Revenge and Takedown are easily my favourites in the series. They're both cathartic in their own ways and I keep playing them even after over a decade.
Takedown and revenge really are the punk rock of racing games. Pure, white knuckled, stripped down, adrenaline fueled madness and a huge rush of euphoria when you get'in the zone'.such a shame they don't make games like this anymore.
I don't understand why there's not more games like this. It's literally a dopamine jackpot formula, if people love action in racing games why not encourage vehicular destruction? Going fast is starting to get boring for me. Are they scared of the vehicular terrorism implications?
@@mangopie7602arcade racing games just aren't made anymore, there's need for speed and mario kart clones, but apart from that? ridge racer is dead, split second and blur never got sequels, tokyo xtreme racer ended... if you aren't in an arcade, all you've got is simulation racers/simcades
Burnout Paradise has a lot of missing features compared to 3 & Revenge, including crash aftertouch, crashbreaker, bronze/silver/gold medals, crash mode, etc And I still can't decide whether traffic checking was a good thing or not
Worst thing about Revenge is no Single event mode, world tour can get repetitive after you beat them. I'm not against traffic checking, but I prefer Takedowns balanced mix of mechanics and vehicle balance. I think crash mode is done better in Takedown, honestly.
Fun side note : Burnout Dominator is also on PSP. Granted it's not as good as 3 or Revenge when comparing to main consoles, but it's more than good enough for the PSP !
Wrong the PS2 was the lead version of Burnout Dominator then ported to PSP like Burnout Legends on PSP, you could clearly see the cutscenes of the gameplay on the PSP are from the PS2 version and while the PSP version has an exclusive content just SVR 2006
I would put revenge at 2nd and Takedown at 1. Takedown just felt so good and extremely nostalgic, especially road rage, it was the greatest thing ever made
I see what ur getting at but I have to agree with the video, pretty much takes 3 and puts it on Crack 😂 I think the reason why it has been ranked higher than takedown is because of the improved traffic mechanics. 3 and Revenge are still tied though for me, impossible to rank one over the other
Burnout 3 might be my favourite game of all time. I literally cannot think of a single thing I don't like about that game. I just love the progression and the world tour feeling of the game. The thing I don't like about paradise is the map/open world. The tracks in burnout 3 just had so much variety that paradise lacks.
Paradise is my only Burnout game, but I love the open world of the game a ton. It’s so much fun learning it and its shortcuts, as well as just driving outside of races. In general I tend to prefer open world racers, but event based ones also clearly have their merits, such as, as you mentioned, variety.
I think the only thing I didn’t like about was the so called ‘rubber banding’ where when crashing your opponent they just catch up really quickly. It’s annoying at times but in terms of how much content there and how good the content it is, burnout 3 holds up extremely well, the controls, the variety, the soundtrack, the presentation were all honestly more than amazing, one of my favourite games of all time.
Man, I'm ripping through Revenge right now and I don't think I've had the volume on my tv turned up this high for a game in close to a decade.... the combination of gameplay and music gets me hyped up and the adrenaline going and it keeps it going. Something is really missing in todays games.
i've never really liked the open world aspect of Paradise to be honest. don't get me wrong, i think it's a great game, but i think the creative diverse environments suit this series better than a single open world location
Agreed. I like Paradise because it has the bright environmental aesthetics of Takedown (best in the series IMO) but unlike Takedown, the roads aren't as purpose-built for intense drifting and takedowns etc - too many races end up having the cars go separate ways to a goal which just rips the fun out of the whole takedown element of the game.
@@madebyjordan yup, and just being in the same environment doing the same couple of routes to the finish over again begins to feel very samey very quickly. going around the world in 3 and Revenge breaks up the same looking and feeling environment, and like you said, the routes feel purpose built for action in those games, while as Paradise just honestly doesn’t have that same feeling
@@TheRageLivesOn exactly. I still enjoy a rip around Burnout Paradise (for lack of a Burnout 3 on a modern console) but it can just feel pretty aimless at times - especially stopping to correct a missed junction. That kind of stuff is just so un-Burnouty - the whole momentum just grinds to a halt. It actually feels like that soul-destroying moment in other racing games where you have to reverse out of a barrier, i.e nobody enjoys it and it takes you completely out of the flow.
OG Burnout does feel that was made in a very different direction from the future games (racing with a very high risk factor arcade-style, rather than becoming the danger with high speed tricks and totaling other cars) because of how it was clearly inspired off the arcade game Thrill Drive, which focused in racing...and the horrifying aftermath of you and your car whenever you ended up crashing. There's a passing resemblance with how the crashes are presented and even the HUD markers on top of racing for survival rather than racing to destroy.
