My first two weeks living in Mexico City did not go as planned: The good, bad, and the ugly of CDMX

- I am on a three-month adventure around Mexico. I spent 2 weeks in Merida and am now in Mexico City for a month. In this vlog, I’ll show you my first two weeks in Mexico City.
I moved into my Airbnb in the non-touristy part of the city. I specifically booked this apartment for the washer-dryer but the host told me it didn’t work on day 1. Watch me struggle as the washer-dryer flooded my apartment and I have to move to a different apartment.
I also go explore Roma Norte by foot to see what all the hype is about and why Americans look this place so much and I try lots of street food along the way. I also go check out a fancy rooftop with one of the best views in Mexico City.

Thank you for taking us along. Your channel is so immersive.
Thank you for coming along on this journey. I’m so glad you are enjoying it
Mexicans are some of the most talented people on earth im convinced. They are the sweetest people but on the same token they will Eff you up!!! Hence why they have world class fighters. They are mentally very tough people. I speak of this as an MMA coach. My best students happen to be Mexican. They work hard and progress.
Love the vibes positivity and inspiration!!! Thanks for sharing 💖
@@Prettynreallyfe Thank you love 💕💕
You’re welcome 💖
😭 having flash backs to when i had to navigate CDMX without my phone. Lol... Love that you made it out there and excited to see where else you end up! Do you plan on going to the Pacific side?
Oh no! I can’t even imagine navigating without my maps haha I’m so glad I got to Mexico City. I’ve been dying to go for so long. I canceled my trip to the Pacific side and did a detour but I’ll def have to visit at some point
I was i Centro Merida last week.. I love it,we had fun
The Historical Center is beautiful and I loved Paseo de Montejo too. I’m so glad you had a good time in Merida
@@KeishaBeTravelingWE did and the people we stayed with were really nice,.. Next is Mexico City, from watching your videos there,it definitely is a must visit for me.. have fun and be safe
@@BrittanyL916 I’m glad you enjoyed Merida. Yes, Mexico City is amazing. I have 2 more Vlogs coming with even more fun things to do there. I hope you enjoy it
@@KeishaBeTravelingI ALWAYS ENJOYED YOUR VIDEOS, SO KEEP THEM COMING.. BE SAFE 🙏
@@BrittanyL916 Thank you! I’m so glad you are enjoying them. Have another fun one coming your way this week
Love this! So glad you were able to get another apartment. This is Marticia from TR. my son changed my profile lol
Thanks love! I’m cracking up at your son taking over your page 🤣🤣 Yes, I was super happy to move after the whole flooding situation 😅😅
which city in Mexico offers the best and most affordable healthcare options, thanks again for this channel.
@@TheBolillo310 So far I’ve gone to the doctor in Playa del Carmen, Cancún and Oaxaca City. PDC and Cancun were super affordable. Healthcare in Mexico has been really good so far
Remember that México City is more than where U. S immigrants live, we have much more to offer
@@mariagpeestrada6451 I think it might be helpful to actually watch or even look at my previous videos. You’ll see how wrong your assumption here is.
Loved your vlog! I am thinking about visiting next month. Have you heard/seen/experienced any issues with the water crisis? Has rain changed the status of the crisis?? Thanks in advance!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. My vlogs are a month behind so I left CDMX last month. When I was in Merida in April, the story of the water crisis was in the news and I almost canceled my CDMX trip. It was fine and I didn’t hear anything about it while I was there. However, one of the places I stayed at a later time had a sign asking people to conserve water. I think you should be okay in the touristy areas.
another nice one thank you
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊
The fruit looks delicious, i would have bought every different fruits i saw😊
@@JuanGardea-g2m Yes, they were so good. I couldn’t get enough of the mangos
I like you video welcome to Mexico . Saludos .
@@joelresendez2048 Muchas gracias and I’m glad you enjoyed it
Thank you. Watching your video from Spanish Town, Jamaica. Share every nuck and cranny as I want to make Mexico my home someday. Subscribed.
@@vivveene Hello my Jamaican cousin 👋🏾 Thanks for watching! Yes yes. I have so many more coming. On Tik Tok, I have a lot more from my first year in Playa del Carmen before I started this Vlog. You can check those out to see more of the Mexico beach vibes
Do you like moving airb&bs like that?
@@antinatalistwitch111 Not at all but I’m traveling for 3 months so it just worked out that way based on availability
The part with the pineapples and papayas reminds me of downtown Kingston Jamaica
Right? It was def giving me Jamaica vibes too. How was the heat in Merida in June?
The heat was bad and it rained almost every day we did not do a lot during the day, but evenings and nights we go out a lot
@@BrittanyL916 Oh man! I heard it was raining a lot. The fitness studio I went to while there even flooded. I’m glad you were able to get out and hang out at night after the rain
0:33 How did you like Merida?
For me, Merida was nice to visit for a few days. It was nice seeing the colonial pieces and seeing some of the shows in Centro. I’ve been living in Playa del Carmen for the last year, which is just super walkable, and the streets are very lively all the time. I am a big city girl so Merida was very quiet for me. However, I had some good experiences there. I have a couple of vlogs showing my time there. Check them out when you have some time:

