Just stumbled on your videos and I’m planning a huge pumpkin patch this year!! I’m going to just let it take over! 10 different pumpkin varieties! Loved your step by steps and how you went over all the vines and where they trailed to. Love it
Awesome!! I'm planning to grow pumpkin, even really large ones and other cool stuff this year. I'm hoping to get started back making videos. I'll sub you incase you do as well. God bless and may you have a beautiful blessed season! 🌿🌻🌹🌱🎃🌱❣️😊👍
Thanks for assuring me that pumpkins CAN grow on grass! From the squirrel I rescued last fall, I have about 100 pumpkins already coming out of the grass.
Ok...I swear this is my 100th time playing this entire playlist and day 20sh in a row....I hope youtube is pushing your videos algorithms becuz your growing pumpkins series is very informative, Easley to listen to and engage with...thank you for the playlist.. I'm In Nor.Cal zone 9. I started listening to your videos at the end of June, and by July 12th I decided to plant pumpkins...while I'm planting, from the course of my pumpkin in tub is now turning into a pumpkin hill on my backyard dirt/rock sloap (aye nako hehehe), to setting up irrigation (got my husband involved), to now getting the rest of the dirt ground clean, swept, lift, amended and treat read for the vine to take off...AND THIS WHOLE TIME IM LISTENING TO YOU...it's like having a friend study for the S.A.T's .. 😀😇😁💚🌱 🎃
I wish you still made videos! 😭 I am growing pumpkins for the first time and I have watched so many of your videos and they have helped me so much and you are so calming to listen to. Please return to youtube! Lol
Love the videos, you are very thorough with your explanations and then very good at showing what you are doing. I am new to pumpkins this year. I am growing 4 Jack-O-Lantern plants. I do have a question about tertiary vines. I’ve seen a lot of videos on the subject but most everyone blocks the camera when they are trying to show you what they are and look like so they can be trimmed. Can you post something to help me out?
Sorry for the late response. Check out my latest video I just posted today (ua-cam.com/video/7I3iUpFdHc4/v-deo.htmlsi=6iWR-kbOvK7p8-PF) and you'll see a couple snippets of my 2017 results. Stay tuned, I plan to make a video in the coming weeks talking more about my past results.
Thank you for sharing! Hadn’t grown successful pumpkins in 6 years! I had a good yield this year and now want to grow bigger pumpkins. Will follow your advice next year perhaps. Just want to see where the vines go
hi Kevin i have a question, i made planted pumpkin seeds back in May or June and its now November and my pumpkin is in the stage now where it is trying to grow pumpkins cause it has a female flower and a small bulb at the bottom where it forms a pumpkin but every time it tries it either dries up or it gets these burnt spots on them before the flower can open or get big . Is there anything Im doing wrong to grow my pumpkin ?
You seriously are going to help me a lot this year with our pumpkins thank you. My kids want them so bad and are looking forward to them. Last year our vines were great just no pumpkins, they flowered like crazy but no pumpkins. Did it years before and the pumpkins grew like crazy, but that was the pie pumpkins. Last year and this year are the Jack-O-Lantern kind. You helped me to learn a lot for this year in this video. I have no doubt if i follow what you did, if i follow your advice we will get very nice pumpkins. I thank you and my kids thank you.
One thing he didn't mention. That may help you is hand pollinating your female flowers! I have 8 large ghost pumpkins on two vines that are doing great
Holy jeebus. I have never planted before, but live on 4 acres. So yesterday I made the m pi funds and planted seeds just like your previous video. Holy crap 😂 it's going to spread ok ut like that? For some reason I pictured them just staying on mound. 😂 but again, I know nothing. That's hilarious. Well hopefully mine will look like yours!! They have a ton of space to grow. Thank u so much for ur awesome videos!
I love your videos, there very informative. My favorite holiday is Halloween and I absolutely love planting pumpkins and watching them grow thru their stages of life. I never use any fertilizer nor mulch and my vines are absolutely gorgeous and long but I never get no more than 3-4 pumpkins and there no bigger than a cantoloup. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong or what I can do to grow big healthy pumpkins, thanks🎃
July 2021 and your video/pumpkin playlist is still so inspiring and informative!! My first year growing pumpkins for my babies...hoping to turn my down slop back yard pumpkins patch intoa nightmare before Christmas scene theme heheheh
What part of the country is your garden in? I'm just getting into the art of growing pumpkins and find all these videos really helpful. Have you tried magnesium sulphate to improve vigour?
I planted some seeds in my yard. I have never grown pumpkins. I am worried abut how much space they will take up in the yard. There were about 8 seeds. I think I am in trouble lol,
My little sister Said that her tomato is gonna take over our yard, while my pumpkin was not. But then I showed her this video to proof that is was all the way around😂😂😂
I assume the smaller pumpkins fall off because the main pumpkin is pulling all the nutrients into itself. The smaller fruits probably can't compete if the nutrients are bypassing them. Blossom end rot also occurs in tomatoes when you don't water often because the nutrients can't get to the tomatoes. It would be cool though if the vine itself were pruning those smaller pumpkins off to focus on the bigger pumpkin.
