    So the Zerg can infest and consume entire worlds, burrow between dimensions, engineer organic carapaces that can shrug off tank shells and claws that can slice through neo-steel...
    But a tree where you wanna spawn a hatchery, you say? Nope, go build somewhere else!

    Ironically Aiur is the safest place to get away from dark templars... until Tassadar happenes xD

    It honestly seems like Blizz intended part of the difficulty to come from being forced to have a really terrible terrain around your main base. Just that big wide-open area to the north with the broken ground to prevent colonies, and all the random trees to break up los... :x

    The "final offensive" is basically just the red Protoss being activated. Before the temple is destroyed, they litterly just sit there, not even mining or anything. The mission designers didn't really think this through, as it would take some time until they would be ready to attack; they get activated way too late to play any real part.
    On average, Brood War had much more challenging missions.

    I like the final Zerg Mission in the Original "StarCraft 1". In this final mission the Overmind has one final goal to succeed in the invasion of Aiur. And that final goal is to Decimate the Old-by-far Protoss Temple, and manifest itself upon the ruins to embed itself on the planet's crust. Some say the Protoss Temple is old by eons, because the temple marks the sight of the Xel'Naga's first arrival.

    It's not easier, we're just more sophisticated. I was 30 years old when SW/BW came out. The first time I played it was in a Mall in Billings, MT where a guy had a LAN setup that let four people play at once at a few bucks an hour. You could play the campaign as well. And, yeah, LASIK rules. Seeing the alarm clock in the morning, reading ...anything, and wearing John Lennon shades rules.

    *Overmind's ending speech* Thinking about it, this just brings up all sorts of weird questions. Like why didn't the Zerg immediately launch their own Protolisk project after the Overmind landed in Aiur? That was the entire idea behind their conquest, so you'd think now having access to the population of Aiur, they could immediately start making their two races as one and what not?
    But instead they just swarmed around and killed this and that, and then of course the Overmind gets killed and it fell to Duran to actually have a go at producing Protolisks. Like, what, did the Protoss just have a standing directive to suicide upon defeat, and since they evaporate upon death, the Zerg could never get their claws on living subjects to work with?

    • @ThePyrusKnight
      @ThePyrusKnight 7 років тому

      They probably didn't start the 'Protolisks' project since they knew the Protoss could strike at their experiments and ruin them.
      Besides, the Protoss don't have to be alive to assimilate them. :P

    • @Zidana123
      @Zidana123 7 років тому

      Yeah, I'll buy that as an explanation.
      But they turn into a puff of psychic smoke when they die. :( All of Duran's Protoss subjects were alive in stasis cells.

    • @ThePyrusKnight
      @ThePyrusKnight 7 років тому +1

      That's apparently an emergency recall that teleports them when they're in critical condition.

    • @Zidana123
      @Zidana123 7 років тому

      Oh, that's an even better explanation for why no Protolisk project then. You try to infest a Protoss and the half-mutated wreck just gets teleported out to a hospital or whatever and the Protoss ER people just set it on fire.

    • @ThePyrusKnight
      @ThePyrusKnight 7 років тому

    26:29 The Overmind moved himself to the one planet where no Dark Templar are welcome or have any reasonable chance to be present. Tassadar and the Executor really singlehandedly saved the Protoss by shepherding the Dark Templar to Aiur against the wishes of the Conclave.

    Yeah, the overmind killed itself so Kerrigan could take over. Because the overmind was bound to the will of (whoever the bad guy was Darud was working for). But Kerrigan isn't. So she can save the zerg race from annihilation. The old one? The dark one? Something stupid like that, I prefer to forget most of SC2.

    Amen on the LASIK. Got it when I was in my early 20s and it truly was the best purchase I’ve made. And you’re right, you get used to it so fast that you forget the hell that was glasses and contact lenses. I do still get dry eyes a bit though. More so in one eye than the other.

