it's brilliant to see Brunton Park up close again. I haven't been to Brunton Park for almost a decade, it's a beautiful ground although it probably needs some modernizing. I was hoping to travel to the UK (I'm an Aussie who has supported Carlisle for more than 40 years) to see the Cumbrian derby this season, but COVID killed that dream. It's great to see Carlisle playing so well this season, I hope they can continue during the second half of the season and win promotion to League One.
I have great memories of my Dad taking me up to Brunton Park in the late 90s. The atmosphere was always incredible, warm, welcoming and family friendly. I am also privileged enough to have witnessed the ground full on a few occasions for special cup ties against Sheffield Wednesday (top of PL at time), Spurs and Arsenal. Thanks for the video!
Carlisle is an underappreciated city. It's got a beautiful centre good shopping and it's castle. It's also easy to do a day trip to from Scotlands Central belt by train.
I’m a Killie fan and a few seasons back when we did well in the seasons we got a bye to the next round in the league cup so our usual weekend match day wasn’t on as whoever we were playing had cup commitments. £10 for a train down to Carlisle and I went to a game, Carlisle Utd vs MK Dons. There is a link with my club as midfielder Gary Dicker was a Carlisle player.
Used to go up there for holiday, so I been to Brunton Park three times - I saw Cardiff City, Aston Villa and Celtic (a friendly) - so three games against clubs from three countries !
My team Guiseley played Carlisle in the FA Cup back in the early 90s. We lost 4-1 but had our record attendance of 6,000 as we played it at Bradford City's ground.

As a Carlisle United fan our fanbase if very proud of being English there would be no appetite for us to play in The Scottish League system what so ever but there is appetite amongst our fanbase for The Old Firm to play in the English League system a lot of our fan being unaware of What The Old Firm bring with them it not all being good.
Could Carlisle play in the SPFL? Yes they could given their location but they would lose financially not being in the English system and even a big club like Carlisle might bawk and the prospect of winter trip to Elgin or Inverness. Carlisle would be a like St Johnstone: Kilmarnock top 8 in SPL
Carlisle is in tier 2 so there are able to have 2000 supporters

You definitely should!
Good thing we aren't in a parallel universe lol
That boxing day fixture against BW is where it all began to go wrong 😭
If Berwick can,Carlisle can and so can Newcastle Utd!
Yeah fair enough!
Not Newcastle
As a Carlisle United fan our fanbase if very proud of being English there would be no appetite for us to play in The Scottish League system what so ever but there is appetite amongst our fanbase for
The Old Firm to play in the English League system a lot of our fan being unaware of What The Old Firm bring with them it not all being good.
Could Carlisle play in the SPFL? Yes they could given their location but they would lose financially not being in the English system and even a big club like Carlisle might bawk and the prospect of winter trip to Elgin or Inverness. Fro memory I think Gateshead once thought about joining the SPFL, I might have been around the time Gretna won the nomination to join.
While in Carlisle did you visit Northern League side Carlisle City?
If they could join the Scottish league they would be in the top 5 or 6 teams in Scotland.
Possible I guess I have often wondered how many Scottish fans have been to that ground compared to other English grounds 🤣🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜 have a good new year everyone just subb thought I had already have now 👍👍👍
You can roll a turd in glitter but it’s still a turd
Up the Blues! We're going up!
Thank you for watching!!
