Liking your football video showing the smaller clubs in Scotland that have a great history to them as well keep up the good work.
Thanks mate, glad you think so! Much appreciated!
Qos striker stephen dobbie at 35 had the best goal scoring record in the whole of europe in 2018 at one point 21 goals in 13 games
That's class!
Mon the south
Queen of the South are known as 'The Doonhamers'. The nickname of Doonhamers' comes from the position of Dumfries in the south of Scotland with its residents talking of returning 'Down home' or 'Doon hame'. The club's motto is the same as the towns of 'A Lore Burne', meaning to prepare against outside attack.
Nice, thanks for letting me know!
The painting that shows QOS 1 Dundee 0, depicts ryan mccan after he scored an 84 yard goal to make the game 2-0 and to send queens into the scottish cup semi final 2008, which they famously went on to beat Aberdeen in.
It did look as though there was a keeper being lobbed in the picture! Thanks for watching!

@Joseph Jr McNamara semi final excuse my typo
@@grahammanczak2887 excuse my typo, should say semi final
I’m a Yank and I’m so incredibly jealous of all the historical stadiums over there. We (or rather the club management) over here have developed a bad habit of demanding new stadia every few decades. Thankfully college football bucks that trend for the most part.
The UK is certainly lucky to have so many classic stadiums
Get yourself to Brunton Park Carlisle! You’ll love it! Once upon a time we used to sing ‘sh@t ground no fans’ at most of our opposition. Our ground was even used in the excellent film ‘The Dammed United’ to represent an old ground.
You might enjoy the work of photographer Stuart Clarke. His homes of football work is incredible charting a change in stadia post Hillsborough, through the 1990’s. Grounds and fan culture. My favourite photo is Sunset over Wigan. In Springfield parks old away end.
Palmerston is one of my favourite grounds in Scotland, love that they have kept the terracing at the Home end
Seems like a great ground!
Glad you managed to visit Palmerston shame it wasn’t for a match! great video!
Cheers! I'll definitely come back for a match when I can!
Always loved the names of Scottish clubs--Queen of the South, Caledonian thistle, Ross County and Buckie Thistle to name a few. Interesting stuff.
yeah they all have interesting names!
The Highland / Lowland leagues are full of interesting names: Inverurie Loco Works ; Clachnacuddin and Forres Mechanics up here then there is Gala Fairydean Rovers, Hawick Royal Albert; Dalbeattie Star; Caledonian Braves and Civil Service Strollers down south among many others if you head deeper. Burntisland Shipyard?
@@LB1973
Clachnacuddin I have see at
Summerset Park a good few years back now in a Scottish Cup tie they brought down a good number of fans for the game I remember they have an interesting name & history behind the name.
You should get in contact with clubs before you go. If they had time to prepare they might be able to let you in to see the stadium and also give you information about the club. You should visit Loch Ness FC and Orkney FC who play in the North Caledonian League. Orkney are the only senior football club in Scotland not on the mainland.
Hi mate, I do get in contact with most clubs but on a lot of cases I'm not able to get in. Sometimes I like to make videos from the outside in the hope they see and invite me in! It's happened at a few clubs, so we'll see about these two :) Thanks for watching, much appreciated!
I know that's why I'm saying he should visit. Would get a lot of views and hopefully more people onto the channel. Orkney are an interesting club as well and play in the same league so it would be an interesting watch.
@Footy Adventures
Yeah no worries mate your videos are great anyway. The further down the leagues you go the more likely clubs are to get in touch with you. Clubs in tier 6 and below would probably post your videos on their social media channels.
Great video, I started to go to football as kid in 70's and nothing says football to me like four floodlight pillions towering into the sky and lighting up the night. As a kid i found to be magical and to this day i love stadiums like Palmerston Park.
Well said!
You should do Galabank in the spring. Behind the seated stand it’s beautiful by the River Annan.
It’s a fantastic club, The pies are amazing!
Queens, I saw the worst game of footy ever there. Queens vs hibs 0-0. Seeing the ground again induced terrible flashbacks and undid years of therapy.
