My 710 on the wrist now is the sniper version which has no date. It has a different bezel which is stainless steel and is smaller and has more course grip. It also has a stainless steel crown. I put a French style MN strap which is black with a white stripe on it that is very comfortable. I haven`t set it for a couple days, and it is 4 seconds fast as I type this. I wear it all day, except when showering. This is a nice watch for the money.
I'm a collector of Vostok Amphibia watches, specifically the 710 ministry case model. I have to say that you did an excellent presentation. It was a pleasure to watch and listen. Thank you.
+kolya kalugin Wow! Thank you so much! Im very happy to hear that! hopefully more videos following soon, as I am looking into more effordable dive watches! loving my cushion case vostok for sure! cheers
Hi, thanks cool vid, I've been doing up my son's Vostok and it had a lot of scratches so put it to my polishing wheel and wow all gone, took about 4 mins. I love these watches, the AK47 of dive watches, I have an Amphibia and komandirskie and a number of Russian watches and they are great with great history ... :-)
The dial of the watch is called a Scuba Dude. It has been modified with a Seiko SK007 bezel and a NATO strap. It normally comes with a chromed bezel and a flimsy bracelet. I have also added the Seiko bezel to mine and use a waterproof silicone strap. Love it. Keeps brilliant time. There is a shortcut to setting the date in the manual.
+John Kennekam my manual was in russian... siad it wrong in the video, but yeah its the famous scuba dude... was searching to get him in black on oange or orange on black but since it was my first dive watch I wanted to go classic then. Thank you for stopping by and having a look... and i think i mentioned about the customization in the video... cheers
I have a 120, and all i can say is it's worth every penny. Two days ago i ordered a 710 and 2 nice bezels for my scuba dudes. Probably i will add a 420 to the collection.
THnx for the compelling video about the battletested durable reasonably priced Vostok! I ordered 2 off Ebay last week the Amph and Kom, Now waiting for their arrival !!
Nice video. I like acrylic crystal watches, because you get that awesome dome, and you can polish out scratches. Date only watches are super legible, and after all, this is a dive watch. Legibility is important, while the day isn't. I prefer no date even, but I seem to be in the minority. thanks for the review.
Just ordered a model 420 case Komandirskie for land use and am looking forward to picking up an Amphibia in the 710 cushion (Ministry) case in the future. I am also impressed with the vintage dress watches Vostok & others built in the Tonneau style 090 case. I feel that these are the iconic cases in their archetypal uses. I have wanted one since my friend bought a Komandirsie in an alley in Moskow on a municipal youth symphonic band visit!
I am not a diver of any sort , and don't find much use for Bezels ( Although I Love diver watches ), but I hate that it moves. I'm a bit OCD on it being aligned. What I did on my Vostoks is tie a couple of turns of dental floss underneath the bezel to make it a bit tighter. then just tuck in the ends with a sharp piece of plastic or something that does not scratch. Now the bezels are very hard to move , so I dont have to keep aligning them all the time, plus you're not doing any permanent physical mods to the watch.
Great video. I also brought the 110 series and customised the bezel with Seiko 007 type and put on a black shark mesh bracelet. There is a quicker way to change the date, first make the date change my turning the the hour hand past 12 midnight then move the hour hand back to 8.00pm then move it forward to 1.00 am. The date will increase.
+Delroy Wallace Thanks... yeah I heard about that and kinda forgot about it wearing another watch for a while... still takes too much in my opinion! thank you for stopping by!!
Great review. I think the 710 with this bezel is the best combination for my first Vostok. It's got some of that Soviet charm without being too risky. How's it been holding up over the last year? And please don't worry or apologize for your English! I'm an English teacher and I can tell you are quite advanced. It's actually better than some native speakers I know. I wish my German was on the same level.

