Well this made my day :D That you guys!
A fascinating yet underrated form of movie magic.
Wow, a great description!
Absolutely agree
Can you also explain the sound deconstruction of the Dilophosaurus next? @@INDEPTHSoundDesign I've read that whooper and black swan's, hawk's, Guessing harris hawk? Rattlesnakes, great egrets, and howler monkey's were used for the Dilophosaurus. I definitely also hear some baby ostrich chick trilling sounds in there. And Maybe some Eastern Screech Owls, Loons, and Cockatiel, sounds in there too.
Check out my Instagram post(s)!

@@INDEPTHSoundDesign Your instagram post on the dilophosaurus says. The cute sounds of the Dilophosaurus comes mostly from swans. But doesn't explain what other animals the dilophosaurus sounds were from.
wow so my favorite raptor sound was just a man growling?? wish he'd reveal the secrets of those gorgeous wire snapping sounds on the fence in the initial rex attack
And a Goose.

Im not gonna say I know for certain, but this particular one sounds like a Predator vocalization from the movie of the same name. Would be real cool if it was the same actor that they used.
I'm reasonably sure part of it was a metal slinky or a tape measure flappung.
I'm fascinating by the fact that a human being did that sound!!! Would be great got his name... he's amazing!
His name is Dietrich.
It’s always the little things that make a movie so big.
Can you explain how you did to design Jeff Goldblum voice ? because it's full of sounds I don't understand
🤣
Haw haw haw hWw
@@ItsKevin06 Heh Hoow! Heh Hoooww!!! 😎
It's complicated ua-cam.com/video/vTZCjCYsytM/v-deo.html
This is great, I really like this shorter format because it’s much easier to digest and more convenient to watch
Crazy how the iconic sound of the trex is a baby elephant and the iconic sound of the raptor is another baby animal lol the adolescent dolphin
A baby is can be badass sometime
What's cool is that the final Rex roar from Jurassic Park is also train brakes!
And the Dilophosaurus has Baby Ostrich Trilling sounds. All three JP predatory theropod species, in the first movie. Used Baby animal sounds. 😮
@@Amp661 That's not True! No inorganic sounds were used for the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park 1.
💯🐘 🐬
You guys deserve an award for best sound design for these animals in that awesome movie. Excellent job!
Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but they won 2 Oscars, lol.
You.... just sent me back like 25 years when I watched this on TV as a kid.... Outstanding!
That scream always gives me the creeps
The other day we were at the zoo. I heard a Rhinoceros horn bill calling and I swore that was the sound they used for the barking sound for the raptor. Surprised to see it was actually a tortoise 😅
00:37 - Is the friend Peter Cullen? Sounds like his Predator clicking.
In another talk he mentions his friend's name is Dietrich Smith.
I remember learning of this in the special features on the Blu-Ray disc; truly creative. I also hope that the next video will show King Kong (2005).
It's very neat how people who work at Skywalker Sound design believable sound effects
The Sound of the Raptor Bark is modifying the sound of the Galapagos Tortoise mating
Damn, that's my favourite one
There's even more detailed information in my Jurassic Park post on my Instagram page!

