Hello, I cleaned my EGR valve today on a Astra j 2012 1.7 cdti eco flex 130bhp S/s CAFJC11, few things to mention blanking the egr would cause havoc to your egr cooler and to the DPF you will get a massive buildup of oily carbon behind the egr inlet pipe, I recommend you clean the egr valve one a year . Things to note not mentioned in the video you need to sizes of socket 12 mm for Middle and back bolts and 13mm for the front two bolts, you should buy two cans of carbon cleaner and lots of clothes remember the oily carbon residue takes some cleaning, you need be very patient make sure you clean the pipes of the car too very important, I also disconnected the egg valve outlet pipe and cleaned the crap out of the at too. Just plan ahead take your time and be prepared to get filthy have a few pairs of rubber gloves, this a good hour Any questions-please ask..
@@harrytitmuss Yes, absolutely clogged up and the connecting pipe, took me a good hour to clean all the crap out of the EGR valve and the pipe, get a good carbon cleaning spray. I have been driving for 4 months without and issues. EGR cleaners do not work you have to physically remove the valve and clean it should be part of an annual service.
Yes, if you blank it off like this you will need to have EGR Delete programmed in the ECU, otherwise the ECU will detect that there is a block and it will give you the emissions telltale (Engine symbol). The way it detects this is by measuring the pressure on the MAP sensor, when it opens the EGR, there should be a sudden change in pressure, if this does not happen it knows that something is up and give you the warning light. This is the reason there are blanking plates with small holes in. The holes will make the pressure change, but will not allow as much exhaust gas into the engine. It's better that nothing, but it will not completely avoid the exhaust gas into the intake manifold
There is a limited blank plate with a smaller hole in that doesn't set the engine light off, but a full blank will. So if the engine light bothers you that much then go for the one with the smaller hole in 🙂
This operation is uncorrect. The ECU is programmed to manage exhausted gases from the engine. In this way, the ECU is not correctly setted for the low RPMs. I made this and the result was a poorer performance of the engine.
@@paulkazjack it's a astra h engine unless you have dpf on it? Then it's a astra j I know because I've got one that's on crossover year so I had trouble finding the correct engine
Thank you so much ! It 's very clear !
Thank you very much it is very helpful
I recommend this video 👍
Thanks bro think I will do mine
At last a clear video of how to do this. Brilliant. Thanks.
@P Mc Why would I wan't carbon in my inlet manifold?
Hello, very good video, Can you tell me where you buy this blanking plate?, because I can`t find one. Thanks.
Good video
Great video. Where I should use a spray to clean the egr without removing it?
Please any help
Air intake manifold while engine is run at low revs Wynn's egr clearer tells you how on the tin
Where did u get the blanking plates from?

Did you get much carbon out when you cleaned the egr mate?

My inlet manifold was sooooooo blocked up too...needs doing again my astra has no power again..would a oil catch can be any use?
If while doing a remap I also delete the EGR.. do I need to blank it off as well or can I just leave it as it is?
Blanking would be good .
Is this same as a vauxhall zafira tourer 2ltr
What is this operation for?
i made a plate with 8mm hole, car after short time ran like shit, had to put it back to standard
Is this process reversible .Does it require Software ECU modification etc.thanks

Is the a17dte engine the same?
@John Doe How do you do the EGR delete programming in the ECU? With opcom?
Hello everyone just after some advise please... if my egr is blanked off. does it still need to be cleaned ?
Thanks
No.
Cheers pal
Can I blank my insignia without it going into limp mode or do I have to have it reprogrammed
Requires reprogramming.
Can this be done without modifying the ECU?
Hey Mark did you ever try this and get round modifying the ecu
you have to do reprogramming also via diagnostic tool to turn egr off, something like remapping ECU
the check light won't light up?
u have to do ecu remap definitely
Andrius Ra where would you recommend for Ecu map I have an Astra 1.9 cdti and just blanked mine off
@@kthup can you please help me to remapping egr in ecu. I have kess. Thank you
@@mrforeveryour113 sorry i dont remap and never have.i no longer own the car too. sorry
I just want to thank l don’t know what I would of done 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
When you install this plate, not get a Check Engine fail?

Don't u need to disable egr?
via diagnostic tool yes you have to do reprogramming of ECU software and turn egr off
Surely this doesn't work?!

That’s why you get it remapped afterwards
All U need to do is to remove the vac pipe put a screw in it and it thinks it's still attached to egr then U don't get any warning lights in dash
Im not sure why people would blank it off. Its there for a reason, just clean it and put it back together.
@@bigdosser7777 Didn't know that. That makes sense, cheers 👍
@@bigdosser7777 Lets take a leaf out of China's book then and add to the pollution, bigger engine's means more BHP and more fun.
This will destroy dpf in time...

Car will go into limp mode so don’t waiste your time.
Do reprogramming via diagnostic tool turn egr off and limp mode will be past tense
