I keep coming back to this video every once in a while and it always has the same effect on me. Love the sound, the tune, the guitar, everything. Cheers!
I tuned seven-string guitar in the same way and copied almost everything from this video, especially fingers. Tony made me pick up the guitar again, that's it!
This is originally a bagpipe tune and would not have guessed it could have 'transferred' but wow is it is beautiful and so well played. The kind of few minutes in life that makes our world a good place to be.Thank you for sharing it.
Beautifully played on a beautiful instrument. Greenfields are a complete myth to me, I'd be happy just to see one up close before I die let alone own one.
Just to let you know. I come back to this ALL the time. How does someone play a guitar like that. Has to be the most beautiful arrangement ive ever heard
Tony, you were so inspiring to all of us who spent time with you at NAMM. Even this cellist turned guitarist ran to all of my orchestral and guitar students to sing your praises. Thanks for being so generous with your time and talents as well as offering us insights into your techniques. Take care, sir.
Wow. One of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. Of course that should come as no surprise as Greenfield guitars are SO exquisite they can bring a tear to the eye of any listener especially when played by the likes of the great Tony M.
Those 12 who managed to click thumbs down either have no mouse control capabilities or don't deserve to listen to brilliant music. I mean. really????????
@Greenfield Guitars I had the great honor to get an impromptu private lesson from Tony at a music camp a few years ago while he was chilling upside down in a hammock under a shade tree... Words dont describe his skill and talent.. and he is so laid back and such a cool dude... he even signed my Alvarez,,,
The playing, the guitar's amazing tone, this is incredible! There is just so much talent out there that we never hear of. Why can't Tony make mega-millions instead of Britney Spears?
That guitar sounds utterly alive. Amazing. I've never played a Greenfield, and after hearing this, I'm saddened that I've never had the opportunity. It sounds as if every single wood fiber is making an active contribution. Killer tonal resonance. Congrats Greenfield! Wow. Of course, Tony's playing doesn't hinder either.
Every time i listen to this after some time I begin to think "How beautiful, how haven't I learned this? I know what I'm doing when I get home", enter time stamp 2:06. Oh well, Green Day covers it is.
Just amazing and the tune was written by a piper, I am sorry what I should say is one of the best pipers that ever walked Gods Earth, Tony speaks about the man in other videos all music lovers will appreciate the story and then research the man himself
I saw tony do this at union chapel in london, the great andy mckee was also there.... AMAZING. Brilliant upload I've been waiting ages to see this again. thanks :)
Just watched all of these video's of Mr. McManus. The new guitar has amazing tone, the sustain is superb and it just look's bad ass. Great work as usual Michael!
Lovely playing as always from McManus I played a Greenfield last year and thought it was absolutely fantastic, I will have to start saving the pennies.
Wow. I just uploaded a video of him playing this at the Canadian Guitar Festival. After hearing this, I don't know why I bothered. Absolutely amazing sound!!
@@jonrocker1983 Yes, and they're saying the bass notes sounded low for having a capo at 2nd fret-meaning lower than they expected, not knowing the tuning and likely assuming originally it was either standard or DADGAD and then being confused when the bass notes were a major third or a whole step lower than expected.
This is absolutely my favorite recording of this incredible tune by Tony McManus. But what happened to the video quality? Seems like it got degraded over time :(
There are many fine guitar builders out there making wonderful instruments. As in so many things in life different people have different preferances in how we percieve the sound of hand built luthier quality guitars. I happen to think that Greenfields sound wonderful, unlike any others I've heard. Research the $ that Beneteaus go for. I just saw one at a high end guitar shop selling for $13,000 US. I think that Michael's idea with the GF is a good one. Maybe I'll play a Greenfield someday!
Have to comment again , you do not come across many musicians like Tony McManus a real player that should cause many famous so called rock god guitarist to reconsider their talent
I keep coming back to this video every once in a while and it always has the same effect on me. Love the sound, the tune, the guitar, everything. Cheers!
Same
Just came back again, it always makes me feel better when I listen to this song
Me too!!
I tuned seven-string guitar in the same way and copied almost everything from this video, especially fingers. Tony made me pick up the guitar again, that's it!
Same!