Great presentation! I'm eagerly waiting for my first Vostok. (120913)
I love my Vostok watches. Definitely a great deal for a rugged watch. Just so you guys know, the date can be changed slightly quicker by winding the time to 1 after the date clicks, and then back to 8 and forward again. That will trick the watch into believing that it was wound all the way around twice. Now you know. Good review, by the way!
+NC9ballguy Thanks for stopping by! I forgot about that trick when I made the video... wasn´t wearing it that much at the time anymore... but should have mentioned of course! thank you again for watching! hope you subscribed! ;-)
I love the lume on this watch because it was designed for military use so from tactical standpoint you don't want a superluminova during tactical combat ops. The lume is perfect with dark adapted eyesight and very readable with night vision optics and don't need to cover watch with black tape to hide the lume.
+ding174 I can only agree! realized over time that I was able to read it absolutely fine throughout the night when my eyes adapted to the dark! great point!
+Woodsmans Finest I regret the bezel is not tighter for scuba use but modern dive timers are safer and more accurate. For land ops the Vostok has gained cult status. Great review I like your video. And the seiko bezel is perfect for cool looks. Thank you.
For those of us who are not doing night opps, you can relume. Doesn't cost much. I relume most of my watches. The iso dive spec pushes for more lume for dive watch. Reluming costs about $50.00 cnd. For us desk divers.
Your English is Ok.....better than some mother lenguage speakers. Great video. I will buy one of these......to my exploration journeys. As I read they are as heavy duty than a G shock and has more histoty and more appreciate between watch collectors.
My Komandurskies have best lume. I have a new one and a 1985 one with the 2234 movement that 'hacks'. That is the second hand stops when you pull out the winding knob. Amphibia crystals, movements and parts are available from Meranom.com. I have 2 Amphibias in the wonderful 710 ministry cases.
Very informative! Especially the part about using toothpaste to work the scratches out of the crystal. Also, I think that your English is excellent; I wish that my German was a good as your English--you should be proud that you speak English so well (better than a lot of Americans, that's certain!) Thanks for a great video! I just picked up several Amphibia watches today so this will really help out :)
+Woodsmans Finest You are most welcome! I can hardly wait now to modify my soon-to-be-arriving Amphibia dive watches. The new bezels definitely make them look more "legitimate" as dive watches. I suppose it's some sort of "James Bond" effect (*laugh*). Anyway, they just look a lot cooler with the black numeric bezels, etc. Thanks, and I look forward to your next post :)
Really good video, your English is very good. I have just ordered the same style watch from eBay, I will upgrade the bezel as your watch looks really nice. I currently wear a Seiko 6309 7040 with a Yobokies Oyster strap but being that the watch is 38 years old I do not wear it in the water, the Vostok will be perfect.
+Scouting Free Hey buddy! thanks for watching! some more vids coming up in this series! stay tuned if you are considering a more classic analog, military style diver for the outdoors! I appreciate the support, so if you feel like this was helpful, feel free to share my vids! cheers
I also made videos about an Amphibia 710 watch but as they are in italian I am not a concorrent ah ah ah...very interisting anyway, I will start following your channel and leave a like. Keep on this way!
NATO straps totally transform the look of these Russian watches from mundane to exceptionally cool......and you can change into a plethora of styles and colors in seconds.
Just ordered mine btw, stock 710 with blue scuba dude. When I told my gf she took a look at the ladies models (051) and we added one for her as well! Can't wait :)
Steve Tackett very kind of You! Very old video! Should do an update! Thank you for the support! What type of video would you enjoy? More edc? More traveling vlogs? Outdoor and canoeing videos? Cheers
To set the date, after the date switches to the next setting go back to before 8 and then past 12 again. Voila, the russian way of quicksetting the date! ;-)
Thank you for the great views of this very interesting watch. I did not see where you shared the website for getting a customized vostok. Maybe because I'm on my mobile watching this. Would you mind sharing the website in the comments? Thank you in advance and again great video!
If you want a diver watch without complaints get a Seiko or Citizen , and off you go.. They're still very affordable. We buy Vostoks for the charm they carry , period . They're not perfect , just unusual .
This video is years old... Owning several seikos, modified and stock as well as a citizen Excalibur I use for diving and canoeing. Cheers for the comment!
I think Vostok has a semi-quick date set function. You can forward the date by moving the hour hand back and forth between 12 a.m. and 8 p.m. See ua-cam.com/video/GWXkkcPUg4g/v-deo.html
Excellent review. You showed features such as the luminous dial, which isn't very luminous, the bi-directional bezal and the winding knob when the watch is on your wrist. All those features are very important to me. I have subbed and am looking forward to your upcoming reviews. Cheers, b.
+Woodsmans Finest No need to apologise. I misspelled a word which changed the meaning of my comment. I was being very complimentary because you covered the points I listed when so many reviewers don't. Sorry for the confusion. :)
oh okay! great! That is some great feedback there then! gratefull for that! was a bit quiet on my channel for a while because of my temporary move to canada... but I ´ll be rolling soon enough! cheers and merry xmas!
+S. Nik. I agree. I just bought three Vostok Amphibians today. I'm going to modify them myself. I think that as a dive watch I will get a lot more wear out of those three great watches than just one much more expensive Seiko. I love Vostoks! They are the "AK-47" of watches! They can take a real beating and keep going and function in really bad conditions. For such a price, they are GREAT! :)
"don't need to cover watch with black tape to hide the lume". So it is a smart design???? the lume last only few hours...2 AM its dark as a shoe box ))))))...substandard by Swiss......better to go w/ Seiko with low budget. 3
Apparently many years later, I am going to buy one because of your presentation ... thank you so much.😊
That's too kind!