It was inspired by an arcade game named thrill drive made by Konami. It was literally all about dodging traffic and it was a horror racing game because once you crash, a scream happens and then music changes
I really never cared about crash mode so it's absence from Burnout Dominator was kind of a good thing for me since I always skip it during the main carrer mode. That being said I still think that Dominator is very underrated. Traffic checking is great, but makes the game too easy for me. The Burnout mechanic which makes you keep your boost indefintely is a much more interesting mechanic for me since this series is all about that risk vs reward factor and the Burnout challenges where always the most satisfying to complete since they were so hard. You also have to take in account that the game had a lot of cut content, and it still turned out great. The devs were really on a tight schedulle, and still delivered, all while developing for two platforms simultaneously and it was their first Burnout game. I also would never rank a Burnout game without the takedown mechanic above one that has it (well, maybe the DS game would be the only exception, since it was pretty bad). It's liretally what makes or breaks the game for me, and that's what makes it so difficult for me to enjoy the first 2 games, even though I can recognize how they walked so that the following games could run.
I too did rarely care about crash mode and i also think that traffic checking made "Revenge" too easy And Burnout 1 was released on 3 consoles I also heard that the difficulty depents on wich console version you play
Paradise is my favorite I think the open world is the perfect marriage for the franchise, go around the city with no limits taking any path destroying anyone
How is an open world a perfect marriage for a franchise all about being up close and personal with your foes? All the usual races I won by taking a completely different route than them. Not to mention all races look and feel the same since opponent cars auto scale to yours. It feels so stupid that when I switch to a truck, everyone else does too, which ruins the purpose. And who thought that adding *bikes* to a game all about crashes was a good idea?
Burnout 2 is my all time favorite video game. I remember being so disappointed by the original Burnout and expecting the sequel to be no different, but it absolutely blew me away by being better in literally every way.
Paradise to me is a love/hate relationship, on one hand it's a good game, but on the other hand it's not. If you take a look at the dev cycle of paradise you'll see that it was botched and mishandled, but on the other hand it's fun to mess around with friends online. There's one gripe I have with the game and it's the fact that they made it a skate wannabe even though it's a game about crashing, races, takedowns etc.
Idk, I played the skate series, I don't remember drifting around corners at 120 mph. 😂 Nah, I get it. It does have a 2008 feel for a game that wasn't released in 2008, I like the style the games offer personally, but its always cool to get another person's perspective on this stuff.
1. Revenge: My first Burnout game (OG Xbox) Only one where I can say I caused millions in damages with a Carl's Jr. Food Truck. Feels like an acid trip version of a Racing Movie. 2. Paradise (+Remastered) Still play it time to time. Brings cars from every installment. The pinnacle of Crashing simulations in the Burnout Series. The Racing aspect was on par with the best of the franchise. Was so iconic it pretty much was used as the template for the 2011 NFS: Most Wanted reboot. 3. Takedown: The start of the rise to gaming icon status. Felt like a truly competitive and aggressive racing game and sold the idea perfectly. 4: Legends: For its time, it was honestly the best way to kill time when you're out and about. 5: Dominator: Had it for the PS2. Brought it to a Video Game Day in 5th Grade. Taught them how to play, and left about 3 dozen kids scrambling for copies of Takedown and Revenge. 6: 2 (Point of Impact): A small but substantial improvement and the beginning of finding the secret Burnout Formula. 7: 1: The beginning of it all. Very dated and flat in comparison to its offspring, but its unfair when you throw it on a list against the future generations that became gaming GOATs 8: Crash: Brought me actual physical pain to see how watered down and PG this looks in comparison to Takedown and Revenge like my god PLEASE take Burnout's namesake off this travesty. I would take a remastered Switch port of Dominator over this. How GameInformer gave it a 7.5 out of 10 absolutely bewilders me. Especially after their review stated AND I QUOTE from their September 2011 review: "All the while, Crash teeters back and forth between exciting and obnoxious." Enough said.
The crash mode in Revenge is so good, that even my Girlfriend at the time, would sit and play it with me. 'come on then it's my turn' lol. We'd battle for most money damage caused. She was also scarily good at Crazy Taxi 2 on Dreamcast. I would have to sit for about 1h 30mins for her to finish. She'd score in the tens of millions lol. I actually never did beat her score at that. Sonic Adventure 2 on Dreamcast was another bonding game. The Chao garden and the races etc. Good times. :( The best track in the series is Big Surf Shores for me. (Burnout 2) The music and everything is just perfect on that track. Brings back so many memories.
Revenge has a lot of emotional value to me, used to my go to game as a kid. Something hooked me about causing chaos in fast cars, and the sense of a battle between other cars was just incredible. Deserves a remaster in my opinion.
1. Burnout 3 2. Burnout Revenge 3. Burnout Paradise 4. Burnout 2 5. Burnout Dominator 6. Burnout Legends 7. Burnout The reason I put 3 above Revenge is simple. Traffic checks. While I was a fan of that idea at first too and thought it was funny, it gets boring very quickly and takes away a lot of the risk reward system perfected in Burnout 3. Paradise then made traffic check more appropriate with the game's design, in order not to take away too much from the risk-reward experience that made B3 spectacular. As for Paradise being in third place, the lack of a proper Crash mode like in the last 2 games + no Aftertouch, feels like some of the content has been stripped away. Though, new features and gameplay aspects have been implented so it's a win-lose situation. Some people also crap on the open world design but I actually enjoy it as much as the linear design. Anyway, you can't go wrong with any of the top 3, they're all excellent and dare I say, the best the arcade racer genre has to offer. They should be purchasable as a trilogy on modern platforms with 120fps support.
