A Vest-Yesss! That would look GR8 with a button down OR A Turtleneck-in any of those colors

Love your vest idea- perfect! Stephen West has a an online brioche workshop that might interest you 😊 I absolutely get it about needing colours in the knitting, or a super interesting pattern if the yarn is not full of colour play! My favourite of the 3 cabled jumpers you are thinking about is the more intricate v-neck. I bet you can do it, step by step! 🤗

Yes-the v-neck is gorgeous and my favorite type of neckline. I am a little intimidated for sure! Part of me wants to do a smaller cabled project first…

Love how you’re self-reflective as you knit! Me too.
Cables are awesome. I have no doubt in the world you can do them and your light-coloured yarn is perfect as long as its firm enough to hold the structure and not too soft and floppy. Cabled patterns require some focus to ensure they’re correct but they’re not hard. Just follow what the pattern says and then pretty soon you get to see what’s happening and you can read your knitting to know it’s going correctly.
Check the yardage requirements of what you’ve got against the pattern though, as cables use more yarn than plain knitting due to all the crossing over. Can’t wait to see what you do.

Hi there! Thank you for your encouraging words! I do feel like this yarn is just perfect as it is non-super wash and is nice and wooly. But yes-will double check yardage as there is nothing worse than running out of yarn!

Oh Leena! You made me laugh out loud with your brioche sweater 😂 I wish we could hang out and knit together, it would be so much fun! I live in Finland, so that won’t probably happen, but I’m happy to have you as a knitting companion via UA-cam 😊 Thank you for your videos, I enjoy them so much!

Good for you, only knit what brings you joy! I have a sweater I started in Hedgehog fibers Monet, I adore the yarn, I got most of the way through the yoke, and it's just not doing the yarn justice. I am going to frog it and start again...not sure on the new pattern yet but I'll know when I find the right one. LOVE your pod. You bring me joy as a fellow pink lover, and your use of colour is inspiring 🩷

Yay for you! Don’t be frightened of the cables, if you can knit and purl you can do anything! Frogging is painful but, for me anyway, having something that’s just not right is worse.
I can’t do magic loop and the small circulars hurt my hands, I’ve discovered using 2 x 16”needles works best for me. It’s like magic loop without all the stuffing about.

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  Рік тому

So how does that work with 2 16” needles?? This is a method I’ve never heard of. Please share.

@@AnotherKnittingPod ½ the stitches on one needle and half on the other. You use one needle like you normally do and knit those stitches then drop that needle and turn your work and pick up the other needle (pretend it's the only needle you have) knit those stiches and then just drop it, pretend like it doesn't exist and keep going. I think I saw it on the crazy sock lady channel - if I've confused you maybe check her out. Also you have Chaigoos (love them!) I will often get the shorter cord bput the needle I like to knit with 5" and then on the other end the left hand needle I will either put a smaller size (the left needle is only feeding the stitches for you to knit so doesn't have to be the same size) or a shorter tip, that way I'm always knitting with the longer needle and don't need another set. You need to be in my head where that makes perfect sense. If I've confused you just let me know. I bought 4" tips and have the red and blue shortlies set and I got loads of adaptors to use the short cords but the bigger needles etc and lots of connectors so my cords can join or be short - like lego for knitting, spent a fortune but good tools and adaptable ones might the joy continue.

Hi Leena! Your decision to frog the Weekender is a sensible one and you are the boss of your knitting! ❤️ Yesterday I frogged an entire Flax sweater because I thought I knew better and could get away with not alternating skeins of hand dyed yarn......(well they tell you to alternate for a reason )and because I just wanted to be done, it was a disaster......it didn't bring me joy the entire time I was knitting it because I knew I was not doing it right...so so foolish. So there ya go......now it's gonna be an afghan.....lol
So knit what ya love, follow the recommendations that mean something and don't knit just to get done......knit to be happy.

Hi Leena, I think you were very thoughtful about your decision to frog the Weekender. I have made many pattern/yarn mismatches, and it is disappointing to put that much time into a project only to be disappointed in the end product. I'm excited to see what you choose to do with the yarn and also what yarn you end up with for your Weekender! Regarding cabled garments, it looks like you have some lovely options for the yarn already, but do check out Norah Gaughan's patterns. She's very well-known for her textured garments, whether it's cables or another type of texture. Her Shifting Sands sweater is interesting, and my guess is that the pictures do not do it justice.

In January I went thru my WIPS and frogged a bunch of things that didn’t make me happy. Then I finished 5 pairs of socks which feels good. I have so many WIPS that only need about 10% done…bad habit I have! I am looking to make some garment in cable as well. Have you considered making an informal KAL for Stephen Wests sock? Your first ones were so beautiful! I too bought his ebook and would love to have someone to knit them with each month. I love your style of podcast of just life and thoughts mixed in with knitting. I can’t wait until your next podcasts. Good choice you made I think on the weekender. See u next time!!!❤

@@AnotherKnittingPod Pia Tran is an older Danish lady and has some nice designs. I like her short sleeve spring/summer tops. She has a podcast, fiftyfabulous, or fabulous fifty knits. Something like that. She does the podcasts in both languages. She lives in Italy, but one son is in Texas and the other in Denmark and her husband works a lot in Dubai so she travels a lot. In January I was going thru WIPS and frogging some, but didn’t realize I had so many unfinished socks. So the 5 pair were not totally needed finishing, probably closer to 3-4 pair depending on what needed to be finished. There is a fabulous big yarn store in Dallas next time you go you should stop there. Pia went on one of her Texas trips and filmed it..,as in Texas everything is HUGE! The sock Ebook is a great value, first month he gave ones you did plus a bonus sock, this month’s is a painting triangle sock, so pretty. When I bought book was 36 euros for a baker’s dozen of socks. I am surprised no one is doing a KAL for them, really pretty. Waiting for your next installment!! Happy Knitting..

Love your idea of wearing that brioche sweater as a vest. Knitting should be a joyful experience and not add stress to our lives.
A few years ago I bought some beautiful Drops Air, which was the recommended yarn for the Turtle Dove II by Espace Tricot. Once I finished the sweater, I did not like how the fabric bunched up under the turtle neck. So I frogged the sweater and knit the Quick Sand cardigan by Heidi Kirrmaier. Loved the pattern but the yarn just did not work for this so I frogged the cardigan. In the end I knit two Erikka Slipovers by Rosa P. I am glad I did not give up on the yarn because I absolutely love wearing that slipover, and so does my friend who got the second one.
