Thank you for actually telling us how to grow a pumpkin instead of most pumpkin grow vids where they are simply bragging instead of informing!

This was so helpful, I've been planting these incorrectly. I didn't know they'd send tap roots down the vine. This will help me with the howden variety I have going this year.

We don't need a heat map hare in Fresno California, 115 degrees was the hottest day of our year.

I was always taught to lay pumpkin and cucumber seeds flat

In nature animal eats plant. Plant contains seed. Animal poops somewhere. A plant has been planted. Flat, vertical, diagonal, it ultimately shouldn't much matter. If the seed is viable it will germinate and take off.

@@zach3305 I put the pointed end upwards and now I have huge pumpkins. It doesn’t really matter. The seed knows which way to send the roots and which way to send the leaves.

@@DaNortWoods Im sure it worked for you. It is just a trick to increase germination rate, especially if you happen to be dealing with more finicky greenhouse hybrids.

Right after you last frost date. Look up which zone you’re in and go from there.

Burying vines 6” deep is way too deep. That could cause vine rot. You only need to cover the leaf nodes with soil to get them to root into the ground.