Biggest remaining terrace in Scotland. Worth a visit.
Thanks for posting
Thanks mate, sorry it brought back the memories of the bore draw!
Another great vid ! Love the smaller clubs grounds complete with history lessons. Many thanks for uploading.
Thanks for watching Mike! Glad you enjoyed
Brilliant Sam. 👍 You've finally gotten round to visiting my local Dumfriesshire teams. QOS (aka "The Doonhamers") are the team I support, 2nd only to Rangers, and I also always keep an eye on Annan's results, always hoping they do well. I can't find any info on why Annan have the flaming torch on their crest either, but I do know that has been their crest since at least 1978, and possibly earlier.
Nice cheers for looking anyway! Glad I could finally come to your local clubs!
I remember well You helping Matt Pool run the buses to Queens & Scotland games.
I bet he would be well chuffed to have seen Annan & Gretna in the Scottish league..
Presumably the torch is simply a reference to athletics and the fact that the club is called Annan Athletic. It does not appear the club were formed out of an athletics club so this is probably just a name.
Great video again Sam... 👌 I always like the wee facts and trivia you give us.... Keep them coming 👍
More to come! Thanks again Craig!
Cheers dude 🥃
Loved the murals
Great work 👍🇬🇧🏴⚽
Thank you! Cheers!
Sam, another couple ticked of the list well done keep it up and stay safe too.
Loved the paintings outside the ground! 👌🏼
Cheers bebster!
Between your videos and Ange taking over at Celtic, my interest in Scottish football has been reignited, thanks mate. Yeah I love the old stadiums, Scotland seems to have some great grounds with loads of character, take it easy man, keep up the good work,g'day from Melbourne.
Well done Sam, another good video & plenty trivia again.
Cheers Phil!
Another great video and bringing so many memories of our tour around Scotland as well as taking in the football stadiums of Gretna, Annan, QofS, Stranraer, Ayr, Kilmarnock, St. Mirren, Partick, Rangers, Hampden, Celtic, Shawfield, Falkirk, Livingston, Gala Fairydean, and Berwick.. following our marriage in Gretna back in 2014
Glad I can bring back the memories of all those places!
Loved this video. Played at both of them and been to Palmerston so many times and live literally a ten minute walk away. Some lot of the murals are related to the 2007/08 season when we got to the Scottish cup final and got through to the UEFA cup qualifiers even though we got beat. Definitely a great ground to be at especially when there's a big game
Thanks Lucas!
Another brilliant video and was waiting for only football club mentioned in bible fact lol
. Never made it to Palmerston but as you say cracking old school ground. Loved the murals and those old fashioned pylon floodlights. Got to get to a game there when things improve.
Keep those amazing videos coming. Respect.
Brilliant as always!
Thanks again!
Fantastic video yet again, and yes, like you i love the old grounds that are steeped in history, not like the Lego brick stadiums that get thrown up.
I like Queens ground as it's proper old skool feels like goin back in time to the 80s! very loyal fans too. Much respect QOS from a Cumbernauld Arab 🍻
Brilliant video 👍👍
Thank you!
Loved this vid mate cheers
Thanks Nathan. Got another Annan video coming out this weekend!
Ever since I started diving into my Ancestry and found that my maternal grandfather's lineage was from this area where Queen of the South FC are, I've taken and interest. Thanks for sharing!
The Queen of the South 4-3 win over Aberdeen was their victory in the Scottish Cup semi final in 2008, the final which you mentioned.
Nice thanks!
4-3 game was Scottish Cup semi final in 2008, they lost to Rangers in final
Ah cool OK! Thanks for letting me know :)
haha when I said yesterday I was looking forward to seeing your covering of Palmerstone, I didn't think it'd come today.
Ps check out pie and bovril forums, you might find some info from fans there.
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@FootyAdventures I did thanks, shame you couldn't get inside. The newer of the stands the all seater opened 25 years ago, it was formally called the coo shed as that as what it looked like :) When the new stand opened Rangers were down for a friendly.
