Their upbringing is an an example of toxic parenting and what NOT TO TELL/ DO TO your children. Their hits in the 90s spoke for themselves and still remain club and radio bangers till this day.
I'm usually not into sampling but using the Kurtis Blow Christmas song for Too Close was exceptional. Butta Love is one of my FAVORITE 90s love jams! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
it was one my 1999 graduation class' songs on our graduation soundtrack, i remember how big that song was everyone was listening to it, it was the song of the year too
How could RL dad NOT see his talent! This voice was meant to be heard by the world. Anyone can see how passionate he was/is about music so to put him down and try to take it away is denying his purpose which is probably why he attempted suicide. I'm so glad he didn't! He is one of my favorite singers from that time... I hope his dad finally got with the program.
I agree, what his father should have did was give him advice such as pursuing education incase music didn't work. But not put his son down. Teenagers are fragile and need alot of love even boys.
I was in high school by the time the song dropped, so I knew what he was talking about...but I had never felt that "poke" when dancing with a boy. When I graduated a few years later, I went clubbing for real for the very first time and was grinding against a dude during an up-tempo song. I felt the poke. 😂😂 Side Note: Now, when it came to songs like "Do Me, Baby," "I Touch Myself," and "Me So Horny," I was a lot younger when they came out. I'd sing those songs to the top of my lungs and had no idea what they were really singing about. 🤣🤣
@MsNotzi shortly before "Me So Horny" came out, George Michael had a song called "I Want Your Sex" I was maybe 4 or 5 and my mother has me on an old VHS tape, singing that song at my sister's birthday party. I had no idea what I was saying. I didn't know what any of that meant. Kids at that age are like parrots. They repeat everything they hear and I was no exception
They had some big hits..people still vibing to their classics young and old! Especially "Too Close"and "Wifey"! I hate they split up, but made their mark in music and will always be some R&B kings!!!💯🔥💞🎵
I had the biggest crush on RL. I loved next, mind you I was only like 6 or 7. I love wifey, too close. I remember too close being redone by a group in the Uk called Blue. Thanks for doing this so much memories. ❤
@@imalwaysright the singer case went through something similar his dad was a devout jehovah's witness and didn't believe in singing devilish music so he left home to pursue his career .

WQRL legit sounds like a radio station. They could've used that as a theme for their album, one section could've contained more uptempo songs, and the other section could've been strictly a "quiet storm" vibe. So much potential there.
Woo Wee Doggies!! The dramas one has to endure to be in a group. All of the ins & outs...lefts & rights. Everything shoulda been discussed, typed up and signed before embarking on being a group. Blue a UK boy band did a nice cover of too close... and there was incest abuse with tweety and t low mom and grandfather their sister died young due inbreeding .. it was said on unsung so sad😢
Holy crap, I did not know that. The really sick thing is that it likely went on for a few generations, since it usually takes more than one instance for inbreeding to get to the point of being life-threatening.
I used to love "Too Close" so much, but now I can't listen to it anymore without thinking of that viral Vine song... Damn you Internet! Still great band though
I was 12 the first time I heard the uncensored version, and I was sitting with older sister who was in her 20s. I was mortified when I heard him say “I wonder if she can tell I’m hard right now, hmmmm.” My sister also wanted to sink through the floor 🤣🤣🤣
He causous on anyone that’s been that close to hurting themselves like that. They suffer from serious rejection and will see it often in places where it’s not. I believe the brothers tried to keep him in the loop, but him going solo over and over definitely hurt the group. It was just too soon!