@@qw2659 Hey love! Thanks for subscribing. Yes, I’ve been vlogging the last couple months. I went on a little adventure around Mexico and checked out some other places. I’ve been meaning to come to Double Dutch for months. Imma try to come next week. Is it still Fridays? I remember it use to switch off between Friday and Wednesday a while back
@@KeishaBeTraveling Yes, Fridays 6:30 El Deportivo. 🤗
@@qw2659 Ok thanks love
What did she charge you (with tax) per night at the first place you stayed? Thanks.
@@Chelalagringa I booked this via Airbnb. It was $45 per night + $25 cleaning fee + service fees so maybe around $70-$80 USD if you do a single night.
The scene of you dancing made my day. Mexicans are such lovely people. Question: is MXC less city and busy than Merida?
Thank you! I had such a blast dancing with them. I have a full Vlog episode from that day. They were hilarious. Oh no, Mexico City is massive, bigger than NYC. It makes Merida looks like a little town haha I did a 2 day hop on hop off bus tour and vlogged those as well so you can see a little more of how it looks in those ones
Be careful on balcon del zocalo es very.nice but some times they charge alot
Yes, the drink prices were super high there for sure.
Please visit one of their movie theaters 😊 there’s even a VIP one that’s gorgeous and not too expensive.
Thanks you for the recommendation. I def missed out on the movie theaters. I’ll add this to my list for next time
Please visit them, please please, I own some shares,.
So you are not staying in Merida????
@@Beto_Avila No, I was there for 2 weeks in April. It was the first stop along the way of my 3 month adventure before I return home to the part of Mexico I live in.
Like most big citys, specially one of the biggest population wise,,,you know the deal girl😊...when you travel you either appreciate the experience or midaswell stay home!
@@JuanGardea-g2m Exactly! I am here to experience it all and enjoy the beautiful culture
😍😍
obviously youre still making your way through visiting different parts of Mexico, If i were to ask you to rank them as of now, in terms of which one you enjoyed more, could you do so? Just curious? Also, are you looking to make Mexico your new home, i know you went through with getting your residency there. I think someone asked you how the dating scene was for you or might hv just asked the general question of how the dating scene is for a non-mexicana...as always thanks for the vids and your receptivity to questions stay safe
For me Mexico City has definitely been at the top. It’s def a 10/10 for me. I absolutely loved it. Oaxaca would be second and then Merida third so far. Mexico is my home for now. I’ve been here for over a year now and absolutely love it. It’s hard to go anywhere else after experiencing the magic of Playa del Carmen. Yeah so dating wise, I’ll say that a lot of expats/immigrants in Mexico, especially in a place like Playa del Carmen, tend to live in and date within the American/Canadian bubble so basically the dating scene is similar to what it is at home. I have friends who have dated Mexicans and are having a good experience. I think socioeconomic differences can be a challenge though. Your average American/Canadian woman tends to earn significantly more than the average local Mexican who earns in pesos so that can present a challenge as well.
@@KeishaBeTraveling again i thank you for your reply.....am i wrong in stating that Playa is currently #4 on your list even though you describe it as magical? especially since you rated Mexico City as being on the top or are you excluding it because it is so magical, and you are referencing places youve visited outside of Playa?
you make a very valid point regarding the socioeconomic differences and its possible impact on dating.....
again thank you and looking forward to more of your content
@@j2dabmusic554 No problem! That was based on places I went to on this 3 months trip. Playa del Carmen will forever be my #1. It’s just magical. In terms of overall, here is how I would rate the places I’ve been so far in Mexico:
1. Playa del Carmen
2. Mexico City
3. Cozumel
4. Cancún
5. Tulum
6. Oaxaca City
7. Bacalar
8. Merida
9. Vallalodid
10. Puerto Escondido
@@KeishaBeTraveling thanks yea that's what's up Playa will forever hold a special place in my heart ❤
#447 Subbie 🙋🏻♀️! I enjoyed my time at Roma Norte because of various restaurants, stores, bars, centrally located, pharmacies, clinics, hospital, etc etc
Congrats on #447 🎉🎉Thanks so much for subscribing. I absolutely loved Roma Norte too. It literally has everything you need right there. I stayed in Roma Sur for a couple days later on and def want to spend more time in that area next time
You speak spanish so well. I want to be able to speak fluent spanish some day. How did you learn to speak spanish so well? Did you take lessons...?
Muchas gracias! I studied in Madrid for a yea in college and wasn’t allowed to speak English and I actually followed the rules and didn’t speak English for a year haha Lost a lot of it after college. In Mexico, I try to spend my time in spaces where Spanish is spoken. I spent hour and hours daily talking only in Spanish with my native speaker friends. I’ll post a short soon on ways I improve my Spanish here.
