Owned my '16 AWD R for a couple years now. My first two-seater, that's been a tough transition from having a backseat -- there is like NO room in the cabin for anything, esp. not with a passenger (there is some room in the trunk). The auto+paddles kind of sucks coming from a proper manual clutch+stick, but the shifts are lightning fast and smooth as butter. The exhaust... oh the exhaust... It's at or near the top of the list as far as bone-stock exhaust sounds from the factory. It sounds angry, in a good way. It snorts between shifts. When you do let off? Oh those sweet pops...
@@keyser456although sounds like a superb auto anyway. I’m more interested in the driving dynamics. What’s it compare to? And why not get the RWD? Is the awd decent or no? Awd seems antithetical to what this car is all about tbh. Like an awd Mustang. What’s it like as far as having fun with it and pushing it in the turns and even just turning from a stop sign or a low speed merge/turn etc or low. I always found it funny that a focus rs has a “drift mode” (I take issue with the name and how accurately it describes what it does) but I always wondered how that fwd toy had “drift mode” and a rwd based WMD of a car like this doesn’t ?!?!? Seems like a major oversight, ideally they’d have at least given it a m5 style awd/rwd selector switch.
Was getting on a freeway circa 2016 or so w/ my windows down when I first ran across one on the road. They walked my WS6 easily (which was unusual) and when they let off the pops were absolutely terrifying. I swore that day I'd own one. Got mine a couple years ago -- they both cohabitate in my garage now, although I only ever drive the R now (basically the same as SVR).
Ha ha, I love the peanut gallery comments from the know-nothings. These cars are actually pretty rock solid. And the transmission is the ZF 8-speed, one of the best ever made. There's only a couple of things that generally tend to go wrong with these if they're cared for correctly, and none of them are that serious.
@@silentstormstudios Exactly, I had an engine management light come up literally few weeks after I bought it, they came out, changed the exhaust sensor and its been fine since. I have the face lift version but still the 575 V8 SC engine but they actually call it the R now. Pre face lift does sound a little more violent then the post model.
Maybe not $250k plus modern super cars, but it will hang with anything this side of $100k, and very nice used examples of these can be had for under $50k now with low mileage.
Actually it’s really hard to beat at the price. 2016 f type r with pretty low mileage can be 40-50k. Outside of electric cars, name me another a better performing car at that price point.
Your wrong mate, iv got 1 & it’s absolutely brilliant on fuel, most iv had was 38mpg doing 80, Obviously if you flood it like any other big car the fuel disappears.
This car is amazing but it might need a few upgrades add a Spoiler then a wide body kit along with a Uderglow along with a V12 engine then a custom paint job for the final touch
One of the best sounding modern V8s 🔥
Yup 5.0 v8 supercharged
My xfr has the same engine, it's a sledgehammer of an engine 💪 💪

Don’t worry guys, he is just going back to the dealership to check his engine lights
No it's indicator with drs
And change its transmission since he's probably 3 months late (he bought the car brand new last week)

@@MJ-bb8op yep, I have a 2015 R. Very visceral experience with the over-the-top exhaust sounds and RWD.
gnarly!
Looks like someone gave a gr86 steroids. In the best ways possible.

Not SVR though!
100% an SVR!
It is an svr.
Theyre right it's an R :) with about ever panel replaced
SVR is always AWD and AWDs are recognisable on the wide position of the air inlets on the hood. This one is an RWD, so not an SVR.
Literally know the guy on a forum that has it. It's an R 🤣
Cool and cheap car
i dont think its cheap
They're like $120k+ brand new, more fully loaded. Unless you're a true baller, that ain't cheap.
This isnt an SVR 🙃
is it not? bumper and fenders are svr style if im not mistake
@BigFrozz yeah he put all the panels on, it's just an R underneath.
