When it comes to two-way players, Barkov is one of the best in the league. He's the NHL version of Kawhi Leonard - just more offensively gifted. To put things into perspective, Pavel Datsyuk is likely the best two-way player to ever play in the NHL. You've seen him before - he's a magician on the ice. Very deft, sneaky, and highly skilled. Barkov may not move and dance like Datsyuk but he's smart as hell and is almost always in the best position he can be in at both ends of the ice. Barkov is just a sneaky good player who can shut down your best players while putting the biscuit in the basket. He's very strong on the puck - big bodied and uses his leverage very well in staying on his feet. Essentially, this guy can take over a game and dictate the pace of play.
thank you i’ve been saying the same thing i think Datsyuk has brought a lot to the game like his iconic pull back that players use today and other moves that he makes look effortless but he imo is also the best two way player in nhl history
@@nervanderi I said Barkov is one of the best - Bergeron's career has been better. Datsyuk is better than all of them. Although, Bergeron is 37, don't be surprised if Barkov surpasses him as he's 10 years younger.
Goalies actually rely a lot on reading your foot movement in shootouts. What you saw at 4:00 was Barkov using his feet to trick the goalie into thinking he was going to shoot backhanded. When youre shooting backhanded, the more angle you can get the better your shot is, so when they have the luxury, players will turn their skates sideways to load up a good backhand shot, as it allows their shoulders to rotate a lot further back, giving the shot more accuracy and power. This is how they land those crazy top-corner backhands most of the time
Ahh I see that makes sense. It reminds me in basketball, sometimes we do a hip swivel to make it look like we're heading in one direction and then attacking the other direction. Footwork and eyes are really important to really sell the move
I was a goaltender. One night, during a playoff game, the puck got behind me and went completely over my goal line just before I quickly scooped out it of the net with my glove ... but nobody saw it 'clearly' happen, except for me. In fact, everybody including the other team thought it was a 'miraculous' save!
All names ending in ‘ov’ as in barkov/federov/svechnikov/kaprisov. All are normally pronounced as “awv”. In stead of ‘ohv’ as in stove. It’s ‘awv’ as in ‘lav’ in the word ‘Lava’

Very good comparison

Bergeron? And as a Finn I must say Jere Lehtinen 2x selke winner as a winger not center. TBH Datsuk is really good.

@@TD_JR I think Bergeron did not have hands like Barkov or Datsuk... RN Fla leads 3-0 against Edm Stanley Cup finals.

He's reach combined with foot work and quick hands makes it look easy.
After all it's all in the spine + between the ears... 😉

Amazing video you are so awesome and my favorite UA-camr
That's much appreciated honestly 💯
Panarin next 😂 delta hockey I think has a good video on him
A good shootout video is Matt Hendricks "The Paralyzer". Not really known for scoring much but his shootout move he used a lot was really good.
Barkov started 3 for 13 and went 14 for 28 at one point. Meaning he went 11 for 15 at one point
I've noticed you watched best goals, dangles, hits, saves... you gotta watch best assists of all time
Say less