@@davidmorton6051 ah cool good to know! Hopefully I can get in for a look soon!
I hope you will end up doing the Highland and Lowland leagues as well. That would also be really interesting. I have visited Galabank and I am so happy you mentioned the campsite. I found that very interesting.
I've done a few lowland teams lately. Got some Highland videos coming VERY soon!
Annans one of my favourite away days 👍🏼 class wee social club right at the home entrance
Would love to catch a match there one day!
@@FootyAdventures im sure you will soon enough, looking like lower league fans could be back sooner rather than later with this vaccine 👍🏼
Late to the party but loved seeing my old boyhood club qos in a video 💙
Great video mate
Cheers Darren!
@@FootyAdventures no problem
@@FootyAdventures welcome bud
I was there 3 months ago whilst hiking, footage at the beginning of day 1 of Southern Upland Way,channel is called Trails and Ales from Wales,I also like Scottish footy, follow Hibs from Wales 👍
The mural with the farmer was the old chairman long serving through some really great times for the small club. Promotion to the 2nd tier and a Scottish cup final with rangers
The Dubliner is an Irish pub on Amagertorv (a square) in Copenhagen. To the right of that you can also see The Little Mermaid and the entrance to the Tivoli Gardens.
I found these video blogs interesting with their own history and special meanings of their exhibits and painted murals as such is a wonder to behold.
Thank you
Agree love the older football grounds
Cheers mate!
Love QOS. 🇬🇧🏴🏴❤
Great club!
Annan Athletic is My hometown club, I got to around half the games hat season before Covid came along, I've also asked the supporters club about the badge.
just watched your Gretna FC Video aswell as I live 2 streets away!
With Gretna 2008 in the Lower league they normally play on a Sunday so if I've got nothing on I can sometimes catch 2 games in a weekend and travel a total of around 8 miles!
Hi Joe, thanks for watching! I'm glad you've commented about Annan. I filmed a video inside Galabank and interviewed Cammy Bell as part of it too. That was only a few days ago but the video will be out next weekend. Hope you enjoy! Up the Annan!
Dumfries is my home town,my first visit was 1974!! a 1-1 draw with Airdrie, many happy memories
Nice! Glad I could make a vid about your home toon!
@@FootyAdventures The Queen of the South Arena was a large Tesco store originally
Great video
Thanks!
Done these two Annan n QOS who are one my favs top draw sir.
Cheers for watching!
Palmerston Park holds the largest remaining standing terrace in Scotland as well as the tallest free standing floodlights i believe.
Wow good to know!
Great video again. M8
Cheers!
I agree old stadiums are better and have better atmosphere than the new ones been too Palmerston twice to see hearts but many years a go now
Enjoy your drive up the A9 :)
I know its a torch on the Annan badge, but, it actually looks like one of the Chapelcross cooling towers. Annans main employer until a few years ago was the Chapelcross nuclear power station. It was just outside of town and had 3 enormous cooling towers. You could see the Annan towers from miles away.
love small grounds non league etc ,the history everything.
Same!
I live in Annan and played on that pitch my entire life, even played rugby on the astro field
Rugby on astro.... ouch!
I live down the road from annan athletic
q of the south priceless thanks
Cheers!
The farmer on the mural at Palmerston was David Rae, a local that owned the club during the run to the Cup final in 2008 and the UEFA Cup campaign
Oh wow thanks for letting me know!
Yes at last we're in Dumfries! My favourite county in Scotland. Up the Doonhammers
The ‘farmer’ you see at around 10:15 in the video is in fact former chairman Davie Rae who made the club move from part time to full time in the 2007-8 season (the one which queens reached the SC final). Definitely come back for a game sometime!
Nice, thanks for letting me know mate. I'll definitely be back for a game at some point!
Been 2 both these stadiums. 2 proper family clubs
Your right prefer these grounds any day lovely,
Dumfries IS "The Queen of the South". It's an ancient name for the town from long before there was organised football. That sort of thing is common in Scotland. Hearts = "The Heart of Midlothian" = Edinburgh, Raith Rovers (Kirkaldy) and Albion Rovers (Coatbridge). Morton tacked on "Greenock" in the 1990s. Or in other cases the patron saint of the town such as St. Johnstone (Perth), St. Mirren (Paisley).