Sorry for the late response, was away on vacation. Depending on the type of blight, I've had success controlling blight with weekly treatments of copper fungicide mixed with neem oil. It's not an easy battle once you have it. Also be sure to remove all dead leaves if you plan to try growing pumpkins in the same area again next year (which I advise against), since it will settle in the soil and can easily re-emerge on your plants in the next year or two. This will be the last year I can grow pumpkins in my backyard for 2-3 years since the blight has been exceptionally bad this year, and I've now had it 2 years in a row. Good luck with yours, let me know if you find anything else that works well.
So I actually accidentally I’m growing a pumpkin. I thought it was planning a cantaloupe and then something started growing and I said “no that’s not a Cantaloupe that’s a watermelon”. Then it was pointed out to me that it was actually a pumpkin. It’s beautiful and it’s large, But it’s green. is it supposed to be green?
Some of my favorite past pumpkin growing experiences have been from accidental plantings. Yes, pumpkins start out green and won't actually start turning the traditional colors until later in the season.
Two and a half years later.................everyone says to keep the weeds and grass away from the plants, yet you grow them on your yard and the grass is tall. Doesn't that affect your pumpkins?
For people who wanted to know how big they gotten. Like he said there was more pumpkins on one vine. They might of gotten little bit bigger then what was shown. To get them 300lb or more keep one on one vine. Then baby the crap out of it.
You don't need so many pumpkins for your family. I am growing 3 pumpkin plants this year. But I only need 1 for myself. The other 2 are insurance policies. LOL It is much more efficient to grow potatoes and sunchokes even with a smaller yard. The only reason I grow pumkin is because I can freeze it and I can use its seeds for microgreens during the winter.
Lol, you're right. My goal that year was to have enough pumpkins to allow my nephews and nieces come over to pick their own pumpkins. For eating purposes, you're right, one vine is more than enough.
I apologize for the late response. It's probably too late, but yes, pumpkins do need direct sunlight. While you can grow pumpkins in shade or part shade, you're likely to have smaller and/or less pumpkins. Diseases such as powdery mildew also become a challenge when growing pumpkin vines in the shade.
I think the pumpkins need shade so they will develop property. I think it's because in nature, pumpkins would be growing in a field surrounded by tall grasses and wild plants by the time late summer and fall came.
Man, HOW HOW HOW HOW HOW did you grow those big pumpkins.? You should have put "THE STORY OF A BIG PUMPKIN" instead of using the word "HOW to grow pumpkins" Peace.
This video fails to list the actual tips, which leaves the viewer wondering why am I watching and what in the hell are the three tips. Fail. Get it together man.

Hope he is ok. Videos are so helpful and motivational. I too wish he comes back to UA-cam someday.
I stumbled upon this trying to identify if I had pumpkins growing in my yard. 10:42AM 6/18/22
How did it go, did you find pumpkins?
How do you tell the difference between female and male flowers?
Lovely
I planted some seeds in my yard. I have never grown pumpkins. I am worried abut how much space they will take up in the yard. There were about 8 seeds. I think I am in trouble lol,
Hahahaaaa... first time for me too.. I am definitely getting worried 😦
No vine borers would sure help me...gonna try those seminole ones i hear are.resistant ...not IMMUNE but at keast it will give me a shot.
Should I cut the secondary vine from the main vine?
Followed you man God Bless 0:21 !
My little sister Said that her tomato is gonna take over our yard, while my pumpkin was not. But then I showed her this video to proof that is was all the way around😂😂😂
I know but it was funny how she said that her tomato was gonna take over our yard and not my pumpkin.
I was so excited to see the end result but looks like there isn't a video showing it. So sad!! Love the vids though.
Nice and healthy
I assume the smaller pumpkins fall off because the main pumpkin is pulling all the nutrients into itself. The smaller fruits probably can't compete if the nutrients are bypassing them. What happened to them!? How did they finish!?
SUPER
How do keep away squirrels 🐿?
should the male flowers be pinched off since they draw energy and you dont need to polinate any female flowers since you pinch those off?
Thanks for the information
Why the tied up piece of cloth?
It keeps direct sunlight from hardening the pumpkin skin so it can grow larger
How to get seeds of pumkins
Did you prune your pumpkin vines ?
Nice
At can I do with blight on my pumpkin leaves?

For people who wanted to know how big they gotten. Like he said there was more pumpkins on one vine.
They might of gotten little bit bigger then what was shown.
To get them 300lb or more keep one on one vine. Then baby the crap out of it.
You didn’t say anything about the towels on top of fruit
I was wondering the same thing!
Maybe to shade them so they don't get sunburn?
You don't need so many pumpkins for your family. I am growing 3 pumpkin plants this year. But I only need 1 for myself. The other 2 are insurance policies.
