As soon as you showed the double string cord you made I knew exactly what I would use it for. I am making a beach bag and with suitable size string it would look great as the handles. Love this idea of cord making, thank you Tuula.
I crocheted a couple little drawstring bags for my granddaughters. The creator just used a long chain as the drawstring, and it doesn't look right to me. I'm going to try this technique to replace the drawstring. It's an interesting way to make a cord!
Thank you, Tuula. This is a much easier way to create I-cord. I have a couple of projects that call for an I-cord edging. I believe this would work wonderfully. It will also make a much nicer drawstring for the bags I crochet.
@@TuulaMaaria I made a couple by working with a strand of fishing line held with the yarn and crocheted over. The card was very strong but a little rough feeling. I am still working on my process, lol.
I knitted a phone case and was looking for a different kind of cord than l usually knit/crochet. I like this one here and it’s so easy and fast to make. Thanks a lot for the instruction.
Greetings from France 🥰. The weather is great over there. We have showers of blessings 20h a day😢. I would use your beautiful cord on my knitted hoodies with pompoms attached. And strong cords with pompoms attached to a stick, for my playful cats. I made one knitted purse for my phone and the cord stretched double the length because of the weight of the phone. Oooops had to shorten the strap by making a big loop🤣. Now it's solid. Thanks for sharing. Hugs 🥰🤗👍👍👍
Thank you for sharing! I used to live in France for 5 years in the 80s, near Paris, loved it! 💗 Attaching pompoms is a great idea, could use that for many things 👍👍

I just found you on youtube and noticed that you hold your left hand differently than other crocheter videos. I am having a hard time as a beginner figuring out how to hold my left hand comfortably with consistent tension. Could you please make a video about how you hold your yarn. Thanks.
Yes, I hold it the most common way in northern Europe and also many other countries, mainly non-English ones. I have two videos about holding yarn and hook. A recent one I talk about many different ways and at the end show how I crochet ua-cam.com/video/mQOfQH4-nrM/v-deo.html. And then I have a shorts video that shows just my own way ua-cam.com/users/shortsNJm87ImCWJI
I love your videos and your precise way of teaching! My initial use of this cord will be to replace a drawstring that broke in a pair of comfy pants I wear at home and while I’m painting - the kind that aren’t very fashionable but are invaluable! …exciting, I know🙄, but I will find more things to make them for once I’ve got the first one down! I love Ireland! I’d love to go back someday; this time to stay in one area and paint the wild beauty of the countryside and the coastal areas! 💚
A good idea for using the cord, we need clothes that are comfortable before anything else! Hope you can go to Ireland again soon, there certainly are so many beautiful places there!
I am really enjoying your videos. There's so much to learn! Hope you had a wonderful time in N. Ireland. I hope to get there one day as ancestors came from west of Belfast.

Love your channel. Question: in your video 3years ago about Tunisian crochet in the round, you showed a photos of some mittens (they looked like a Norwegian-type pattern). Wondering if you have that pattern for sale? Thanks!
Thank you! No, I haven't made patterns on any of my Tunisian mittens unfortunately. You may mean these mittens, I have a few process photos in my old Finnish blog but no pattern there either www.ristiin-rastiin.fi/2014/02/koukutut-kuviolliset-lapaset.html
Hello Tuula, I need some help please. When I crochet a dishcloth it seems to not come out the same size for width and length and I need to know why? I use the cotton yarn and the same hook as the video and the same amount of chains but still does not come out the same size as the video. I’m so frustrated!! Makes me want to quit crocheting all together! Something so simple and I can not get it to come out right and can not figure it out. Can u help me please?! Thanks! 💕
@@TuulaMaaria no i used another cotton called i love this cotton from a big box store here in the US but was the same 100% cotton but may have been a lil thicker than the one she used but the same hook.
@@Value1lady It is always worth making a gauge swatch IF the final size of the item matters. The tutorial or pattern normally gives it. Then you need to adjust your hook and yarn if your sample is not the same size. In cases of simple shapes and stitches you can also just add or deduct stitches.
Hope you enjoy your time in NI x
Thank you, I am! 💗
Thank you Tuula for this cord pattern. Maybe winding the cord around plant pots is one idea. Enjoy BEAUTIFUL ireland💕🎉🍀🎈
Thank you, that is a lovely idea, could use that in many colours!
I have been looking for an easy way to add a loop to a crocheted potholder. I think this will work great!
Wonderful!
That's really cool. I've never made on of those before but it was easy with your instructions. Thank you. I think I will use it on a little mini bag.
Great, enjoy making it!
Lanyards! Thank you so much, Tuula!
Great idea, thank you!
Thanks so much for this demonstration. I will try to use for handles on the crocheted market bag.
That's great!

That sounds like a great plan, certainly would work as handles! 😊
Sólo los he usado en pulseras para regalar...
Bracelets would be a lovely idea!
I am going to make them in a flower pot hanging Thank you for all the neat tips you always come up with.

That's a great idea, definitely nicer than just chain!
@@TuulaMaaria Yes, the bag was so cute, but the chain didn't do it justice!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. This is so much easier and nicer finished product when using yarn than the Romanian or I-Cord :-)
Nice! Great ideas for using the finished cords! Thank you for sharing!❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Love your video in Ireland. I made a crochet cord watching one of your previous videos for a drawstring. Thank you and we love youl
Thank you so much!
hehehe so 2 chains, 2 sc, a double crochet before all the rest sc! These would make good bookmarks!
No double crochet! These might be too rounded for a bookmark, the Romanian cord might be better for that!
Thank you, Tuula. This is a much easier way to create I-cord. I have a couple of projects that call for an I-cord edging. I believe this would work wonderfully. It will also make a much nicer drawstring for the bags I crochet.
Wonderful! 💗
I’ve used this for a hanging loop for Christmas wreath it’s nice and quick to do thanks 👍🏻🧶🧶🧶😊
I've been looking for crochet patterns to use for glasses chains, and I'm trying your cord in a variegated blue. I really like it so far!!
Thank you these cords could be very useful for lots of things ,have a good week x
Thank you! You too!
So glad to see this video… cords are useful in crafting lots of things.. thanks.❤️🌻
Yes they are! Thank you!
Always searching for a sturdy cord that wont stretch out as much. Thanks for sharing.
Great! It helps to crochet with something that in itself doesn't stretch at all.

Great, hope you managed to make the cord ok! Yes, I love Ireland - after making that video I already was there another time just before Easter.
That is very interesting. Would never use it, but good to know. Thank you so much again. I
