Thank you and congratulations Andrew. 70 is a piece of cake. I'm turning 80 this year, still look like I'm in my 50's according to friends and colleagues, and feel pretty good most days. Just embrace whatever decade you're approaching and look forward. I hope to meet you later this year. Still awaiting Malaysia's decision on visas.
You got a lot of interesting videos. Been in Asia about 30+ years, and still believe Malaysia is one of the best countries to live in. Been living permanently in Malaysia now since 2012 and have no regrets.
Hi Taylor, I really enjoyed this episode and not just because my name and photo were in it. I am so proud of you and glad that you are so happy in Malaysia. Mom would be happy and proud as well even though she would say “Florida is better.” Miss you and sending you love. Big Sis ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this overview of your first 10yrs. My partner and I are seriously considering moving there. We started off first going from Amsterdam to Cape Town but feel Malaysia is calling us. You're very inspiring for us as well as Nomad capitalist
Enjoyed the video. With Global conflicts considering a relocation to safer place. Would it be possible to contact you via e-mail? Would like to discuss living conditions, affordablilty and adjustment as opposed to life in North America.😊
Kuala Lumpur has been named as the 6th most visited city in the world in 2023. You can retreat to the cool part of Malaysia such as Fraser’s Hill, Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands which are nearby to KL. Taman Negara too has Gunung Tahan nearby. After 10 years, there are still places you can explore here. Congratulations!
Andrew - Never boring....your Malaysia story only serves to inspire me to retire to Malaysia. Just need to get my kids through college first! May the next ten years and beyond be just as rewarding!
Great recap. You have done so much in the past 10 years! It is so nice to take stock of our progress, we should all do this. Sometimes I feel like I haven't done enough and I get a bit depressed. I often feel I haven't crossed enough items on my "to-do lists" I have made, but your video made me take stock and realize I actually have done many things to be proud of and thankful for!
Taylor, what a lovely video! My wife and I enjoyed it so much. Happy 70th this year. Yes, it's a bit scary. I'm a year behind you. You've done a wonderful job on UA-cam. Your personality shines bright! Keep going. .
Hi Taylor. You look great for 70 🎉🎉. Here's wishing you a wonderful, healthy life in Malaysia. Always looking forward to your content and let's reach 20k 👍
OMG Taylor I have never seen the mini Legos before. I loved Legos as a kid and still do. Your artwork is beautiful. I can't write a grocery list that I can read when I get to the store. 😅 Thanks for the video. I'm checking out some of your older videos tonight. I'm moving to Metro Manila at the end of the year and plan to visit Malaysia. I'm so glad that I found your channel. Thanks and stay safe!
Love your artwork and sense of humour! Thank you for such informative and interesting vlogs. It’s great to get a mature person’s perspective. Hoping to head over to KL in November 2024, so maybe I’ll bump into you 😁🙏🏻
As I sat here today on a rainy afternoon in Ohio I ran across your video and found myself curious about Malaysia. I must say you are fun to listen to and tell a good story. Thanks for sharing.
Down memories lane as you looked back Ten Years ago. Oh wow 😳. Times flies so fast. Back then you looked much younger and tough. Must say, you have pretty good story about your first day in Malaysia and now moment. Great real life story. Thanks Andy
A great and interesting story. Thanks for sharing your information with us. I hope to retire in Malaysia too but I'll have to wait because I am in early 50s.
Fantastic 10 years, Sir. I've been in Virginia and in KL too and so I know that you made a very good decision to retire in Malaysia. What has impressed me the most is your paintings/art skill 😊. U r proving that age is just a number. Stay blessed.❤
Terrific video Taylor, probably my favorite of all your videos. I loved hearing about your 10 years of adventures living in Malaysia. I'm a bit jealous to be honest. You have mentioned in several of your videos that you were in a choir in Penang, and I think we may have seen you perform at a Christmas concert in an auditorium in Straits Quay at the end of 2020. I just looked at our photos from the concert but our seats were too far back and can't see the faces in the photo good enough to see if you were on stage. Anyway, great video, as always!
I subbed to your channel. Lived in HK as a youth, Retirement this month. Exploring the thought of Malaysia. Thank you for your experiences and travel knowledge.
Definitely enjoying your videos. May you continue to have a good and fruitful life. Very informative and interesting too. May you always be in the best of health and wealth.
That was a great overview of your stay here in Malaysia and the stages you went through. I hope you won't have a problem extending your MM2H stay here. Love your artwork!
Thanks so much for sharing your experience over the whole time you have been living there. I appreciate the level of detail you go into which is rare in these types of videos, especially prices of things and the pros and cons you’ve experienced
What a great review of your life in Malaysia, Taylor! It certainly puts things in perspective since I just recently discovered your channel. So happy to hear that you are continuing to enjoy your life there, in spite of the relationship ups and downs. And, Taylor! ....the short glimpse we got of your artwork has made me want to take a closer look. You should do a separate video showcasing your COVID artwork. It looks superb! Have you done a sketch of the old KL railway station? It has a gorgeous colonial façade.
Thanks for the sharing Taylor - it was entertaining to me - I was glued and did not skip even a bit listening to your 10years life experience here. I hope you could introduce to us your new relationship in one of your upcoming episodes soon... 😊
This is a great video, you seem much more relaxed. A very interesting recount of your journey, so far, in Malaysia. As always, I am envious of your good fortune to have got onto the MM2H visa while it still had reasonable conditions. Please keep up these very interesting videos. 😀
Thanks Taylor for sharing your adventures! I enjoyed listening to your stories but it is your attitude towards life impressed me the most. As I am approaching my own retirement, I am excited and at the same time nervous about the changes to come. @retiredsoon1365 Indeed, our first trip to Malaysia, we stayed in Malacca and even came across the Herenstraat where we lived in Amsterdam.

Thanks Andy! Great insights! I looked at high-rise apartments in Penang some years ago and wondered about the noise. Might new buildings be worse than older ones that people are not moving into? And can you relate if regular non-construction tenant noise was and issue of if the building was good a blocking noise?
I also got a big laugh out of your first apartment hunting agent story I could just hear some aggressive agent who moved there from Hong Kong demanding "You should be able to decide by now". But I've been in touch for a while with a couple of Penang Realtors who have channels on UA-cam and have become personal friends with both, and both have been very straight-up with information, and cautions about things like some older properties with bad water from corroded plumbing and and good vs. bad management. One agent has put me in touch with a friend who's a local attorney who's been helpful in trying to figure out how to possibly deal with the new MM2H visa issues.
"I've been looking at a high-rise property overlooking the the floating mosque and was wondering if you found prayers from the loud speakers intrusive or disturbing? I recall just dropping in on the floating mosque many years ago and the people there pretty social and hospitable.
Also Andy, at some point I'd appreciate your take on the heat. Being from Alaska sort of liked the heat in places like Arizona, Palm Springs and Florida, and even found Thailand tolerable, but after few months I found the heat in Penang a bit too oppressive, especially when I had a bungalow without a pool. After a wile I began to fatigued and unmotivated but recovered and adapted somewhat, and was wondering how you find the heat after 10 years.
Cheers!
You get used to the heat! I would avoid the floating Mosque area. The loudspeaker there travels far. 😂
