@ happened to Stephen King too with the Dark Tower series. That block is the worst torture for a writer it's like being stuck underwater not being able to breathe.

@@Sarah.Riedel Hmm, yeah, I can imagine that for someone struggling to get their creative vision written down in a structured, accessible literary form, it would indeed, be a kind of torture. But Stephen King has had a successful career for nearly 53 years, and in that time, has had over sixty books published. If he struggled to finish The Dark Tower, it can't have been that prolonged, or devastating for him. He's had a more prolific career as an author, than just about anyone I can think of. And that's not counting how many of his books have been adapted into hugely successful Movies, writing straight up Movies, or TV screenplays. So for him to claim to have suffered any kind of 'creative block' during this long and illustrious career is really quite disingenuous. Even without his TV and Movie writing, he's consistently averaged well over one book per year, so when exactly did his block happen? How long did it last? Even die hard King fans admit that The Dark Tower series was milking the theme so hard that the tit not only squeaked, but howled out in righteous indignation. That's not to say I haven't enjoyed reading a few of his books, on a casual, non-fanboy level, but even so, he does tend to repeat the same formula over and over again. But claiming to have struggled on one or two titles isn't really very significant when his whole career is taken into consideration. I'm not a heartless or unfeeling person when it comes to the crunch, but I find it very hard to elicit any sympathy for Stephen King's writer's block.

I remember seeing this obscure webcomic on 4chan like 10 years ago about a guy wakes up one night and finds a nightmarish figure eating his cat. He follows it into this insane lovecraftian nightmare dimension where everything is impaling and cannibalizing each other. he transforms into this grotesque thing with eyes and tentacles all over his body and I don't remember much else but in the end he returns to his house and eats his cat, so I guess it was some kind of time loop ordeal. It was extremely bloody and gory, basically DyE - Fantasy in comic form and one of greatest things I've ever read. I have no idea who made it or where to find it but these horse eyes texts reminded of that curious unnerving atmosphere in that comic.
@@multi-snakedragon4184 I'm pretty much entirely sure that it's more likely that Sidewinder just remembered that little detail wrong than that somewhere on the internet (no matter how vast it may be) there is some OTHER comic almost exactly like this one, except for the cat-eating fact.
You deserve more attention. I have an idea: bold green text on thumbnails. A goofy cartoon avatar. Air horn sound effects. Pictures of sexy ladies. Sell out, Fred. You deserve to be a star.
As a lover of Lovecraftian Horror, let's be real here - I am about 85% certain that "mother horse eyes" is a really veiled and oblique reference to Shub-Niggurath, one of the Outer Gods in the Cthulhu Mythos. Her whole thing is being known as "The Mother" or "The Black Goat with a Thousand Young", and the usage of wording in _9MOTHER9HORSE9EYES9's posts correlate this. This was always a piece of Lovecraftian metafiction, and actually, a not half bad one.
I'm disappointed in myself for letting this shit go under my radar. So much stuff I'm discovering for the first time through your videos! I love this channel; keep up the great research man!
this reminds me of a book i read in my 8th grade class... it was called "the last book in the universe" or something... the main thing is that theres something called "mind probing" in the book and its exactly like the beds
Can you do a video on the Maradonia book series. It's a self published book series that's famously bad. The author refers to herself as " The world's youngest author" And she wrote and started as the lead in a movie adaptation of her own work that makes The Room look like a Oscar nominee. The 1st book is Maradonia and the Seven Bridges.
i really enjoy seeing such intense moments of just. plain old human passion. none of these people did this as their job, they didnt get paid to archive or make art or voice lines (at least to my knowledge). they just did it because they love the story and wanted to share in the creation.
there was something oddly satisfying about MHE's last "out of character" comment - regardless of how you interpret the narrative and of what degree of truth you put in the "author character", sticking to this ARG-ish, mysterious format where you constantly try to subvert the audience's suspension of disbelief has the obvious downside of it being difficult to impossible to actually take credit, as a writer, for the work you've created, let alone get compensation out of it. So for the author to drop the persona for a second to announce "this is my work and I'd like to publish it" is kind of a relief - you can appreciate MHE's posts or not, but there's no doubt that a lot of effort was put into them and it's good that he plans to get something out of it beyond being a nebulous internet urban legend - we all enjoy weird shit hidden in the forgotten corners of the internet, but being an entry in a creepypasta wiki doesn't pay the bills.
I don't know why these kinds of viscera-cosmic horror stories intrigue me so much, same with the Flesh that Hates storyline from SCP, I think it's just the description of using flesh or like visceral material as technology that makes it so weird and different that intrigues me. (yes, I realize I sound like that villain that summons the eldritch abominations to the world)
Cyanic Cyber Do you read the Secret Histories series by Simon R Green? He's got a whole universe (comprising loads of different story threads) that utilise a lot of these themes