    Knowing what we know about the lore after SC2, it's obvious the Overmind plan was to nest in Amon's old crib, assimilate the protoss, and then serve as the host for Amon's body so he could destroy the universed. Hence the "Hour of Judgement".

    • @evo2225Official
      @evo2225Official 7 років тому +2

      Marcus Alexandre Leitão Guedes now that I think of it, this seems very reasonable

    • @hjalmarrsviakappa9666
      @hjalmarrsviakappa9666 7 років тому +5

      Marcus Alexandre Leitão Guedes Ugh, this why I didn't like the Sc2 lore, the retcon that is Amon was never connected to the overmind in the old lore, in Sc1 the overmind acted on his own accord, the "grand plan" as Zasz refer to it as was never about the hybrids, but about asimilating the most powerful creatures in the universe, to aid the swarm. The hybrid we saw in the secret mission was more or less to keep Starcraft at a cliffhanger, for those who found out about it. And don't even get me started on the primal zerg, a compleat slap in the face of old origin story for the zerg.

    • @careca0000
      @careca0000 7 років тому +3

      The entire explanation of Amon is not that implausible, since he masquerated his plan as that of the entire Xel'naga for millenia. Yet, the Overmind still had some flaws in his programming, and was able to saboutage Amon by exploiting loopholes (specially when it concerns Kerrigan), so he was not a simple lap dog.
      The primal zerg also did not come entirely out of the blue: the original description of the Larva and introduction of the zerg in the SC1 manual alluded to them, anda flashback in HoS shows them as original "larvy" zerg fleeing the modified ones in the primal Spawning Pool.
      The thing about Blizzard is that I never know when they are planing ahead on lore and where they are just winging it. One similar case is the gilneans in Warcraft: Genn Greymane is a werewolf, oh my, how clever, a werewolf with a name like Greymane. But he was introduced in the WC2 manual, back in 1995, when werewolves did not even exist in warcraft.

    • @Goldenmaster94
      @Goldenmaster94 7 років тому +2

      The Overmind was programed to "Asimilate" the protoss (Protoss can't be asimilated) therefore to create the Hybrids maybe with Narud's interference or something. Also the overmind was programed to believe that asimilating the Protoss was the final goal the zerg and perfection, but somehow he was able to see the future and realised that his purpose was a lie and so it created the Queen of Blades with less influence from Amon.

    My lasik surgery has the polar opposite story as yours.
    I don't know if this was the case but I don't think the anesthesia worked for me because, before the nurse applied the anesthesia (In the form of drops), I actually yawned which made my eyes tear up and then the nurse placed the drops on my eye and the tears most likely blocked off anesthesia from getting into my eyes.
    The procedure was torment and I had to grit my teeth so bad because it hurt like hell when they started working on my eyes. What made it worse was the fact that you had to keep your eyes WIDE open. Not just squinted, not just open, but full on blasted open! Do you know how hard it is to keep your eyes wide open, focused on a single red dot beaming at you, whilst you're eye is being touched because of the operation? It's hell. The post operation was the worst. The pain just kept growing and I couldn't even sleep, even if I wanted to, because my eyes felt like they were being pricked by needles. I could still feel it poking. Next day came doe and I'm 20/20 woo!
    tl;dr
    I got a lasik surgery. Anesthesia didn't work. Operation and Post Operation were one of the most painful moments in my life. Got 20/20 vision now doe.

    Radio Free Zerg sounds like it should be in command & conquer

  • @mattwiduch7462
    @mattwiduch7462 4 роки тому

    This does seem way easier but you are right that yours and most players skill cap has increased so much. It's very similar to WoW going back to Classic, the mechanics just seem so easy compared to what we do now and these RTS games are the same, especially with SC2 and WC3 offering difficulty level increases which really can give you a run for your money. However I do wish this map was way harder. It is the Protoss home world, it should be a bloodbath and a struggle for both sides. I purposely don't fully tech and use lower tier units on a lot of these maps so it at least feels like a somewhat challenge and there is some light RP in it, but even that in itself is dumb to have to do.
