Here’s my view why everyone is unique and can't be like you. - What would need to be true for us to truly have total free will and the ability to act differently? First, we would need to be aware of all factors influencing our actions, such as environmental factors, our exact mood, the influence of others, past experiences, and more. Second, we would need to have complete control over all these factors. However, neither of these conditions are currently true or even feasible. - What are the two fundamental reasons behind any action? You either want to do something, or you are forced to do it. Even when you don't want to do something but do it anyway, it's because of a stronger, often uncontrollable, desire to achieve something that requires you to do it. Essentially, all your actions are driven by your wants. Consider any example, and you'll find a hidden desire. A key insight into the non-existence of free will is this: while you have the freedom to act as you wish, you do not have the power to determine your desires. Isn't this a constraint on freedom? Reflect on this: if this argument persuades you, what led you to be persuaded? If it doesn't, why not? It's out of your control. The information given will either sway you or it won't; you don't have control over this outcome. Regardless of your viewpoint, consider exercising your so-called free will by doing something against your inclination, like accepting this explanation for why everyone is unique and can't be like you. However, I recognize the importance of your desire for discipline. I respect your theology. I understand that you believe growth cannot occur in comfort. Your feelings are valid, and I would likely feel the same in your position. Your passion is admirable. I'm sorry that you feel disgust towards yourself and others. In my view, you're not disgusting; you're making an effort, and that's what truly matters. If I was your father, I would be proud of you regardless.
