Re realtors here (at least in KL), my experiences were, if your realtor doesn’t have a unit in the building you want, your realtor has to enquire from the realtor who has a unit in the building you want. The 2 realtors have to share the commissions (you don’t have to pay extra). However some realtors don’t want to share the commission and thus the nonsense of “no available unit” from your realtor can happen. You can always call the realtor listed on the property website (instead of your own realtor). It’s also advisable to check the unit number, sometimes several realtors can be advertising for the same unit. For someone new in town, it’s probably advisable to know the area you want to be in first, then get to know the houses/condos in that area and then do some online searches. Hope this helps.
I'm just back in Scotland after 3 months in KL. I passed the apartment you're in right now :) I'm retiring to KL for good in October to a beautiful apartment in Aria. Hope to meet up with you at some point. Happy housewarming!!!
I'm British Bangladeshi. I live in London and work as a train driver. I have about 20 years work left in me until I retire. Is it good idea to buy a house and rent it out? Is it possible and good idea? (In Malaysia) I already own a house in London so I also need to think about paying tax in Malaysia aswell as UK.
Really love the materials they used in the apartment btw. Can't believe no ones rented it before. The wooden floor is very cozy, and the kitchens so spacious and clean looking, especially those sinks. The bathrooms are beautiful granite too. The designer and builders did a great job.
Searching for property in Malaysia is very frustrating. Different realtors showing the same exact properties at different prices with different information. We were thinking of buying something there and didn’t simply due to the process
Congats on your new apartment, Taylor. Yes, please video the move and the finale reveal. Not forgetting a tour around the condo and neighbourhood. Isn't it nice to stay in a brand new apartment for a change?
@@tinportugal4655 i ma getting older and going up and down stairs gettinb cumbersome on my knwes. My mother stays un the lower floor rooms so yes ..have to climb up to the main bedrooom. The correct practice is the buyers agent should share the fee that owner pay to his listing agent ...meaning that they should split the fee 50/50 from what owner pays. Agent can't take any fee from renter..except agreement stamping fee. At least this was what I and my agency practised when I was a realtor.
Good choice Taylor! New and quite modern. Only down is we did not see any shops around the project, as it would be nice to be able to walk to a coffee shop or grocery. Hopefully there are shops there or opening soon. Looking forward to watching the upcoming move.
Hi Taylor! I’m looking to relocate to Malaysia for retirement. It’s great to find another fellow older American(64) to follow who is a cat lover. I love your choice of apartments.
Nice view even with no balcony. No one can really stare in from neighbouring apratments so you can kinda leave the curtains open. Looks good, good luck!
The problem with being near traffic is that noise goes up. I also agree I would want a pool in the sun, and furnished. I like to move around every few years so I get experience living in different areas, and I do NOT want to have to furnish each place myself.
Love it Taylor! Love that you found a “new” condo! So glad you took us on your tour!! I’ll be moving to Kuching in November! Hope to meet you sometime! 😘
Wow Andrew! Moving to a new place! Congrats! We are on holidays in Europe, so waking up on Saturday morning, watching your new videos is now 6 hours later, as we are 6 hours behind, but still the same ritual😊 I didn’t know you wanted to move, but from what you are telling I totally understand now. So still in Ampang, but more space and all on one floor, perfect! Let’s see what Earl Gray thinks of it, once you are both in the new apartment. That might be a nice video for the near future, see him getting familiar in his new home. Have a great weekend!
Looks like a nice place - and quiet. More preferable than a place next to a highway in my book. I don't quite understand the dry kitchen/wet kitchen concept - seems to be pretty common there. I'm sure you'll love it!
Hello Andrew!! We, my partner and I would like to thank you for your videos about KL, they are brilliant! I am North American but I have been living in outside of the US for over 35 years. I met my partner in Munich Germany as I was living there at the time. We lived there for a couple of years longer and then moved to Amsterdam and we have been made this our home base for 26 years now. We also in these 26 years lived ten years in Shanghai China, we unleashed the Asian bug in us both but because of Covid and an illness I had (an autoimmune disease) we had to return to Amsterdam. Now I am 59 and my partner is 53 we are thinking about retirement and more over in Asia! Sorry for the long story but I think that it was necessary. We love your videos as they are giving us a good look at KL! Thank you so very much and perhaps we will bump into each other in KL some day soon, I hope. Once again thank you for your informative videos. Take care!!!!