Personally would put dominator above 2, because I think that dominator just felt much better and more of an adrenaline rush and kindof felt like a demo version of burnout 3
Burnout Revenge is arguably one of my favorite racing games of all time next to Need for Speed Underground, its so damn addicting. Ive tried Paradise and it didn't hook me as much as revenge but after hearing ur thoughts on it im definitely gonna get it another shot.
Paradise's greatest strength is the multiplayer experience, though barely anyone plays it now and the ones that do know the map by heart so it's hard to compete in races. In Single-player, the game heavily focuses on casually around driving around and memorizing the map. There is no fast travel, the map is littered with collectibles, events are unlocked by finding their starting line and they all end at the same handful of locations, so the game really expects you to just cruise and explore a lot of the time. It was novel at the time and the map is great, but open-world racing games have become the norm and it lacks the crazy high octane thrills of Burnout 3 and Revenge, so it hasn't aged as well as those. Unless you manage to race online that is...
Remember that I completed every challenge in burnout 3 takedown but the last challenge, which was like push someone to tram and it was really difficult.
Why are all the best games on consoles before 2012 i swear For example, littlebigplanet. That is another legendary franchise that kinda just went underground. Another example, Jet Set Radio Or literally any sega franchise except sonic. Burnout is a prime example of something that was great, but was forgotten, and nowadays they wouldnt be able to add anything to burnout 3, because apparently having more pixels is more important. *graphics do not matter*
indeed it's far from being a bad game. Stupendous slick control. I recall it was huge too at the time hence why it went on as a series so the idea the first game is somehow subpar is nonsense
for whatever reason i remember dominator to be the hardest, i only played it for a couple weeks and i raged more on this one than the entire other burnouts i played combined
My dad and I used to play Revenge when I was lil..when I got older I got dominator..I love the way they do the games..especially the soundtracks and modes..gonna get Revenge again
I got Dominator and 3 at the same time and 100%-ed Dominator before ever touching 3. It was fun that way, though I understand why it's not remembered too fondly. It is good in a vacuum, but quite lacking in comparison to others in the series. It is notable for having Avril Lavignes Girlfriend in like 10 languages.
Yeah Revenge I played alot of it and loved it mainly for one thing : Crashbreakers, when you literally explode everything. But just imagine if the lastest burnout was exactly like Revenge (keeping the exact same mecanics) but even more frantic like using weapons or the environment to destroy opponants, it could've been a great sequel ! Haaaaaa... Dreams....
I think many are goanna say revenge and take down are the best. I did actually start at Burnout 1 and I agree to what's stated. What was amazing was the announcer and his energetic voice from Checkpoint! Or Time Out
My worst to best list: Burnout Burnout Dominator Burnout 2: Point of Impact Burnout Paradise Burnout 3: Takedown Burnout Revenge A lot of people will put Paradise first, but I've always preferred Takedown and Revenge. I'm not including Burnout Legends and Burnout Crash, since I haven't played them.
Best Burnout game is Takedown, hands down. That game has enough content and ways to play to keep anyone totally hooked for hours on end, it had the best gameplay and crashes. Revenge was good, but it didn't hold a candle to it's predecessor in terms of content. If I wanted to take a break from combative racing then I would just fire up Burnout 2 and enjoy it for a long time, best non-combat installment ever. I also think that Dominator is really underrated, there's no such thing as a bad burnout game, at least not to me.
burnout point of impact was my introduction to burnout. the "green car" is to this day one of my favourite looking cars and is a MASSIVE reason why I love tuner cars in the real world. that and also watching fast and the furious around the same era. burnout takedown was my most played (being that my point of impact disc was scratched and I could never play it) and my most played would have to be paradise simply because the amount of things you can do in that game. I genuinely grew up from age 6-15 playing burnout and I will forever know it as my absolute favourite game of all time
i have played revenge but not much of it. I had the burnout legends psp variant as for a very long time i went years without a console (we sold the ps2 and xbox prior and i only had a psp) but point of impact still is the first burnout that comes to mind when the game is mentioned
burnout legends and dominator were portable titles. while I was not aware that burnout legends was also on the nintendo DS. I have good memories of both legends and dominator on the psp. Those games were like the portable version of burnout 3 and revenge. While not very new or up to par as the console burnouts, it was good enough for the psp.
Thing I liked from the first Burnout is survival mode, where the traffic density is high and RNG-spawn, and you only got one chance of driving. You crash, you done. Also I liked how racing BGM changed to gloomy after you crashed for a good amount of times, just like their inspiration, Thrill Drive.
