All these years and the idea of making a legendary Anivia skin a fire phoenix hasn’t occurred to riot.
All these years and people still don't understand they are absolutely unwilling to waste any resources into a champion they're not sure will sell well.
An ice phoenix, without the ice.
While the idea seems like a "adoy" it is already kinda exactly what she is. I don't see this being a better legendary than her Blackfrost which is lore related. Anivia being an ice phoenix is already an inversion of the classic fire Phoenix, so removing that difference would make Anivia less interesting imo.

That's the whole point of a Legendary skin. To change the theme of the character altogether
Just like Blackfrost Anivia isin't about peaceful harmony anymore
And I don't see anyone complaining about Papercraft Anivia still being ice-themed, except for some model and vfx changes.
If Riot tried to make an epic or lower tier skin of that sort, without changing the voice lines, just like they've done with the Infernal skinline - save for Nasus, obviously - then ye, that'd make no sense either

this is like the Ruination skin line, but instead of Shadow Isles aesthetic we have Brand aesthetic. Brand is the ruined king of the infernal skins
Damn that Ashe skin is really sad because they could have easily done something slightly more inspired like having an obsidian theme to work off of. You know, obsidian, the glass-like volcanic rock thats really sharp and was often used for arrowheads?

i straight up cant even tell what im looking at with the new champ mastery thing. its just such a generic mobile game kind of thing that i literally cannot tell what mastery the person who is flashing it has
that pisses me off more because no one was asking for that, there is so much players want updated and changed but they decide that cheapening the look of the champion mastery is what they want to do

And the lack of being able to see my mastery points on the loading screen. I could deal with the champ mastery icon, but that royally pissed me off.
What gets me is the fact that I was motivated to play champs to get those S tokens and become Lv 7, both as a way to show some sign of mastery and because that blue was gorgeous. But now I have no care to play anything but Arena. I would purposefully play different champs to collect mastery on them all and become better at many different playstyles. Now, there’s no reason to play anything other than 2-3 if I just want to win
They could have release INFERNAL URGOT LEGENDARY. He uses ult, he goes from RED FIRE TO BLUE FIRE AND WHITE COLORES ABILITIES, BECAUSE WHITE IS THE HOTTEST COLOR OF FIRES. HE IS SO BEAUTIFUL I LOVE YOU URGOT

I understand why Skyen hates these skins so much, like occasionally there are good ones but as a whole, you can tell Riot actively avoids putting effort into them, which is a shame because the skinline could be so good with just the smallest effort

It's really tedious how infernal for them apparently means "character on fire" when even them already explored the concept with more creativity with Teemo, Fizz and Nasus

This isn't the first time either. Riot has had a looooong history of trying to churn out cheap skins and refusing to make proper changes based on feedback. Remember MF's ultimate? The main reason why they never reworked it before release is because the splash art, live 2D animations (login screen), animated trailer, and everything else was already finished before they even put it up on PBE. They had decided the skin was finished before ever letting the community judge it, so we just had to accept it. Then there's the Mordekaiser rework, where they outright refused to put budget into his skins getting proper VFX, even those within the tier that REQUIRED it having that. Imagine the community telling a game company that they can't just rework skins they purchased to have less than what they originally did, and still refuse to fix them. It took one Riot employee to create the effects on his own time for them to just say "okay, sure. Add them into the game". There's a laundry list of them just being lazy, scummy, or out of touch and refusing to go back on mistakes.
Like Necrit said, the only Infernal skins that were ever liked were Infernal Nasus, Zyra, and Diana's. The last two only being praised due to them being better than those around them at the time.

I want to point out for Necrit that Riot doesn't really make 975RP skins anymore, 1350 is the new baseline and it shouldn't be seen as premium. These skins are proof of that.

Yeaa no, u can't sell products of VERY different quality for the same price and expect ppl to accept it. How can a skin for 10$ have a different home guard, different effects and animations but then another skin for 10$ is a recolor of base?

To be fair... I kinda like the gas station puddles 😂 And the Eastern skins are pretty at least. But some of these newer skins are so utterly boring. The new infernal line should have stayed in the past. I wish they'd bring back the more unique skins, like the "Definitely Not" line, or the band skins (minus the weird tweets).

