Perry Como Live - Moon River

- Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall. December 5, 1962.
With Mitchell Ayres & His Orchestra. Pianist - Billy Rowland.
From the 1961 film "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Music by Henry Mancini and lyrics by Johnny Mercer.
These lyrics by Johnny Mercer were his favourite of all the wonderful ones he wrote. The music changed Henry Mancini's career, bringing him his first Academy Award ( in 1961 ) and broadening his reputation beyond the jazzy 'Peter Gunn' and 'Mr. Lucky' kind of scoring he'd been doing. The song was almost cut from 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. But clear heads prevailed and it actually helped the film become big box office. And for Perry Como? 'Moon River' gave Perry another dreamy ballad to sing in his inimitable dreamy style.
( notes from "The Incomparable Como" Readers Digest UK compilation 1975 )
Beautiful and soft.
One of the most underrated singers of all time. RIP Perry!
Perry can make a famous song sound new and special
One year later I still like listening to Perry's way to deliver a song. Thanks Cost.🥰

You are welcome!
Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river and me
He jst got it.Great singer.🥰

Truly beautiful!
Спасибо Ютьюб! Наслаждаюсь!!
Beautiful cover version.
So lovely...I listened over and over.
Questa voce continuerà ad accompagnare tutti coloro, che amano il romanticismo vero, fatto di sguardi, parole, gesta delicate, e i momenti unici da raccontare ai propri nipoti.
What gianpio Carbonelli wrote. (Damn, as a half Italian I still regret I am NOT completely fluent in Italian.)
@@stevesmith6685 he wrote a beautiful words about a great man ( perry) and what his voice, great times and other beautiful things about him will be remembered and handed down to our grandchildren
Wow 😍
Linda música e apresentação perfeita!
fantástica versión, no canta, simplemente acaricia con su voz
You have done it again Cost. Thank you.
And I still have a lot:) You are welcome!
Wish you could come up with the full version of " killing me softly with her song " cost because the clip with julie andrews much to short for a perry classic
I also would like to find the full version. But I do not know of any more concert or show, where Perry sang this song live
❤09/25/2024❤
I don't like to compare renditions of song. One version is as different and thoughtful as another. But... I like this version better than the hit by Andy Williams. Maybe because it is closer to Audrey Hepburn's vocal in the movie. I don't know.
Cost was he in the Philippines can you please look at it..still remember we have a singing contest similar to Perrys voice and we have its Diomedes Maturan they named him the Golden Voice he sang Rose Tattoo that was in the 60's Google it thank you..
Josie, I haven't found any information about Perry's visit to the Philippines. I guess he was never there
Yes, he was in the Phils. 1982.
If he was reading the lyrics he got, is that why he sang *whenever* you're going instead of *wherever* you're going?
He messed up for sure. Piano guy kinda confused him. Perry tried to catch up.
@@ricksandoval1187 Was the piano too fast? Maybe he was making an inside joke to the piano player about his timing--"whenever you're going I'm going your way." I just thought of that but I doubt that's the truth, but it would be funny if it was. Also, if he's trying to catch up, "whenever" is a little easier and quicker to say than "wherever". Or maybe he was just doing a little Sinatra type ad lib.
@fredbloggs6080 I was actually meant at the 2min (exactly 2min mark) where he says waiting round the bend. The piano guy started playing that solo in a weird key. I got confused the first time I heard it. I though he was doing a medley and going into another perry como hit or something
@@ricksandoval1187 I'm not sure what that Interlude riff was about. Maybe this was a rehearsal--there's a link to another video at the end of the video where he gives a full performance with less intrusive accompaniment. Are you related to Arturo?
Cost do you have a copy of the video from January 10, 1954 where Perry Como jumped into the pool
Cynthia, no I don't
