I tell you what, I'm putting together my own Crusader armor setup. And the toughest part to date is finding the correct boots for it, and I understand why you decided to make the surcoat yourself, because I haven't found one online that is worth buying, even the more expensive ones are a disappointment.
Yeah, the surcoats online look like bedsheets ... there's no substance to them. The next video will be about the boots. I bought 3 pair before finding one somewhat suitable. Video should be out in a couple weeks. I'll include links to where I bought each pair. The boots in this video are the first pair I bought, but I decided they're too much Renaissance period and not 13th-century military enough.
@@crittermccree8925 mind doing me a favor? Can you consider making a video showing how to make clothing look worn? So it doesn't all look brand new. I'm not saying to do it with your crusader gear, but give ideas on how to do it with other stuff. I always wonder how they do that in the movies and TV shows. Make something look worn but still very visually appealing.
@@yearight1205 I'll see what I can do. I've never actually distressed clothing before. I did age a pair of cowboy boots by dragging my feet through pea gravel. It scuffed uop the finish and got 'em pretty dusty. May do the same with my Templar boots.

your half right, the shoulder armor you have, was labeled at pauldrons in the amazon store, but those are spaulders, the pauldrons where primarily for mounted combat, as you don't have nearly as good of a range of motion in pauldrons, they cover the entire shoulder from your chest to your back not just your shoulder, i personally need to get a pair of spaulders for my armor set, since the pauldrons i have restrict movement ridiculously, nice unboxing though

Sorry for having missed your comment, Scotland! The elements in the video were sourced from different distributors. However, I will say that I've had very good luck with Medieval Collectibles for accessories and Kult of Athena for the widest selection of swords. Slàinte!
Hopefully, I can wrap this up soon. Never used a sewing machine before, so lots of false starts with the garment-making process. Our local RenFest starts this Saturday, so I don't see me finishing this in time for this season. Either way, stay tuned as there will be another video of making the cape and surcoat! Hey Hairy - sorry to hear about the problems with the gorget. I did a lot of shopping around before deciding on the one that I ended up with. Did you buy the same one I listed in the description? I realize it's a little plain looking, but it will be largely covered by the coif anyways. As for the fit, you could probably fabricate longer straps unless it's the diameter that's too small. I stand 6' (183 cm) at 270 lbs (19 stone and 4), so I'm a bit above average fit.
Been held up a few months by medical issue. Work has resumed, and I expect completion in time for the 2022 Renaissance Festivals in the U.S. Thanks for watching! 😀
Hey Daniel - thanks for your comment. You are correct, those pieces of plate armor are not period correct. However, my goal here is to replicate as closely as possible the costume design used in the History Channel series "Knightfall". I really like how all the elements work together to create that particular look. Perhaps Uniform V2.0 will be historically accurate, who knows? Thanks for watching! 😁👍👍

Fantastic. I hope to put together a similar collection in time. Anyone have a good source for the best available Templar shield as seen on Knightfall?
I've only ever seen them on eBay and Etsy so far. I plan to make one myself; I don't think it will be all that difficult. ~Critter~
Either Kult of Athena or Medieval collectables.
