@@FootyAdventures love yer lower league videos. Plenty over here in Fife. Glenrothes has 2 crackin teams with great facilities. Thornton Hibs. Or back to the famous San Starko!
You are correct Sam, uk train tickets are very expensive.😮 i feel Uk coach tickets are best price to travel.😅 i feel you should do this one more time next year in 2025! i would like you to go to Nairn county and nairn st ninian because they are north of Scotland, in step five and six of Scottish football. :)
In Slovakia there isn’t something like stable count of fans. Some matches get nearly sold out while other look like this. For example derby with Slovan is ussualy around 70% full capacity. National team of Slovakia plays sometimes there as well. Also next year, this stadium will be hosting u21 Euro.
Unfortunately in Slovakia people don't think football is worth the money, there is so much work to be done around the matchday experience, overal marketing strategy of the whole league, and obviously clubs need to do more themselves. To be fair to a few of them, you can see they are trying and you can see change. The other thing is that Slovak people are fans of success, it has been that way for years and years. So its really a mixture of mentality of the nation and the inability to create an interesting product.
You are super fantastic in travelling to Slovakia and have finally watched a footballing match over there, good friend Sam!!!I did get updated to Slovakian football before and am planning to be getting updated to the football on the whole, just like Polish football, good friend!!!LONG LIVE SLOVAKIAN FOOTBALL!!! 🇸🇰
Sam ..... you're a one man publicly machine for the Slovakia tourist board.......I note your flight was from Edinburgh (where I live) and by UK standards prices are modest. Don't know about the quality of the football but it's certainly preferable to forking out an arm and a leg on UK trains.
Independence of these central and eastern European nations has really hurt the football scene.. Some of these nations should merge the football leagues together to create more interest on the domestic scene Also at international level imagine if Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia was still a thing in the past 20 years they would've won tournaments for sure
As a Hajduk fan I agree, would love awaydays in Sarajevo, Mostar Ljubljana..but most of all to play the big 2 in Belgrade again. Never have the quality of players Hajduk Dinamo Zvezda Partizan in 80s but would improve so much - One day I hope !
What I would say is that in Slovakia Ice Hockey is buy far the most popular team sport Slovan Bratislava Ice Hockey team is much more popular than there football team. In Ice Hockey Slovakia have globle stars that is not really the case in football unfortunately so.
@@alanfox691 Even so.. if England produced a player as good as Lobotka or Hamsik they would be raving about them like they're balon d'Or contenders For a country your size pound for pound you produce great players. But for a nation of only 5 million it's hard to produce an entire team of world class players in the same generation Croatia did but it's rare you might not see a Croatian team that good maybe ever again
Going to Prague this weekend. By chance Sparta playing at home in a derby against Bohemians. 2 tickets £46 and that is only because it is a city derby otherwise it would be cheaper. Insane value.
I went there to watch Scotland get humped 3-0 by Slovakia in 2018. Great trip! Got 3 pints of Calgon from a pub that looked like a huge wooden shed for a total of €2.10! Crackin place

Thanks so much for taking us along on this journey. The places you visited looked amazing. Another country to add to add to my forever growing bucket list.
In Germany, we pay between 40 and 100 Euros for a train ticket from Stuttgart to Hamburg, which is almost the same distance as Glasgow-London. And we are complaining about our prizes...:-)
Was in Bratislava 2 weeks ago myself. Great city, as someone who loves football heritage myself I was happy I got to see the stadium. The Christmas markets were only being set up when I went but it looks great. The beers are nicely priced too and that Tesco you walked past was near my hostel. Was so so handy and I was surprised to see it too. A worthwhile trip Sam
Great video as always Sam, one of your fellow Scottish followers, funny enough not long acquired my first passport at the age of 33 and seeing this gets me hungry to visit places like this, keep up the good work mate 😁👍
Slovakia 🇸🇰 looks amazing and that stadium was insane. That's like Queens Park playing at Hampden! The pork and onion sarnie you had sounds fantastic. Great video Sam!
Great video! If youre interested in visiting Slovakia again you should check out Košice, its the second biggest city, it's got a beautiful old town with a gothic cathedral and also a football club in the first division with a brand new stadium.
Nice video mate, randomly went to that ground to see Slovakia take on the Czechs in the Nations League the day after NI played Austria around 6 years ago, great country!
you need to come at 1 march of 2025 to Bratislava to watch slovakian derby Slovan Bratislava vs Spartak Trnava, you will see better atmosphere trust me 😄
17:44 too bad their online store does not ship outside Slovakia, I've wanted a Spartak Trnava home shirt for years now (going back to their recent Adidas run)
Classic footy adventure video. Highlights many problems in the UK. Football in the UK is out-pricing many. The public transport over here is basically nonexistent.
Was there watching Scotland in a World Cup qualifier in October 2016. I reckon there were more Scotland fans in the stadium than the whole attendance at the game you watched! You picked an odd weekend to go though. Scottish Cup 3rd round and Scottish Junior Cup both on. Lots of interesting games that would have been far more interesting for you to cover than yet another vanilla Premier league game.
Its shocking that a top flight team doesnt have many fans in their home ground. I went to Zilina many years ago when they were still champions. Not a big city but there was a lot of following of the team.