KL appears to be so massive with many many differing neighborhoods. Wondering if you could do a video on how best to handle an initial move there (which areas to initially stay) as well as a guide (or perhaps you know of one) to all the neighborhoods and their pros & cons. Your videos have been very helpful. 👍
I rented a condo with full facilities and it being smaller there's hardly anyone using the facilities plus the expat neighbours were from the west and more quiet all for USD175.
Very interesting Andrew. I don't envy you having to move, but I sure know what you mean about stairs! Hopefully, I'll get to meet you around the end of October 😊. Stay tuned.
d' rapport means a friendly, harmonious relationship. Congrats on your new home. Here in the Philippines $622 is only for a studio/1BR unit in BGC or Makati (prime locations in Manila).
Thanks Andy Much Appreciated! Looks like a good choice, congratulations! Looking forward to the moving video, and a quick message from Penang and with Jeff on is impressions of life there would be nice as well.
Hi Andrew. I've been watching your videos once a while and recommended to my friends who are interested to live or move to Malaysia. Glad to know you enjoy living in Malaysia and I'm sure medical treatment is much more affordable for you compare to US. Thank you for sharing your experience and journey about M'sia. Enjoy your packing and moving to your new place. Would be great to catch up for coffee someday. Take care n stay safe! 🥰
Get that 5 yo new apartment! It has everything. You don't really need that ground floor shops. You just need to go once a week grocery shopping at big malls.
Congrats on deciding your future pad. Do let us know of your move experience. Would love to find out the hows and whats of hiring movers and the likely headaches that may come with that process. As you well know a move is stressful in the US, though corporate moves are much less stressful (at least from my past experience). I am glad you didn't choose the apartment building next to the highway. Submicron and exhaust pollutants, and noise pollution from road traffic are major health hazards, even at the 10+ floor. Good luck!
Congratulations on your upcoming move 😊 The new place looks fab.. new nooks and crannies for Earl Grey to explore ❤ I was very concerned about the stairs in your current digs-- not going up them, but, coming down them at warp speed 😮 not being rude, I am only a year younger than you I think and I thought down the road they could be a danger! I've given up holding my breath for any modifications to MM2H. I've got the big number but not the still inflated monthly requirements. I've had to change my destination 😢 to Thailand,-- Hua Hin or Jomtien, but I plan to visit KL for a couple of months once I'm established. Looking forward to the tour and the "virtual" housewarming maybe. Good luck, and thanks for the great vids.
Hi Taylor...pls make a vid of ur packing including loading and unloading from d truck etc....oh ya a vid of u decor d new condo too....thx Taylor good luck
I like your choice a lot! You're right, having that built in storage available to you, certainly will make moving in and moving out easier and less costly. A good layout that makes sense for your needs, can take a lot of stress out of relocating. The size and location of the laundry room definitely means you can do laundry anytime with no noise concern. I also like the location of the bathrooms, provides a lot of privacy. I hope you enjoy the swimming!
We lived in condos for the first 6 years, until we got sick of living high-rise; so we moved to a house in Desa Parkcity, which was the best decision we ever made. I miss living near the LRT, but I DO NOT miss the sound of traffic.
Really fun video Taylor! I love your videos. Please do a video on updated immigration policy for US citizen after you get settled and relax some in your new place ❤
Hey Andrew. Love your videos, contents and your delivery. Well done, you have such a warm personality. So nice to have someone a little bit more mature on YTube too living their dream. Planning to do KL and Penang this autumn. Cheers

Malaysia is at least 4 times as economical to live in than US.

I just watched a youtube video of an 80 sq ft apartment in NYC for $650! Your new place is palatial by comparison.
Nice apartment! Best wishes for your retirement.
Good information about how to find an apartment.

Congats on your new apartment, Taylor. Yes, please video the move and the finale reveal. Not forgetting a tour around the condo and neighbourhood. Isn't it nice to stay in a brand new apartment for a change?
Absolutely!
I stay in a two storey terrace house..i also hate the stairs. A condo or a one storey house is just good.
Many people simply cannot afford a bungalow, but still want to have their own house. So they select a >1 storey townhouse.

Good choice. I would have made the same one. A balcony is actually a turn-off for me, not a fan of open spaces at height. Good luck with the move 🙏