Burnout 2, 3, and Revenge are all goated. Dominator and Paradise are great too. I haven't played Burnout 1 in a long time so I can't speak on that. I've never played Legends or Crash so...yeah, same thing.
The open world of paradise is a double edged sword. If you know the routes, it's fantastic. But it's so big it's hard to remember every route. So if you haven't spent a long time remembering everything, you'll mainly look at the mini map. So you're not looking at the road and you'll most likely crash
I have watched over a dozen reviews on the Burnout games and YOU are the ONLY one who has mentioned BURNOUT REVENGE!! What’s wrong with these other ppl? To me Revenge was clearly the BEST in the series, the crash breaker, the cars and tracks… it’s finally good to hear that someone else loved this game as much as I did. Nearly every video talks about how great Takedown was but never even mentions Revenge (makes me wonder if they ever even played it). It’s one of the few games that I refused to sell over the years and I still have it. Wish they would remake it with an online version. I don’t understand this world sometimes.
I agree with you 100%, Revenge is easily one of my favorite games of all time, the soundtrack, gameplay, graphics and action is amazing. I miss games like these. Would also love to see them add online back or atleast turn on the online servers again
Burnout paradise is my favourite followed by revenge then 3 I agree with paradise having one of the best soundtracks out there. Can't tell you how greatly its affected my playlist... Jane's Addiction, Gunz n Roses bangers
Such a great franchise without a single bad mainline entry, would gladly buy a bundle on PC if ea would quit hoarding their ips in the dungeon. 3 and Revenge deserve a re-release with proper widescreen support and uncapped fps at 4k. The world needs to play these games again to be reminded there’s more to the racing genre than sims that want to grab your wallet for micro transactions and charging ludicrous amounts for only one car. I love licensed cars and tracks but sometimes I just want to wreck my opponents in insane ways that those licenses just don’t let devs do that sort of thing anymore.
From one Jonathan to another, you sir provided great points on all the games in this series. The only two ive ever played were Burnout Dominator (my all time favorite for Psp) and Burnout Legends (i still own it for psp). Ive bought an emulation console and my dopamine levels have been in the red zone playing these game made for the small screen on my large tv with sound system and the feeling is like no other racing. Heart pumping, teeth grinding, and breath held until you come in First Place, only those games give me enjoyment like that and worth recommending to racing game fans.
Keep making videos man!!! Love the Burnout series, hopefully it makes a comeback someday. I'd go with this for my ranking (Haven't played Dominator): 7. Burnout Crash 6. Burnout 5. Burnout Legends 4. Burnout 2 3. Burnout Paradise 2. Burnout Revenge 1. Burnout 3
Takedown was the first Burnout game I played and I loved it but Revenge..... oh baby, that was my game. At one point I had gotten everything but the last star on the last Burning Lap with the Logitech racer. I kept hitting that damn short wall in the final turn. Playing it on Xbox with gas and e brake mapped to the triggers just felt so fluid.
I remember growing up with Revenge, just an infinite amount of fun and even going back and playing it again it still holds up and is almost better than most modern arcade racing games. Also the soundtrack is so amazing, I know every word to every song without even realizing it 😂
When i was a 3 years old kid my parents gifted me a Playstation 2 with the Burnout Revenge on it, so it's basically the first game i've played in my entire life. I really spent so much fun and time in this game than any other game i've played ever. I still have my PS2 and the Burnout Revenge to remember those beautiful times.
I only played Burnout 3 Takedown + Revenge and i think as many other people these two are the best Burnouts we had. Revenge the better one but yes 3 Takedown was the right way to get Burnout to the legendary Revenge. I had 3 PS2s 2 died and my latest is still hanging out somewhere dont know if it still works. I also still have a controller and the old used disk somewhere because as i sold some games i said i will never sell my favorite games like Burnout. Later i got a PS3 but had not much time with it and not that much fun as with the PS2. After the disappointment about the PS3 i moved to PC gaming the best I've done. Best times and i was also young back in the days of 3 Takedown and Revenge. So i share the legendary Burnout times also with a legendary PS2 time for me.
Man I miss Burnout, but luckily I have some alternatives if you love Burnout!: *-Flatout Series:* Before Wreckfest, there was Flatout. If you want a realistic Burnout, Flatout is for you! It's derby on its fun! (Sorry Wreckfest) ...Maybe you'll want to evade the Wii and the 3rd one. 4th is ok, but nothing special. *-Dangerous Driving:* Made by some of the devs who worked for Burnout and NFS:HP 2010, this is a REAL spiritual successor to Burnout 3! *-Danger Zone Series:* But before Dangerous Driving, there was a Crash Mode only game. I heard it's fun. *-Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2012:* It's Burnout in Need For Speed... Yeah, it's a bit blurry for both franchise, but hey, it's made by Criterion Games, and it's good! *-Ridge Racer Unbounded:* Okay, okay, this one is complex to explain: you know Spilt/Second? Split/Second is kinda like Mario Kart but you do tricks like Drift, Draft, etc. and gain powers. You then use your powers to attack your opponents, open shortcut or change routes to catch-up the 1st racer, if the tracks give you the opportunity. It's a hidden gem, and I HIGHLY recommend you! Now, if Split/Second uses red shells, Ridge Racer Unbounded uses the star power. That's where the Burnout-isk feeling comes from. Also made by the Wreckfest devs, and have a nice track editor! That's all I have, and hey, *Totally Tubular Jonathan,* you can use this as a video! (NOTE: I didn't put Wreckfest as that's less Burnout compared to Flatout, but I will put it as a honorable mention)
@@henkdesteen8268i ve played thrill drive so many times on arcade with h shifter and handbrake. Such a blast ! I wish have a console or pc port... What a great memories !
