Ibanez TS mini
Maxon OD808
Maxon ST9Pro+
into DIY JCM800 2204 clone (50W)
heaps of mods, jose MV, depth control, variable NFB, bigger phase inverter coupling caps (100nF), bigger filter caps (200uF @ B+1)
KT77 power tubes
-- Legendary Tones Hot MOD V2 (older handwired version)
into Mesa 4x12 cab (V30 speakers)
recorded with SM57
Focusrite 2i2
into iphone 12 mini (w/ adaptor)
SD-1 adds a very nice bite/attack.
i agree. it’s surprisingly aggressive.
@@owlexifryno it is not, it is brutal
What clock the master and pre-amp was? I have its litle brother in law the sc20sh 20watt, want to see if it can produce the same or at least near sounds
@@ajhwb i wouldn't have had the master any more than 8-9 o'clock, amp is 50W, so it's pretty damn loud in the small 3x3m room this was recorded in, and i suspect your 20W would be too.
preamp gain was at about 11 o'clock - but this has a HOTMODV2 inserted in the V2 position, which gives it a little bit more gain.
(this amp also has other mods, including the 'Jose master', depth control, adjustable NFB, and a couple other minor circuit tweaks)
if you have an SD-1, just max out the level, and turn up the gain until it's got enough saturation for your taste.
@@owlexifry Thank you.
you're right, when above 9, the sound starts crackling on my speaker monitor, i think because it was too loud and the speaker couldn't handle it, the speaker is a pair of HS5 after an IR, I use the amp through DI output only, no cab connected (no load, safe according to marshall when DI out is connected). I tried with a EHX east river drive, it sounds like TS in your video more or less. Ah but your 800 was modded, i prob. get the similar sounds but way less brutal lol. Anyway, what's your fav pedal in that video if you have to choose?
@@ajhwb yikes, i wouldn’t trust that advice, would certainly recommend at least using a cheap loadbox (ie. bugera power soak) for that application.
SD-1 is the best value, it gets close, but my favourite is absolutely the Maxon ST9pro+ it has an incredible mid control that no other drives seem to have
great comparison ! im thinking on getting the maxon stpro9 , whats the main base tone? is it maxon into dirty channel amp?
cheers 🤘🏻 yep the maxon st9pro is great, my favourite of the lot.
in this demo it’s just guitar + overdrive into a modified 50W JCM800 (hi input, preamp gain about 11o’clock)
The only one that sounds noticeably very different really is the SD-1, and that is because clipping the sound wave harder pushes the shape more horizontal than vertical - quickening the speed before we hear the peak of the sound wave, which translates to us as faster attack. Anyway what this videos proves is don't buy 10 Tube Screamers people, the slighg eq differences are nothing compared to a different amp or guitar or evdn using different picks, just get one your happy with and call it a day, and an SD-1 is worth imho it for some audible variance. I personally mini pedal ergonomics, so I'll always dismiss the mini just on that alone.
@@ushnicyuvnikof2748 yeah SD-1 is unbeatable for price and availability. love how it sounds too. all time favourite is the maxon ST-9, but the SD-1 gets pretty close.
No te veo muy ducho presionando los switches.
@@SteepRZ correcto. Lo jodí a lo grande lmao 🤣 Menos mal que este vídeo no es una evaluación del rendimiento del footswitch