Woodsmans Finest I disagree. This video is 17 minutes of the guy fondling and flipping the same watch back and forth. I'm done at the 11 minute mark.
Hi, thanks cool vid, I've been doing up my son's Vostok and it had a lot of scratches so put it to my polishing wheel and wow all gone, took about 4 mins. Ryan Mallory thank you for the great message! I should do a better quality video update on the watch!

Delroy Wallace Just so you know... It doesn't even need to go to 1am, just twist it a few minutes past 12 then back to 8

great video. by the way to set quickly the date you can switch between 8 and 12 on and on
+Lanciarules Yes good point go past 12 reverse to 8 then back to 12 and date flips.
the Omega Seamaster has acrylic on some models. most domed lenses (even old rolex) are also acrylic.

some people relume the scubadude with superlume so it looks amazing at night.

+Il Cattivo Maestro grazie amico!
Suggestion for my 2nd auto:
1. Orient 3 Star
2. Seiko 5 (snxs77)
3. Vostok Amfibia (710 scuba dude)
(First one is black Mako)
Thanks!
NATO straps totally transform the look of these Russian watches from mundane to exceptionally cool......and you can change into a plethora of styles and colors in seconds.
Best video I've seen about the Vostok Amphibia 710. I'm going to buy it soon. just need to decide on stock or modded bezel!
+Ouroboros thank you very much! Writing her lots lately allthough I have pricier watches! Very accurate and very comfortable to wear!
Just ordered mine btw, stock 710 with blue scuba dude. When I told my gf she took a look at the ladies models (051) and we added one for her as well! Can't wait :)
How many Vostok amphibians models are there? How can yo tell one from another?
Good question. I think it's 6 or 7. The models are based on the case. Movement is the same and dials are changeable.
The chrome bezel doesn't fade like the aluminum insert bezels.
I don't like nato strip.Mesh stanless steel bracelet suits this watch much better.
Great and nice watch 👍
Great video. Subbed. Btw, your English is very good.

Woodsmans Finest actually any of the above. My job keeps me from traveling very much so traveling blogs are really cool sometimes. Cheers.
great VIDEO. How did you modify the bezel - did someone help if yes - please provide guidance because I love your Vostok 710!!
+Dan H They are available on ebay! look for a seller named bruno! cheers
How is the comfort level of the strap since it does not seen that the case curves down to better shape on the wrist
Awesome !

What's happened to the Distinguished Gentlemans Channel?
What size NATO strap do you use for the Vostok Amphibia? 20mm or 22mm?
+AdventuRide 22mm... can find it under lug size in every description!
Considering this. Is the crystal good? Comparable to hardlex?
+Robot Picnic Secret Soviet acrylic angled to flex with water pressure.

+Hamish Spencer Thank you! That is very different... ebay, amazon... mostly ebay though... make sure they are well made, sturdy and not made in china!
Did you buy that already modded? if so where did you get it?
+Al Aranowitz I did buddy! Got it from eBay, sent from Ukraine!