The problem is nowadays these developers take away all the great things that gave its spark just to be able to make a decent online multiplayer aspect of it. Online multiplayer killed a lot of franchises. I am a solo gamer, so it sucks for people like me when they sacrifice what made games popular just to add online content.
Having more ways to play for single player instead of always relying on MP is always important. Takedown for example had insane amounts of replay value when you play by yourself, while revenge is very limited of it.
* Cement* Great video. I would put Parsside ahead of Revenge, but those are my top two. Crash mode in Paradise like you said is called "Showtime", and yes you can activate it anytime. It gives you a better advantage on how many cars you can get in the pile. Plus, you can control your your car or what's left of it while crashing. Since it's online, you can get the highest score on that road and it pops up on your friend's feed that you have the high score. Also,. I think the soundtrack was the weakest in Paradise. Not that many memorable songs as previous games.
Burnout - I have a love/hate relationship with this game. It looks pretty good and controls well, but at the same time, I find it frustratingly hard. You have to get insanely close to the other cars to get a "near miss", which is dangerous because you crash at the drop of a hat. One time I just ran over some debris from someone else's crash and it said I crashed. I've never been able to get first place on anything but the first track and even that's hard for me. Burnout 2 - MUCH better game! Much easier to earn boost, and all the events, with the exception of the last pursuit, seem much more fair. I also actually prefer the crash junctions in this game to the later ones. I love the slow-motion crashes and not having to rely on gimmick bonus items to hit the target amounts. Burnout 3 - Great game! Although I absolutely hate the formula 1 cars. I've never been able to beat the grand prix that requires using them. Burnout Legends - While it IS a remix of content from the first three games, I still consider it worth playing, simply for the fact that it lets you race on tracks from the first two games, but using the takedown mechanics of the third game. Burnout Dominator - I haven't played this one extensively, but I've played it a little. I think it has some of the most scenic and beautiful tracks in the series. Bushido Peak is my favorite. Burnout Revenge - I've only played this one a little. I always found it strange that you can just plow through traffic going the same way like you're driving some indestructible, sci-fi super-car. Also, the shortcuts are super-frustrating because they put obstacles along the edges for you to smash into unless you drive perfectly, often making the shortcuts into a liability. Burnout Paradise - I've never played this. I want to, but I morally object to the idea of paying for content delivered digitally, that can't be backed up. There's no physical copy for the PS3 or Xbox 360 that includes the major DLC (big surf island), and I'm not even sure if it can still be downloaded. Even if it can, it will be locked to the system that downloaded, meaning if it ever dies, you have to hope you can re-download it. What about Burnout Paradise Remastered? I don't have those consoles, and it still needs to download patches, so same situation. Hey, I'll just get it for Windows, right? The Windows version is ENTIRELY download-only and infected with Denuvo DRM that negatively affects performance. Point me to a COMPLETE copy on physical media that doesn't need to download anything else to have the entire game, and I'll happily buy it. Burnout Crash - Never played this.
A bunch of friends and I were top 1000 in Burnout Revenge on 360. We were even part of the petition for them to open the servers back up when they first shut them down. I sank a hell of a lot of hours into that game. ... And I don't regret a single moment 🏎️
1 Burnout revenge 2 Burnout Paradise 3 Burnout 3 4 Burnout 2 5 Burnout dominator 6 Burnout 7 Burnout crash Burnout is still nice, but just less in content wise
Burnout Dominator was my favorite. The racing aspect was just incredible and the boost sound incredible and the best out of the series.Getting x48 burnout chains was the most invigorating thing ever.I don't care about the crash mode or crashing in general and I enjoyed Dominator for the racing aspect solely and no other series has come close to matching the racing aspect except for Paradise. I think Paradise is the best in the series offering a wide variety of activities and cars. For someone like me who only cares about the racing you can do that, you only like takedowns well you can do that or if you like survival you can do that ect.
