technically, its not a "bike" being that bike is short for "Bicycle" meaning 2 wheeled vehicle. It should be called a Monocycle, or "Mike" for short

I always envisioned the 'dicycle' becoming electric. Like a bicycle but with the wheels beside each other rather than in front and behind. With independently driven wheels, it could turn on a penny

@@Col316Sing go to a big city like NYC or Toronto, they dont have handlebars anymore but youll see people in full motorcycle gear going 70kph down the street on these things at least once a day. The newest ones can go highway speeds (well at least, the minimum speed required to be on the highway, but every 3 months they release faster and faster ones its an arms race right now). Youll see common people using small low powered ones for commuting in some places in europe where theyre legal.

What a brilliant mind and incredible skills you have. The uni-RYNO is a great way to tackle urban travel.
Seeing how you're located in downtown Portland, maybe I'll stop in on you sometime. I'd love to see how you manufacture certain aspects of the build. I know it's two years later but I hope you're still building the uni's.

Not bad. I could see the application in law enforcement and defence.
Conventional motorcycle design offers the rider the opportunity to take his lady sitting behind on the pillion seat on a romantic journey. The hugs, occasional naughtiness, whispering through the helmet "love you hotcake!", etc.
    Cheers!

damselfiend It's pretty cool yeah, it made me think of this other motorcycle I once was shown by my friend on some gadget website tho I can't remember what it was called or what site so its quite annoying.
But why It made me think of it is it has 2 wheels like a normal bike but with just a push of a button the rear wheel moved forward and to the side of the front wheel and you could ride it both on 2 or 1 wheel configuration.
Think it was also electric operated. >.<
My friend showed me it a couple of years ago.

I don't think it would matter, certainly wouldn't if it's engineered properly. I'm not sure of how it's designed but from the brief clip and the fact that the stabilizer function turns off/on it looks as though it's magnetic in nature. I wonder how fast it is though and what the stopping distance is as well as what the distance traveled per charge is? I love technology!

As illustrated in the animation at the end of the video when the brakes are engaged there is a certain amount of allowable slip, as the bike tips forwards the breaks automatically allow a small amount of slip to stop the bikes forward momentum without flipping the rider forward, since the seat autonomously balances to stay upright.

    • @somzer

      Yes, very clever, much genius.
What I'm talking about is a for example kid suddenly appearing in front of him, with one wheel you can not hit the brakes and decelerate as fast as you could with two.
It's a funny concept but dangerous as f***.

    • @Hezath

Björn Mätal I don't think the amount of rubber that he has on the road is a big concern. Think of how quickly an (admittedly lighter) road-racing push-bike can pull up with two tyres around 10mm wide. One fat arse sticky tyre should have plenty of grip, although I'm not sure exactly how much braking force the balancing system can deal with.

I think it's fantastic, but as with all unicycles the problem is *stopping* - or. Newton's 1st Law; an object in motion wants to stay in motion, unless acted on by another force.
My guess is (as is true for most monocycles) acceleration & deceleration can only be gradual, because you're using either gravity, or gyroscopic spin as the inertial dampener.
Whenever you apply a rapid stopping force on a monocycle, gravity isn't strong enough to overcome the inertia of the monocycle & so the device will continue turning with the rider atop!

Now you can go downtown and not have to worry about finding a parking place. And if you want to go far, take it on public transportation. This beats the portable automobile that somebody wanted to invent.

I remember at a friends house he had a unicycle. It didnt take 5 minutes beside the garage wall and I had it down. It was easy to turn but not a long distance thing if your in a hurry.

If you check out Dean Kamen and his Segway, you'll find the principle behind this kind of propulsion. This may be where the pantent issue came from.

I think it is. Absolutely awesome. Good job, sir. . Another note Michael Bloomberg mini Mike could use it in his circus act. No disrespect to you or your design at all just being a little. Anyway

I looked at the image and thaught "shit, that looks like wheelie from the kirby series".
Guy that built the thing says that his kid told him that he saw it in a videogame

The worst thing about that is there is absolutely no protection when you go down and likely it's going to land on top of you. And looking how quirky it looks it looks like it's going to go down a lot

Here in California, most places have banned skateboards, scooters, and bicycles on sidewalks! You have to be out on the street if it has wheel(s) and I don't think this would be any exception!