@@Seroxm13Amumu is not that bad. Diana is just old, the skin got released when most were about the level of a recolour. And she did not have the extra Vfx like Zyra's plants to do something more. So for it's age and what it's constraints were, it's really okay. But it is indeed a skinline that did not age well, they have so much more tools and freedom these days. Either they redo the whole base concept of infernal, or they'll just put it to rest

Diana is a little better, but still not a good skin. I used them all the time cause it's the only skins I have with them.

the color is more cheeto dust and crumbs tbh - like the skins are lackluster as heck but whats worse is they couldnt even translate the splashart into the game models. Ashe doesnt have fiery hair it's just normal hair for example. And none of it looks like fire on their bodies it's just orange

I main zyra since s3 and it still looked terrible back then. The quality difference between wildfire and haunted, her next skin was huge.
Love the high noon recall on the infernal skin for Ashe. Took me a second to realize, but looking at them side by side they're almost identical.
It's funny how something like "Infernal Bel'Veth" would have actually gone over better. At least she doesn't have many skins to compare to.

As bad as the skins are, the Ashe and Karma splash arts do go kinda hard and whoever was unfortunate enough to have to make them for these skins deserves a raise; they look so much better in splash.
Riot knows that splashes sell skins. Many people, maybe even half bother to look up the skin spotlight... but A LOT of people just buy straight from the shop.

It's hated because everything comes in a soulless industrial cash-grab packs just for the sake of a schedule.
In the legacy days, skins were unique and tied to champions identity... Now they release it in generic packs (because of money), instead of taking a careful look at individual champions and releasing it dynamically.
To paint a picture of the problem: For example, you know the skin Sultan Tryndamere? Imagine now 100+ champions having the same skin line/theme, *regardless of champion identity, uniqueness or if it even looks good.* The reason the skin Draven Draven is good, is not because of the quality but because it's unique and it fits perfectly, many such cases.

That's actually kinda ok. Have you ever watched your oven or heather flames? Blue flames are a sign of complete combustion. Gives off the idea of "purer" or "cleaner" fire.
If I'm not mistaken, people voted for the Infernal Diana skin and the Shyvana rework during the same event. Yet here we are in 2024 with more additions to league's worst skin line and still no Shyvana rework. In fact, I think there were two separate occasions where players voted for a Shyvana rework.

I mean, they fired everyone to cut production costs... something else had to go. Quality got hit. The reason why they'll release it is simple... People keep buying trashy battlepasses and 200$ skins. they are testing what they can get away with. (And complaining won't solve anything if you keep buying those)
Looking at champions that already have infernal skins such as Kennen and Galio spcifically, they're absolutely amazing and one of my favorite skins in the game, especially Galio with the recall animation
Karthus and Vel's Infernal Skins doesn't look to bad either
Well, too, if you'll notice the skin drops in Legends of Runeterra, they dropped an Arclight and Infernal line there too some months after the skin poll results were called. I think that is were spare art/concepts went.

I think the last time Riot released an awesome skin was Diana's winterblessed where it turns the whole rift into winter wonderland once she get a penta. Only downside is... it has to be a penta which is pretty difficult for her since shes basically a initiator unless shes gigafed
Blood Moon is probably the best Skin line there is . They are not overly done but still look amazing .

nah. it's not the problem about the creatives or the artists, they do their best according to what's they're directed to do and what they're given. creating skins goes through a lot of steps and goes through a lot of people before it's gets approved and the problem in my opinion falls on those people that make those decisions, it's the corporate dogs who thinks passion and having a strict high standard costs time and a lot of money and the management that wants to make profit by just doing the bare minimum amount of work that's why you get skins that just looks like "products" and not cool looking pieces of art.
League skins dont look ai chief. Cherish the art we get now because we're going to be bombarded by actual consistent ai art use very soon.
My problem with skins lately is that you can't tell champions apart on first glance anymore when they are part of a certain set of skins. Empyrean skins are the worst offenders but they look "cool" enough so people complain less, I guess.
I'm still waiting for my janna pokemon master, I even remember someone commenting that they wanted the Ezreal pokemon one because he shares the same VA as Ash in I think it was Brazil??? And I think that's pretty sick too.

Kinda reminds me of the infernal kennen whose chromas don't change the shuriken look. ur shuriken on the skin looks white for example, but when u throw it, it turns orange lol
you will see more and more skins like this. all skins from here on will be made in full recycling mode [ starting with Faerie Court].

I really liked the Ashe-Skin.. And when you mentioned the High Noon I knew why.. Ive got the High Noon Skin and the Infernal just looks like an cheaper Version of that.