I've played paradise, revenge, legends and dominator before and i feel like dominator is my favourite. Sure, dominator was my first burnout game so that might be bias. Anyways, I'm not saying that it's objectively the best game, but i keep coming back to it the most. I love how every race has that crashbreaker feature and i also love how it lets you do boost chaining. Even though it had no crash mode, i still think it's very fun and very underrated. I'm trying to get burnout 3 and I've loved the rest of the burnouts too. I do wish that they ported the game to more platforms too. Maybe it could've gotten at least a little bit of popularity
For me, at least from the PS2 era Burnout Dominator is still my favorite and then Takedown, for some reason chaining the burnouts while also having agressive opponents makes the game even faster and crazier than Takedown, the first races are much better compared to takedown's slower gameplay (both are fast ofc), but I also miss the game modes and variety, also takedown maps are better for me, also road rage and burning lap are better in dominator.. Both games are awesome and have some good and bad points compared to each other, the golden era of burnout was there.. I also played Paradise and its awesome too.
I would put 3 over Paradise (since Paradise has some glaring issues because of the open world) but Revenge being number 1 should always be a thing in any Burnout tier list
Personally, I enjoyed Burnout 1 a lot, but for a different reason. Compared to Burnout 2, it felt more thrilling and tense with the AI keeping me on my toes. However, the game was also quite frustrating, considering how easy it is to get blindspotted by traffic around turns. Then again, it is also more fun to cause pile-ups there, since you usually don't fly off the track when you crash, but instead block the road and cause other opponents to crash. I wouldn't exactly compare them to the rest of the series due to how different they are, gameplay wise.
The older ones had a better risk/reward system, a greater sense of satisfaction for not crashing for the whole race, the new ones are low skill comparatively
My first burnout game was legends for the psp in 2005. Absolutely loved it. Later that year I bought an Xbox 360 at launch and bought burnout revenge with it. Burnout revenge is my second favorite racing game of all time. My favorite racing game is nfs 3 hot pursuit for the ps1/pc. A difficult game where if you make a mistake then you pretty much lost the race. I still own revenge and so happy it can be played on the xboxone. I don’t think we will ever get another burnout game and tbh we don’t need one.
Ok we need to take into account that Burnout 2 was not a budget racing for the time, it was really a high end arcade experience, of course looking now back, compared to 3 and 4 it doesn't look good, but some tracks like Airport and so on, its really good.
Also has a different vibe, 2 was all about boost chains and time trails, chaining together three laps with constant boost has never been bettered in the series imo, it became too much like destruction derby later on
burnout 1 was really a big deal when it came out, it seems slow now but at the time the speed combined with actual crash mechanics there really wasnt anything else like it at the time
Burnout 3 is definitely better than Paradise. Although i love paradise, and its cool and all but it gets very boring after a while. Burnout 3 is perfect, there arent any game breaking bugs, no annoying bugs which are obvious, you can encounter some bugs but they arent much for example not giving you the takedown point, or giving you the takedown point even though you didnt even touch that oponent. Its just a PERFECT game overall. Sure Revenge has many improvements, but it also has a lot more bugs, doesnt have some features that made Burnout 3 so good (for example singleplayer besides career). These 2 games are pretty much equal, but I'd give 3 the first place, purely because it is more userfriendly, more consistent and rather fun than challenging.
I am a true Burnout fan from back in the day and I have played every game except for the first one and honestly I also never played Crash! Either but I don't really consider it a real Burnout game more like a spin-off of sorts I have to admit I was curious to see your number 1 pick and after watching this video I 100% agree with you Burnout-Paradise is awesome and it's pretty amazing that you can even play it today legitimately on modern consoles but hands down Burnout- Revenge is the best in the series!
My man, you have to solve the video corruption issues. The constant stuttering and big blocky chunks in the videos don’t look good. Keep in mind to try to match the original aspect ratio as well. Just looking out for you, the video content you have is great, and you deserve to go far.
Appreciate it, I think its a combination of things, but I think it was using my old pc to record everything. Its 8 years old, I just built a new one last week. Im hoping this fixes it a little because its frustrating how much some of the videos have the big blocky chunks
Revenge is SUCH a special game to me. It's the first ever game I played on my PS2 back in like 2007. And to this day, it's my favorite racing game of all time. I do love Paradise, but Revenge is like THE shit for me, there's few games, hell... there's few things as cool as it in this world.
imma say this every time burnout revenge will always be the best racing or destruction game ever i still remember the first time my brother got me it for my 8th birthday and i still have it to this very day
Revenge and Takedown are easily my favourites in the series. They're both cathartic in their own ways and I keep playing them even after over a decade.
yes in 4k on emuu :3
I wonder how it would look on the series X
@@angelserrano9049 Especially if it gets the enhanced treatmemt😎
Those were the only 2 I owned ironically 😂
Takedown and paradise are my faves
I really miss Burnout 3. The sense of speed is insane
ooh marathon symbol pfp
Takedown and revenge really are the punk rock of racing games. Pure, white knuckled, stripped down, adrenaline fueled madness and a huge rush of euphoria when you get'in the zone'.such a shame they don't make games like this anymore.
YESSSS! And let's not forget about Crash FM!
It's all trap trap trap! It's frustrating now I miss the Atv vs. motercross, ssx series, ect so much choices on soundtracks we were spoiled
I love that its 2023 and burnout is still going. Please keep doing content like this and I will gladly watch it
As a diehard Nijigasaki High School Idol Club fan, Burnout still in everyone's hearts.
