    Cascade 220 has never let me down! I have knits from 25 years ago that have held up so well! I wear everything I have ever knit from it all the time. I however, love colorwork! And Cascade 220 has sooooo many❤. Your cable is beautiful and inspiring me to cast one on! I have about 4 sweaters worth of 220😂. ( I am old though and have accumulated a few sales! )

      Oh yay!! I’m so glad you love Cascade too. Someone had asked about pilling-have you found that it holds up nicely? I have a feeling it will, but very curious about your experience.

      Oh that’s so good to know! I think it might rank as one of my favorites of all time. I hope the end result is as perfect as the process has been. It has definitely elevated Sari Nordlund as one of my favorite designers.

    Gorgeous cardigan! Bold statement indeed! I’ve always liked Cascade 220-it’s definitely a good workhorse yarn. Berroco ultra alpaca ranks up there for me as well and I’ve made several items that have stood the test of time. I would also suggest watching the Gamash series on tv-it was very good.

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  9 днів тому

      I’m curious about the Berroco ultra alpaca. Does it pill, or is a pretty sturdy yarn?

    • @crochetingknitter4751

      @@AnotherKnittingPodThe sweaters I’ve made have not pilled. I’m using the chunky weight Ultra Alpaca to make a Feliz cardigan right now and it’s looking like it won’t pill. Sometimes the yarn starts pilling as you’re knitting but this one does not. I recommend.

    Hi, Lena, you’re such a fast knitter I can’t even knit that fast cause I work all day and then I come home and I only have a couple hours really I only have about an hour in the evening so I just have to be patient with myself but yes, that cardigan is beautiful and I can’t believe you got both socks done. I’m still working on, my pair and they’re short socks. I’m not even close.

      Hi Linda! At this moment in my life I am definitely enjoying a lot of knitting time! Knitting definitely teaches us to be patient in the unfolding, stitch by stitch. That is what I love about it!

    ❣Your cardigan progress!👏👏👏 There was a book a long time ago that I also loathed so much and still yet kept reading it thinking it would turn around or have something big happen but NEVER did, at this point fortunately (maybe out of frustration haha), I can't recall the title. I think the only thing that I've liked that Miranda July did/was in is Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005). I recently started to read and then listened to (on UA-cam) was The House On The Strand by Daphne du Maurier, it was really interesting.

    Your book club cardigan is just stunning and can't wait to try that yarn with maybe a slightly less complicated knit for my first cable pattern. So glad you liked Midnight Library - I have not read any of his other books but just loved that one. Another one I just read that seems like everyone has read is Housemaid. Can't quite decide whether I liked it or not - one of those mysteries but with some disturbing elements but a quick read.

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  9 днів тому

      Hi Stephanie! Sari Nordlund has many smaller cabled projects. I started with the Moonflower Collar, and it was a fun and less intimidating project. (Not that useful, but was a fun make!)
      I did love Midnight Library, I do not like this one nearly as much.
      I’ve heard a lot about Housemaid as well, but its not one I’ve ready yet! Keep me updated if you like it!

    Your linen quill video was far from annoying! It was so inspiring, it inspired me to want to make that project, but also to order the kit and just spend an afternoon playing with color.
    Your review of that book makes me never want to read it. I can’t deal with unlike able protagonists, and the older I get I become annoyed at graphic books where there is not a reason for the graphic nature. I’m becoming an old lady 😂 with tinsel hair as well! I need to go to the hair dresser, but hate “wasting” time sitting there so I keep postponing it😂
    The gamache series is on my TBR list ❤

    I love your sweater and you made me like that pattern where as up until this point I’ve been like “sari is so over rated and I don’t love that cardi!”
    But oversized, I think I will love it! And if I make it I will probably do a regular sleeve without cables - idk that’s tbd. But I always enjoy your reviews and your thoroughness and honesty! I definitely want to try out the cascade yarn! So if I do make that pattern I will use that yarn 😊
    I’m pretty booked with knitting plans for the fall but maybe this winter.
    Do you know of any yarn festivals in Colorado? I always hear about rhinebeck and the one in Seattle and a couple in Canada. Surely there’s something in Colorado? The cold and snowy state has to host one - surely?
    I live in Arkansas and trying to find something drivable for future plans. I think I already asked if you were going to the Unwind Retreat in Kansas City in March and you told me no.
    Ok thanks and keep on sharing the great inspo!😊❤

    Your bookclub cardigan is gorgeous!!! Cabling almost seems like cheating to me, because it's just re arranging stitches but it's so beautiful!
    Also, have you tried the Icelandic bind off? It's stretchy without adding a lot of bulk. I just discovered it, and it might ne my new standard

    Hello from British Columbia! In my knitting journey so far, I've made one cabled scarf but many sweaters. Your cardigan looks amazing! I'm so intrigued by it. I'm curious if you think jumping from just a cabled scarf to this entire cardigan would be too much of a bump up in skill level?

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  4 дні тому

      Hello there! I don’t think its a matter of skill level at all. It’s more if you love cabling enough to invest all the time it will take to make a fully cabled (sleeves included!!) piece. You have all the skills you will need, but you have to love cabling to not get bored. I absolutely love it, so it keeps me very entertained. There are other techniques (like colorwork) that I’m not that into, so I wouldn’t endeavor to make a huge piece in that. Anyways, I hope that is a helpful framing! But I’m 100% sure you will have no problem doing it if you want to!

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  9 днів тому

      I don’t know if the Cascade pills, but I can’t imagine that it will. Usually its superwash and very soft yarns that pill, and this is neither. It’s not rough in anyway, but it has a very nice wooly feel. I will keep you updated if I start seeing wear and tear.

    I just wanted to commiserate with you regarding your reading of a book that drained your happiness instead of the usual adding happiness through reading. I had the same experience with movies. I watched a movie that started out badly and not only was deplete of any feel-good moments, but the depressing parts increased in intensity. Why would you make a movie this horrible? Leaving Las Vegas is the title of said movie. I wish I could erase it from my brain. That's a terrible example of a usually wonderful art form.

      I have never seen Leaving Las Vegas, but I remember when it came out years ago! I know what you mean about just being completely horrified and wanting to erase something from your brain. That is definitely how I felt about this book. I would have thrown it across the room if it were a physical copy!

    I am so thrilled to hear someone talk about aging like you do. I am in my mid thirties but LOVING it. I feel like I have always been an old soul and finally where I should have always been. But … when you look at the state of the planet worldwide … and people leading… you can say that we don’t always age the same. Some people at 55 are still living their lives like they are 20 and hate every year that passes. That’s probably why you didn’t like the book and why so many others did (and power to them). I think though that you read enough books to be able to give your honest opinion on what you read and you are able to tell the difference between a good book and a bad one so please always share your opinions because I’m always interested!
    Love your cardigan !

    Oh my gosh! When I heard you wanted to read Miranda July, I wanted to warn you but didn't want to influence your judgment. I read her collection of short stories after years of having it in my collection and as soon as I finished it, I threw it in the trash because I didn't want to put it on anyone else. I kept wanting it to get better, hoping I was misunderstanding, but all the characters were so "gross" and miserable and it did not get better. So glad I'm not the only one but sorry you wasted your time.
