The first ten games were really really fun.
It’s amazing that all the other teams obviously adjust to what the Pirates are trying to do both with hitting and pitching but the Pirates do not adjust their approach at all

Send a message to the team and have the new guys jump start the offense. Triolo can also play first when Joe doesn’t. I really hope that they at least make one or two of the moves.
Sounds good. Unfortunately they'll wait until the All Star break to do something "so drastic". Hope I'm wrong.

Here's an interesting question. Instead of looking at the Gm,the batting coach,the manager etc...Could the problem possibly be......WE DONT HAVE MAJOR LEAGUE LEVEL HITTERS IN OUR

Oh really? Runs are important? I've never bought into any of the pirates' propaganda. It started by saying how much better and smarter BC and his management team were than his predecessors. Most still believe this. At least Huntington and Co. made the Pirates relevant for 4-5 years. And Hurdle was an excellent manager who inherited a 110 loss team and ended up with an overall winning record.
Cherington is a good GM, I truly believe the Bucs have just never cleared house in their developmental departments .... Since Bonds, they have drafted and developed, what, 1 above average hitter . Yes they traded for Giles, Bay, Reynolds ..... Walker and Pedro Alvarez were solid but average .... So outside of Cutch (who Dave Littlefield drafted fyi) who else in the last 30 years .....
@jaash5 Chumpington is trash. 1 winning season in his entire career as a GM and it was with a team he inherited from Theo Epstein and under an owner who, at the time, seemed like he actually cares about winning. He no longer has that for his security blanket if you will and as such he's become exposed as the hack he is.
He keeps this coaching staff in place despite them being garbage. He doesn't get this team any help when they desperately need it. And all of his trades and signings have been busts
I'm from the past and know what good baseball looks like IN PITTSBURGH. This hasn't been it. What they've been selling for the last 32 years is, we are rebuilding. It was accurate for 3 years in the last 32 years, almost 10%. Andy Haines is an embarrassment, but is just one of many.

So, is this still not the same team that lost back to back 100 game seasons, and failed to break .500 last season? At the rate this is going this will be the 3rd 100 loss season in 4 years. I want to believe in this team again, but have far too much evidence to point otherwise.

I'm a die-hard pirates fan I have pictures of me sitting in the club level is as a baby at Three Rivers stadium sitting on a ledge over the glass this is become a joke it makes me sick to my stomach to watch one of the most proud franchises in baseball be treated like a pony show
Thank you. I have been a Pirates fan since'68. As a 6 year old, I loved everything about this franchise. Now the past 30 + years have completely disgusted me. The good days of the Lumber co. seem like a hundred years ago.

They should’ve traded Reynolds he’s already 29 and isn’t at all a consistent hitter goes on insane cold streaks multiple times every year

This is what happens, when a guy like Nunnally does a great job, but the organization doesn't want him butting into their mantra. He should have been given more of a role in helping hitters, but instead got shown the door. Bet that conversation went well.

I truly hope the Bucs don't benefit from a few fluke hits that help them take the series against the Rockies. For beneficial organizational change, we need to be soundly beat this weekend. C'mon Bucs... keep it up!! Don't change a thing for a few more series!
Early on, when they were winning, even our broadcast team read from the script about how the Bucs were running up the opposition pitch count. We were even quoted how they were #1 #2 (pick a number) in the majors for waiting out the pitches at bat. To me that indicates this WAS the strategy despite the current denials.
Didn't take long for the opposing pitchers and umps to figure out these guys are just up there taking pitches.
"Analytics Ben" needs to move on if we're ever going to be competitive.

Hmm what a novel idea. Not like it's been done before. Sure do some due diligence. Who cares if they hard they hit the ball. Who cares if they hit the ball in play.
How about base hits use your heavy hitters in a proper spot in the lineup. Others have them play small ball move the runners around steal bases. To let your big boppers drive in runs. What a novel idea. How about playing good defense. The few times I watched this team this year. Outfielders collided into each other.
How about letting starting pitching go more than 5 innings. Giving the bullpen a break. Nah. Analytical data says screw that and do what we say. It's not worked four four years and it's not working this year..
Hopefully, this is wishful thinking, that this philosophy of ‘not getting the clutch’ play will end soon, giving way to a better philosophy. Maybe even leading to a wining record overall.

Travis Williams won't do anything. The FO will try and ride a few Paul Skenes starts into relevancy, except when they can't even win those games , due to lack of runs. I wish I could wake up, and this was all a bad dream.
DK, as a player wouldn’t you at some point want to take matters into your own hands like Key did and seek outside help and advice on hitting ? Or at least decide as a player that I am going to go to the plate and be aggressive and swing despite whatever twisted pitch count strategy Haynes may be trying to sell?
I expect that Nutting will take action on this non hitting hitting approach if for no other reason than its cutting into his profits.

You're giving Shelton way too much credit. He's not that smart. Guy cost us 4 games in one week a few weeks back. He's not a good manager at all. Analytics are used in baseball for teams that lack talent. Baseball is a simple game. You hit, you score! You pitch good,play good defense. Throw all this Analytics crap out the door. It's not fooling anyone. As herm Edward's once said "you play to win the game"! In the end that's all that really matters. Seems like winning isn't a priority for the pirates. Even cherington downplayed their quick start last season. Meaning putting less accountability on himself. This whole regime needs to go! Especially if they can't turn this thing around this year. What is the plan? There is no plan! How can u have a lineup with all top prospects and none of them can hit? Hayes went outside the organization to get help? These guys need to go! Cherington,haines and Shelton. They are feeding us nothing but bullshit! The results speak for themselves. I know it's hard to win consistently in any sport. But can the pirates at least be competitive sometimes? Not every 20 years or so?????
Shelton is a single A manager at best. In fact im not sure he could manage a sheetz. Quit trying to pass this guy off as a major league manager. Hes just a cheap hire by nutting