Burnout Paradise has a lot of missing features compared to 3 & Revenge, including crash aftertouch, crashbreaker, bronze/silver/gold medals, crash mode, etc
And I still can't decide whether traffic checking was a good thing or not
Worst thing about Revenge is no Single event mode, world tour can get repetitive after you beat them. I'm not against traffic checking, but I prefer Takedowns balanced mix of mechanics and vehicle balance. I think crash mode is done better in Takedown, honestly.
@@speedinguyTraffic checks in Paradise is toned down completely man.
@@tropixx_xlr1549for me Revenge big weakness is also the golf like start meter on PS2. Which can get annoying.
It has showtime mode, is like a combination of crash mode and traffic check
Showtime was the most boring mode in Burnout Paradise
Paradise wasn't bad at all but Revenge was the pinnacle of the series and arcade racers in general. It was perfection
Fun side note : Burnout Dominator is also on PSP. Granted it's not as good as 3 or Revenge when comparing to main consoles, but it's more than good enough for the PSP !
And psp version we can add 2 track..
They had a PS2 port too IIRC
@@kyledodson2992 yeah it was 1st released on psp then ported on ps2 like the GTA games that came out on psp
Wrong the PS2 was the lead version of Burnout Dominator then ported to PSP like Burnout Legends on PSP, you could clearly see the cutscenes of the gameplay on the PSP are from the PS2 version and while the PSP version has an exclusive content just SVR 2006
Dominator is still so much fun.
I would put revenge at 2nd and Takedown at 1. Takedown just felt so good and extremely nostalgic, especially road rage, it was the greatest thing ever made
YES! and let's not forget Crash FM🤤
Fuk Takedown
I see what ur getting at but I have to agree with the video, pretty much takes 3 and puts it on Crack 😂 I think the reason why it has been ranked higher than takedown is because of the improved traffic mechanics. 3 and Revenge are still tied though for me, impossible to rank one over the other
Ditto
Revenge is more nostalgic to me since it was my first burnout, but I can understand that
Burnout 3 might be my favourite game of all time. I literally cannot think of a single thing I don't like about that game. I just love the progression and the world tour feeling of the game. The thing I don't like about paradise is the map/open world. The tracks in burnout 3 just had so much variety that paradise lacks.
The music and Crash FM was 👌👌👌
Paradise is my only Burnout game, but I love the open world of the game a ton.
The fact that a great game like burnout dominator is in the worst half shows how good were all the burnout games
Yea, but for me this game is little bit underrated
@@lemon2235True. But maybe if it was released on other consoles and not just ps2 and ps3 perhaps it would've gotten more popularity
i've never really liked the open world aspect of Paradise to be honest. don't get me wrong, i think it's a great game, but i think the creative diverse environments suit this series better than a single open world location
Dominator was my childhood, a small portion of it, I was 10 at that time, I made a friend who had this game in the PS and me in the PSP.
So wait, the games after the 1st one make me Heisenberg?
@@thehwguy4293it clearly is the broken bad experience
i agree with you, for me the important thing is to race and making my rivals crash but evading traffic
I too did rarely care about crash mode and i also think that traffic checking made "Revenge" too easy
And Burnout 1 was released on 3 consoles
I also heard that the difficulty depents on wich console version you play
Paradise is my favorite I think the open world is the perfect marriage for the franchise, go around the city with no limits taking any path destroying anyone
paradise is easily the only good game in the series.
@@DW98rosy Only? Hey man, no need to exaggerate
@artursales259 I was about to say. Paradise is my personal favourite but the games were all bangers
@@lemonov3031 Nah you don't know taste the hunt
YESSSS
Idk, I played the skate series, I don't remember drifting around corners at 120 mph. 😂
Nah, I get it. It does have a 2008 feel for a game that wasn't released in 2008, I like the style the games offer personally, but its always cool to get another person's perspective on this stuff.
@@AUDHDlucy I got up to 60mph in skate 3 several times
Burnout Takedown is a 10. It is an acceptable choice for greatest game of all time. The only slight weakness in that game is the lack of real cars.
I need to try 3 but I feel like Revenge is a 10
Very dated and flat in comparison to its offspring, but its unfair when you throw it on a list against the future generations that became gaming GOATs
8: Crash: Brought me actual physical pain to see how watered down and PG this looks in comparison to Takedown and Revenge like my god PLEASE take Burnout's namesake off this travesty.
1. Burnout 3
2. Burnout Revenge
3. Burnout Paradise
4. Burnout 2
5. Burnout Dominator
6. Burnout Legends
7. Burnout
The reason I put 3 above Revenge is simple.
I like revenge as number 1. I never got bored of traffic attack it keep me hooked. But this is a good list
Paradise for sure my favorite I remember everyone on my friends list was either playing Paradise or GTA 4 good times
It takes a few hours to get going too bro, the first 2/3 hours of Paradise are pretty boring
@@KekusMagnusagree. Seems like Burnout Paradise also copied FH5 in terms of open world based gameplay.