I dont think it was insanity.... I think it was a very carefully thought out and orchestrated bit meant to entertain... but the fact that it entertained so many reddit users was also part of the bit.... the target audience was one person... MHE himself.... that was the person he was trying to entertain, and everybody else was part of the plan.

So, this was basically a viral marketing campaign for a book. I wouldn't be surprised if the creator of both subreddits and horse eyes were the same person.
it sounds to me more like he was writing for fun, it became bigger than he was expecting it to, he ended up getting an editor helping him write it in the form of the Reddit mod. And so then he decided to try and write a book using what he did when he was finished. But it doesn't sound like it went anywhere.

Sounds intriguing. If you recall the title, please let me know!
He doesn't eat the cat tho
@@multi-snakedragon4184 I'm pretty much entirely sure that it's more likely that Sidewinder just remembered that little detail wrong than that somewhere on the internet (no matter how vast it may be) there is some OTHER comic almost exactly like this one, except for the cat-eating fact.
OH FUK NO IT WAS A COMIC?!!??!!! READING WOULD BE FUKED UP ENOUGH BUT DRAWING IT GOD FORBID

I can't usually stomach reading horror, so I don't think I'll be reading this, but I'm still very glad to know it exists and how it all happened.
I was thinking that this sounded similar to her!

Can you do a video on the Maradonia book series. It's a self published book series that's famously bad. The author refers to herself as " The world's youngest author"
And she wrote and started as the lead in a movie adaptation of her own work that makes The Room look like a Oscar nominee.

“Flesh interfaces” sounds like something David Cronenberg came up with
Definitely. First place my mind went.
Kinda Clive Barker also.

My life in the thrill kill cult?
This is incredible, really shows how creativity and intrigue can bring people together for the better.
You'd probably love Junji Ito's comics, in that case.
Cyanic Wasn't gonna do this, but since other people are recommending things, read/watch John Dies at the End. The movies available to stream on Netflix.
Edit: Okay apparently it isn’t anymore; but it’s likely still available on DVD there.

This is fascinating. Insane or no this person has some serious writing chops. Just pausing and reading his posts made me really wish this was a novel. Definitely going to be looking at the compiled narrative posts.
I dont think it was insanity.... I think it was a very carefully thought out and orchestrated bit meant to entertain... but the fact that it entertained so many reddit users was also part of the bit.... the target audience was one person... for all interested in hearing interesting "fiction" stories a narrator called "Dr. Creepen" has released a multi part series called "Breach". I've started reading the posts in the Interface Series. ....and I think I've found the cure for oversleeping. Or sleep, in general.
At first glance it feels a bit like an updated and expanded Slaughterhouse Five with an H.R. Giger sensibility.

I so adore your videos. Thank you for sharing this incredibly odd, fascinating story with us. MHE, whoever he is, is unbelievably talented and I hope he decides to finish his book, however the idea of posting short stories in Reddit threads like this is also brilliant tbh. He's probably the only truly talented person to ever post creative fiction to Reddit lmao.