I saw him do this live in union chapel London during an Andy McKee tour. It sounded so amazing
My wedding song. Met Tony in '92 at the World Scottish Festival in Montreal. What a gentleman. Rest in Peace Gordon Duncan.
Loved listening to Celtic music all my life. I stumbled across this number nearly 10 years ago and I still listen to it!
I can listen to this song over, and over again. Thank you Tony McManus for the music !!!
Two fantastic pipe tunes, beautifully translated to guitar.
that laser guided drill press behind him is much less precise
😂😂😂😂
I can never get enough of these incredible performances on that magnificent guitar which is so beautifully recorded!
The Sleeping Tune brings tears to my eyes every time I hear Tony play it. What an amazing guitar played by a god of celtic fingerstyle guitar music.
It brings tears to mine as well. My wife plays it on the pipes and the tune is so cathartic for me. It’s one of my newest favorites.
Beautifully played on a beautiful instrument. Greenfields are a complete myth to me, I'd be happy just to see one up close before I die let alone own one.
Beautiful playing. Such a beautiful arrangement. So much depth and feeling
Just to let you know. I come back to this ALL the time. How does someone play a guitar like that. Has to be the most beautiful arrangement ive ever heard
Me too, for years and years now!

Tony's playing inspires and continually surprises me at his musical imagination seems boundless ...
I hit this video by accident and I'm so freaking glad I did cos this is absolutely beautiful
Extraordinary. Doesn't get much better than this.
What a great thing, to have an extraordinary guitar and an extraordinary guitar player together in one place, with a good microphone.
Brilliant!

Viscosco More than one git has been thrown on the burn pile after hearing this guy I bet lol
I hear you but The Sleeping Tune finishes at 2.05 and that's not too hard to learn.
Gorgeous!

I am driven insane that he wont come to Ireland much, or maybe I'm just skilled at missing him.

magnifique composition et interprétation.
quelle est la marque de la guitare !!!
Visconti Angelo Michael Greenfield a construit cette guitare.
This tune is gorgeous - as is your playing!
He tunes to CGCGCD for this song.
Crocodingle 🙏 thank you!
I was thinking some of those bass notes were low for having a capo at the 2nd fret.
@@artiefischel2579 that makes the note higher...

it's amazing!
sensacional! awesome!
I imagine the angels will play jigs and reels on the trumpets.
TM is a legend.
I heard many guitars but none of them has the magic sound of the Greenfield guitar!
Probably people who don't know what true music, talent, and art is when they hear it.
Awesome! Makes me want to pick up my guitar right away. I think it's in CGCGCD tuning btw and not DADGAD.
Any Greenfield dealers in Eastern Canada... Cape Breton, Halifax areas?
3 Dislikes?? Wow......who are these people? This is inspiring.
This is why I love, Fingerstyle Guitar! No BS, a just person, and their guitar!!
where can I buy an mp3 of this?
how much will the GF cost ? i love your guitars t btw they are the most beautiful instruments i have ever seen .

Beautiful! Anyone know what microphone that is?
almost sure its the usual km-184
Do you have a cd someone can buy? Absolutely great guitar work.
Scott Allyn www.tonymcmanus.com
I can't figure out how to play the coda (Na Gossidich I presume). Is it available any lesson/tutorial/sheet anywhere?
message me here or via facebook tonymcmanusmusic and we can discuss
You do an awesome job! do you have tab for this?
Colin Ferguson Clark yes
It's not greedy man,but for sure it's a pity you can't figure it out by ear :P
Where can we find the tab?
Is there a tab of this masterpiece somewhere in the world ?