Oooooh! I've always wondered how they made that sound!!!
0:40 I think it was Frank Welker that made that bit
Sound design is a hobby of mine and this is extremely fascinating and insightful
In the sequel, there is a scene where a raptor chases the characters and attempts to dig under a door. The raptor lets out a loud growling screech that is reminiscent of the sound E.T. makes when he screams while running away. It’s possible that the filmmakers took the sound sample from E.T. and modified the treble and bass to create a more monstrous-like growl for the Velociraptor.
I’ve never heard an African crane making that noise, but that’s my favorite noise the raptors make!
African Crowned crane Call sounds: ua-cam.com/video/5mkFOKZNqYc/v-deo.html
@@SlimWu I searched videos for like 30 mins after watching this video about the noise lol they still don’t make that hooting noise. I love it though
@@SlimWu I should say they don’t make that hooting noise in the video you linked. That was one of the first I watched as I was searching. They were noisy though! Lol poor dude couldn’t get a word in hardly
@@SlimWuIt was actually a different species of African crane. South Africas national bird. The African Blue Crane that was used for that hooting sound of the Jurassic Park Velociraptors. ua-cam.com/video/YRDQN0laJIQ/v-deo.htmlsi=YC_XlgH_NG9wnbna
Frickin' incredible!
Fantastic 🔥
So freakin cool. I love the raptors
Turtle: *moaning sounds*
Kid: Dad, why is that turtle calling for the Velociraptor?
Dad: ummmmmmmm......
0:40 HOW DID BRO DO THIS WITH HIS MOUTH THO LOL
I didn’t know they used a human voice 😨 that makes it so much creepier to me.
Neither did I. 🤣
Some people (like Frank Welker, Peter Cullen, and Dee Bradley Baker) are really gifted and make convincing animal noises.
I recorded my Chickens in slow motion fighting and when a rooster in the back made a rooster call, I realized it sounded like a dinosaur from the JP movies
amazing!
This is awesome ngl
0:26 That is why geese are the most FEARED creatures on Earth!!!
Extremely cool😎
Can't believe the raptor purr was a guy.
There is a video on how the sounds were found and compiled with commentary from Gary Rydstrom (the creator of the sounds)
baby animals really do put the icing on top of these dinosaur noises don't they
My favorite raptor vocalization is the one at the 10 second mark, which I guess is the African crane? Or is he talking about the sound that came before it, while he was talking? If anyone knows where I can find that sound, let me know.
Yes the crane was the one at 10 but idk what the one was at 9 and I’m not talking abt the tortoise
Both 9 and 10 are the crane (different sonorisations by the same animal)...
I've always felt the same way!
Velociraptor be like come here human gets hit by something at 1:35 the velociraptor staying owww
Awesome. Is there a list of sound design commentaries on Blu-ray or DVDs?
Not really. Only Dilophosaurus and maybe Velociraptors
Please make the Explaning the Jurassic Park Dilophosaurus sounds
No audio commentary explanation of the dilophosaurus sounds exist... But there is a lot of text! I compiled it all in the latest posts on my Instagram!

@@INDEPTHSoundDesign oh okay
@@INDEPTHSoundDesign okay, i look at your Instagram, the cute sounds gary use for dilo, i Thought he uses monkeys. but no, it was swans the whole time my god
@@bielbarcellos_commenter Swans. Specifically Australian Black Swans and Trumpeter Swans. And Baby Ostrich Chick Trilling sounds were combined together. To make the cute Dilophosaurus sounds.
Mind blown
What is a de-barked dog?
Holy shit...I just looked it up. Pretty horrible. Basically removing key tissue from the dog's vocal chords, so they can't bark anymore....It's messed up
@@jebatman756 i feared it was something like that...
Is there one on the spinosaurus?
“A goose that was really mad at me”
What does it mean to have the dog de-barked? Another great video.
Thanks! 😄 De-barking a dog is the really cruel process of altering a dog's vocal cords so it can no longer vocalize normally. That's why Gary specifically says "I didn't de-bark it"
@@INDEPTHSoundDesign
Oh man.. that's cruel. I see why he had to clarify that. I appreciate your response!
@@INDEPTHSoundDesign Geez. That is cruel.
When he said de-barking, I was hoping he meant digitally removing the natural low frequency of a raw sound file of a dog bark. (I hope I phrased that correctly.)
I'd like to meet all those voice actors
Can you do dilophosaurus
Can you guys or girls do the dilophosaurus sound effects please.

i loooove the dolphin noise
Interesting. When does the turtle make those sounds? Hmmm....
The Galapagos Tortoises makes those sounds when they Giggity.
Thanks for this breakdown!!!! 😩🔥🔥🔥🫶🏾🫶🏾
**My only miiiiiinor gripe here is that the visuals/video clips (on 🔁) didn't "match their respective animal sound" 😅 (Ex.: the walrus & goose sounds not matching their respective moments on screen, like the kitchen window nostril breathing & the raptor "communicatively snarling" towards one another 😏)

@@INDEPTHSoundDesign ok,thanks
Interestingly the most terrifying sound for me is coming from a human.
What is de-barking?
A cruel form of surgery that removes a large amount of a dog's voice box that prevents them from barking
Now I know.
African Crowned crane Call sounds: ua-cam.com/video/5mkFOKZNqYc/v-deo.html
It still pisses me off to hear these sounds utilized in both Falling Skies and Avatar. The blatant betrayal.
What kind of tortoise is that?
Its them having the dirty noises help 💀
Interesting, now mind sharing with the class a full mix, Rydstrom? Don't make seem as though we're not aware of the Chimpanzee, Jaguar, and human vocals here (0:08, 1:32, and 1:35)

Walrus
Goose
