No argument from me. I've seen through the be Cherington philosophy and ineptitude, the Shelton cluelessness, and the organization dysfunction for several years. The Pirate propaganda was that Cherington\Shelton were so superior to Huntington\Hurdle. But at least Huntington built a 98 win team and Hurdle had a winning record with the pirates.

I fully expect a request in the off season for a trade. And I don't blame him.

Why was this decision made 3/4 of the way through a lost season? Why embarrass this guy? Why not wait till the off-season? I don't care how many errors he's made, he shouldn't have to be answering these questions.

Hank Aaron started out his baseball career as a shortstop before moving to the outfield. I think that worked out pretty well for him. If Cruz pouts and moans by the position change, then the Pirates should trade his ass this off season. Cruz is simply not a shortstop. Also, I do not think that Cruz will ever sign an extension with this club over being moved to the outfield. He is as good as gone once he becomes a free agent.

Disturbing how Brady Feigl gets DFA'd today, but Ben Heller who got lit up MUCH worse in two appearances, before getting sent back to Indy,gets a 2nd chance. Heller should be in the Independant league, after his first two miserable appearances! Heller must have somethng on Shel-done!

So what changed in 8 days or is Cherington just a habitual liar? To do this at this time of the season when Cruz has never played the position and has hardly played any outfield position is insane! You are asking for injury to him or another player in a collision. It is hard to believe this is the same organization I started following in 1965. Such an embarrassment. PLEASE Nutting wake up and sell the team! Why do you want to be the most hated person in Pittsburgh? Be a hero instead and sell, you will be applauded.

I see both sides of it. I get why Cruz is upset at being moved, but at the same time if you want to stay at a position, dont be dead last in fielding percentage at that position. Timing sucks though.

Henry Davis played outfield too and played amazinggg out there! Made amazing catches and he took that confidence to the plate. N’nat..

I hope he turns out to be good in the outfield. At least this way he will be filling another position the Pirates need help at big time. IKF can handle shortstop. I wish they would of made this move sooner. I just hope Cruz does not turn out to be a big bust after the big contract he got.

The way Cruz runs around on the field on any flyball that goes his way, don't he surprised if he smashes Reynolds in an outfield collision similar to when his van smashed the moped.

DK, im curious on your thoughts on position players pitching. IMO seeing a non-pitcher take the mound in the MLB should be very very rare. I don't believe paying fans at the highest level of baseball should be watching someone lob up 60mph fast balls. As big as the rosters are, I would think the Pirates could muster up another arm from the bull pen. I could maybe understand if they were in the middle of a playoff series and had to save arms. However, this clown organization isn't that, it's in the midst of another meaningless mid-season game.

I really need to know that Cherington and the coaching staff will all be gone at the end of this season, but I have a terrible feeling though that it won't happen.

FYI, DK...CUBS announcer (Monday night) said that Joe Block told him that Oneil Cruz had told him after one of their first meetings, Cruz told him that, center field was his favorite position....WHAT!!!!...and that's why I listen to the away team's announcers, Pirates announcers are brainwashed as well.... That's Cherington, screwing things up royally. In the off season they could have had someone work with him to cut down in the errors, and give it another season at short. The guy I felt bad for last night was Brady Feigl. He closed out the one ining, by getting Bellinger to ground out. I was hoping he coukd stop the bleeding for one more inning. The kid has waited forever to make it to the bigs, and then the Cubs took it out on him too!

I'm not thinking Cruz's poor play at SS started when he reached the majors. The decision to move him to a different position should have been made in the minors. Cruz should man up and admit he's not a very good SS. So to further his and his team's success he will be willing to make the move.
