10th June 1993. I remember the weather had been really good. I was in Blackpool that Day & the local Radio station announced Les had died. The heavens absolutely opened with a massive Thunderstorm. It was like the Fylde coast was crying. Les was an absolute legend.

Aww my favourite comedian of all time, I absolutely love les Dawson, everything this man touched turned to gold.
The best presenter ever of Blankety Blank, no one could do it like Les, he did so many things and each and everyone of them was a true testament to his talent.
A true, down to earth man who had no airs and graces just himself, and that was more than enough.
Thank you for showing this and for the respectful way you introduce your audience to a short but very informative, life story.
    Thank you.

He was totally brilliant. It was Roy Barraclough and he who used to do the 'gossipy' housewives Sissy and Ada . I remember my mum almost falling off her chair laughing when Les (in drag) telling Roy (also in drag) about a supposed woman friend of theirs who had to go to hospital for an operation, "They've had to take it all away you know, you know everything ( then mouthed but not spoken) 'down there.' (Then speaking again ) They call it a hysterical rectum!"

How he played the piano all out of tune, yet we all knew what he was playing+sang along…he was just SO brilliant to be able to do that without a hitch!!! The faces he used to pull as well as his Mother in Law jokes!!! I loved watching him on telly (along with mum) every week…I didn’t realise he was so young when he died, so sad!!! “ My wife’s mother is so thin, that when she cries, the tears run down her back…!!! “. How he kept a straight face I’ll never know…one of our National Treasures without a doubt. I have forgotten when I’ve put a comment on here to you before, to say that I hope whoever “ Rests In Peace “ so I’ll say this now to our Les (plus anybody else I may have accidentally forgotten in my other comments…may you all Rest In Peace!!! I'm surprised we see no re-runs of his time hosting Blankety Blank. He was lovely, my grandmother used to howl & scream laughing when he did the double act as dressed up housewives, quietly mouthing sensitive words! So glad you included the piano scenes, as you say it is hard to play the wrong notes and out of tune but recognisable. If most people did that it would just sound like bad playing & not particularly funny, but he chose just a few perfectly selected wrong notes & it was hilarious. Wow! So many people watched the premier, glad see things going so well. There is no one famous buried in Morecambe. Eric Morecambe called the town ‘ a cemetery with lights ‘ and chose to live and die somewhere better. I recently discovered a long forgotten grave of a slave who was a man servant who was eventually ‘ lived as a free man ‘ when the slavery act was repealed. His former owners described him as ‘a much loved and dear friend,’ and the huge slab on a raised plinth that serves as his headstone would have been very expensive at the time and is evidence of the families love for him which I find rather moving and very progressive for the eighteen hundreds. You might find the less fortunate but well known story of Sambo’s (sic) grave at Sunderland point of interest. All best, Paul.

Had he have lived just a few years longer he'd probably have seen his career take off again much like it did with Frankie Howerd and be properly celebrated in his lifetime. Unfortunately he died just before this had a chance to happen. I loved him presenting blankety blank, his sarcasm was perfect for presenting that show.

Considering Charlotte talks so much about her love for her Dad on her social media I am so surprised there are no flowers on his grave. So sad. I remember my Dad watching Les so much when I was a kid.
Surprised also that he’s buried with his first wife even though he married again afterwards. God bless.

Charlotte actually has his ashes at home or at least she did. His ashes were buried in the garden of her Mum's house. I'm guessing this grave is either just a memorial or it has some of his ashes.

His first wife Meg was the only real love of his life.
He was a vunerable, lonely, oldish man who was taken advantage of big time.
Charlotte like many of here ilk nowadays is a talentless, tangerine, tart full of plastic surgery.
Who leeches a living on the back of a famous relatives name.

Hi Paul, I missed this vid of which as always you deliver respectful and very gentle. Les was a scream, the type of laughter that has been deprived from today's viewing. Thank-you for bringing memories.

There was no one like Les for me very very clever with his mickey taking on the piano and I especially Loved his intricate sarcasm with his comedy no one else could do that
