Keep it pedestrian friendly means if you ride it at decent speeds it's a death trap. Just a much nicer way to put it.
I was watching the Dr. Suess movie. "The Lorax" and the main character was riding one of these around his town.

it needs a car mount.. that way you can drive you car near the city downtown unclip this thing and drive it into work... it's still small enough that I could park it near my desk. with $35 a day parking fees and $97 dollar parking tickets... it could be worth it.

It's too slow to be practical, and there will probably be so many alternative electric rides that are cheaper with better results.
It really depends on where it's used; sometimes slow is perfect. Unfortunately for this guy there are now electric monocycles out there far smaller and more practical than this suitable for using indoors and outdoors that are being produced in Japan if I remember correctly.

Is the Ryno just a novelty item? At 10 miles an hour, the answer is a flat out yes. Have two modes if you want to stay pedestrian but for that lack of speed you may as well get a single wheel electric gimmick for less than 10% of the price.
Agreed. The Solowheel which you can carry like a suitcase seems much more practical.
Evidently, a lot of thought was given into this, but unfortunately, it is neither here nor there. $1000 less than a segway, but not really less bulkier and there is no badge appeal. It's basically just an alternative, and if they wanted it to sell well, the price would have to be no more than $2000. A chinese unicycle or monowheel, has the same top speed, same reach, but the battery charges in an hour, it's as big as a briefcase and it costs $350 soooo yeah...

I think this Guy's very clever, the bikes very cool, but it is a new invention and still basically a prototype so I'm sure the inventor doesn't want anyone killing themselves on one so its 10mph, but I'm also pretty sure this same clever guy could surely make a slightly bigger one for the road when its proven itself very soon. :-) my best wishes to him. what an innovation!..wow!..very cool from concept to bike to riding position and looks. a bit expensive but so where mobile/cell phones when they first came out, but we all know what happened with them, so could happen with this form of personal transport to. I can only see good things for this clever man and he deserves to prosper from such a great invention and the biggest leap in the bike concept I've seen for years, if hover bikes are not the future then surely this is?..
+Gary T I think the highest hurdle for a larger, faster unit would be the safety factor for fast/emergency stopping while remaining upright.

Hopefully you can reduce the price to 700 bucks sneers it should be priced .... even segways aren't worth anywhere near the idiot prices they are because speed battery life and total range are lame ..... Maybe hondas one wheel transport will have decent range speed and batt life

+potter I don't think it was ever for sale. Go to some of the videos posted from over the years and all you will ever read is that it will be available at the end of the current year or the beginning of the nest (add whatever years you wish), and I think $5K is just an arbitrary number. I contacted them as required on their site over 6 weeks ago and still have yet to hear back from them.
