    Thanks for not gatekeeping the thermal issues, a friend of mine got one and man he's having a bad time kinda having a buyers remorse but the laptop is too expensive for that. Too much slim and thermals are not the only issue you are going to have, cpu at 101 means that there's maybe some or many other components runing as hot and that will hurt longevity because spikes of 101 dont kill laptops alone, aggresive ups and downs does, i would recommend (like i did to my friend) last year model, the chasis is mm in size thicker i wouldnt risking 2 grand in a laptop that runs this hot and only for 10% less weight. And if the oled is a must i would rather go for other alternatives

      What if your friend uses g-helper and temperature limit option to 75 degrees ? Does it then keeps cool and the aluminium chassis ?

    • @Donker1582
      @Donker1582 Місяць тому

      maybe try power limit options and set it to 60w max on the cpu

    • @jacebejara2022
      @jacebejara2022 21 день тому +1

      @@yankov-ink-bits he uses it and still does but it lower temps at a cost of like 15-30ish % of freq (not exactly performance but frequency) but the thing is if you just watch 1st party apps your temps are fine with some spikes but there are lot of times that spikes happens and apps like hw info reports a really aggresive spikes in temps and not steadly running at 75 even tho you have like 800 to 1ghz less freq and lower wattage, it really does impact performance (my other friend has the razer oled with the same specs so we can compare in really long sessions and at work or college), i'm a laptop enjoyer and i tried to help my friend with everything i could but needing to limit your cpu or even the gpu and at this premium pricetag i would rather offer a razer blade or a macbook. I dont have data from the ryzen version tho but as i said i rather go for the older model and have a milimeters thicker device or a blade if i really need the oled i know a little bit thicker but not needing to underclock it for making it run at the same temps as the blade. I had one super angry customer that came to return his because his son's legion 5i had way better performance than his zephy and also had stutters of thermal issues (he had a legion 740 2080 and he used to max everything no problem) lol its expected if you nerf the device too much it doesnt matter how slim it is if it still has a gamer logo it will be compared, the guy ended with a legion 7i glacier white he never wants a asus ever again, the sad part is that the zephyrus line is awesome i sold many and never had any problem or lemons aside from the miniled zephy duo and this year g16 intel. i would still recommend asus but this laptop is hard to recommend unless the customer is willing to cope the hard nerf and make it run like a i7/i5 to keep the thermals and longevity in check (and yes i know it can run no problem at 95 degrees my friend runs it at max power sometimes even hitting 103ish and it can do it i know but in 1 or 2 more years im pretty sure that it will end like those older acer or tuf laptops and he wants to sell it in the future so he is trying to keep it safe with the temps for sake of longevity) where i work i want to recommend something that will lasts as long as a desktop to stop the gaming laptop memeing but looking at this type of "cooler and slimer laptop" its hard to unmeme the "runs hot and they die quick just buy a desktop"

    This is the first review of G16 I've seen with an LCD screen. I expect a comparison between OLED (in G14 maybe) because upgrading from LCD to OLED costs 400-500 € and I don't know if it's worth it or not.

    • @crimsontechyt
      @crimsontechyt  2 місяці тому +2

      The colors are great, and you probably wont notice the difference unless you have black on your screen. I myself would never buy IPS over OLED anymore, since i've been spoiled by the OLED on the G14 though xd
      If you've never had a laptop with an OLED display, i dont think it's worth 500€ more. (But for me it is :))

    Great review. I'm glad you acknowledge the screen wobble and noisy track pad! I thought I was the only one that noticed it. However I'm mot paying for a laptop that cost 2K-3K CDN( 32GB version with 4070) that has screen wobble and trackpad that sounds cheap. If Asus ever decides to fix this, then I am sold. Alot of Asus notebooks have the annoying cheap clicky trackpad.