QOS has the biggest remaining terrace in Scottish football. Maybe even in British football.
Would love to see a game from in there!
@@FootyAdventures Proper ground. Not made from lego!
Highland and lowland leagues next ???
My hometown club missing it as I live in Cork now.
Hopefully I can get back for a proper look inside both soon! Thanks for watching Graeme!!
Had some cracking days at the club. You must go when you can get a pint in the social club on a match day👍
Annans ground is state of the art
It's very nice!
Nearly there mate
Shortage of blue paint in Dumfries?
QoS have a decent support cos the road to Glasgow was not the easiest to travel.
The farmer is/was the chairman.
The Aberdeen game was a 4-3 win in the Scottish cup.
Cool thanks for letting me know and cheers for watching!

Saint Mirren for a look a round or even an Interview..
Fingers crossed you get access
this time.
Queen of The South are a very interesting club to me aswell plus what amazing artwork outside the ground reminds me a bit of the murals you get in Belfast.
The Oval in East Belfast is my favourite Old School football ground.
Worst ground I have ever been to was the Old Dean Coart In Bournemouth it's changed a lot now it ued to be extremely dusty we went back in the Summer of 97 me & my Dad for a friendly between Bournemouth & West Ham United a extremely youing Rio Ferdinand played that night he then went to Bournemouth on loan the following season & the rest is history as they say.
Keep Safe Sam & good question as regards The Annan Athletic Crest.
Good ground
Globe Inn was a favourite of Robbie Burns.
Ah cool, good to know!
I’m a shareholder at Annan
From cove rangers to qots you travel
A lot of miles, gets tiring!
im one of the kids in them pics
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Good
Thanks!
Laughed at the caravans beside the stadium😂 for the diehard fans!
Haha would be a great little away day that!
hi mate youve to see a game to count grounds off , im disabled but kept coming up from midlands to see a game doing ALL SCOTTISH
Yeah but in a world where I cant go to games this is the best I can do for now 🙃
Palmerston was also the home ground of Kilnockie F.C. In the movie A Shot at Glory starring Robert Duvall, Michael Keaton and Ally McCoist. www.imdb.com/title/tt0193854/?ref_=tt_mv_close
Mon the south!
The badge was designed by Scott Alexander the brother of rowan I think the flame represented the athletic theme of Annans name.
I got this of one of the members of The Annan Athleric Supporters club, sorry I'm 4 months late to the party 😂
Very interesting, cheers!
The 2-0 game against Dundee, was an 84 yard goal in the Scottish Cup quarter final, they were 1-0 up then Dundee had every one up including the goalkeeper to try get an equaliser, then Ryan McCan hit it and scored from well inside his own half.
The goal is the link below this

Was there the other day watching Carlisle in a friendly game food is shit the ground ya couldn't move the pitch is a joke our players hated it
brechin city are selling £10 match worn shirts right now
Can u explain why queen of the south are called “Doom hammers”?
It means garn hame. Going home. Going Down home/hame. So Doon hamers.
Across the border in Cumbria we say garn yam!
My understanding standing is it started when people from Dumfries would travel up to Glasgow for work & when it was time to finish work they would say it's time to go home but in modern Scots that becomes pronounced like it's time we where doon as in down hame as in home & ers on the end there you have the nickname.
It's "doon" "hamers" as in their "hames" are "doon" south 👍🏼
When hearts came down to play the south there supporters Spray painted and wrecked the photos
shocking behaviour!
I've a couple of friends who live in Dumfries but they are not football fans
Am a Annan fan there isint a real meaning behind the logo
Best Ball boy ever at Annan! That lad who collects the balls that leave the ground is a genius of the art. The messi of Ball boys.

Hopefully when fans get back in you can start getting back to games!
Queen Of The South is in The Bible
Yeah, so cool!