@@Comuzzyfor me more like 3/5.
@@purwantiallan5089...please be kidding.

Shout out to those who never heard about the burnout series until they stumbled upon the Burnout 3 demo that was intergraded in NFS Underground 2
back when studios knew what "fun" is
Why are all the best games on consoles before 2012 i swear
For example, littlebigplanet.
How dare you imply that spending money on the third dlc thats just a bug patch isn't fun! 😂
And now they don't know what this is? What do you mean?
i just played burnout 3 and from the start i was just having crazy 2000 vibes and had a blast the music is super good
Original burnout is my favorite. I respect everybody who doesn’t like it. It’s unique compared to the other burnout games.
indeed it's far from being a bad game.
Actually only 4 languages, but it is still anoying
Revenge and 3 are my two favorites. I do enjoy Paradise and dominator as well.
Haaaaaa... Dreams....
I remember when the Xbox 360 first came out they had a demo of Burnout Revenge at Best Buy and I was blown away by the graphics and the car crashes
Generally I don't like racing games but even I love Revenge. The entire game feels like when Milhouse entered his name in Bonestorm.
Paradise is also nostalgic for me,when i saw remaster in ps4,oh man.its even better than i remember
Burnout revenge is and always will be my favourite burnout games
I think many are goanna say revenge and take down are the best. I did actually start at Burnout 1 and I agree to what's stated. What was amazing was the announcer and his energetic voice from Checkpoint! Or Time Out
My worst to best list:
Burnout
Burnout Dominator
Burnout 2: Point of Impact
Burnout Paradise
Burnout 3: Takedown
Burnout Revenge
A lot of people will put Paradise first, but I've always preferred Takedown and Revenge.
I'm not including Burnout Legends and Burnout Crash, since I haven't played them.
Burnout legends is just burnout 3 with burnout 3 cars and burnout 2 cars and tracks, but slightly buggier
battle racing ignited burnout revenge is the best one in the series
I always describe Burnout Revenge as GTA in a world without guns lol
burnout legends and dominator were portable titles. while I was not aware that burnout legends was also on the nintendo DS. I have good memories of both legends and dominator on the psp. Those games were like the portable version of burnout 3 and revenge. While not very new or up to par as the console burnouts, it was good enough for the psp.
Burnout Dominator was also released for PS2
Man i miss burnout legends and Dominator on my psp, playing in in 2010, pure nostalgia
I love burnout paradise's theme. It's one of my favourite rock songs.
Agree. One crash in Burnout and its GAME OVER.
I wish it was just one lap because having to survive for like 10 minutes or more is crazy.
Burnout one and two soundtrack is on point, the series was never as good with the licence music
The only burnout game I ever played was burnout dominator I loved it
2 for ps2 holds a special place in my heart
Did you guys play both 3 and revenge online at the time?
Burnout paradise is my favourite followed by revenge then 3
I agree with paradise having one of the best soundtracks out there.
There's no such thing as a bad burnout game, at least, not to me 😁

Man I miss Burnout, but luckily I have some alternatives if you love Burnout!:
*-Flatout Series:* Before Wreckfest, there was Flatout. If you want a realistic Burnout, Flatout is for you! It's derby on its fun! (Sorry Wreckfest)
...Maybe you'll want to evade the Wii and the 3rd one.
(NOTE: I didn't put Wreckfest as that's less Burnout compared to Flatout, but I will put it as a honorable mention)
hey appreciate this! I actually ranked Flatout as well! In terms of Ridge Racer Unbound, I also played that as well it was great!
And if you are a fan of the original burnout, check out the Thrill Drive series.

Great video, this was a tremendous dose of nostalgia that I needed badly.
@@tropixx_xlr1549 thanks for the info. I didn’t even know that. I haven’t played takedown yet but I will on my series X with a wheel and pedals.

Takedown, Paradise, and Revenge are my top 3.
Burnout 2 on Xbox benefitted greatly from the custom soundtrack feature.
I rarely care about crash mode, i always was playing the races more
ALSO Revenge gave me my introduction to rock music like the wwe games so very appreciative
I had a really fond memory with burnout legends and dominator. Of course 3 takedown and revenge are the best.
You can also play Burrnout Revenge's Xbox 360 version on Xbox One and Xbox Series systems via backwards compatibility.
Burnout 1 & 2 are not budget games. At that time it was revolutionary with the speed, bending meterials or the visuals
Ok we need to take into account that Burnout 2 was not a budget racing for the time, it was really a high end arcade experience, of course looking now back, compared to 3 and 4 it doesn't look good, but some tracks like Airport and so on, its really good.
Also has a different vibe, 2 was all about boost chains and time trails, chaining together three laps with constant boost has never been bettered in the series imo, it became too much like destruction derby later on
BURNOUT REVENGE!!!!!! I love this game so much, I'm playing the whole thing. Traffic checking is some of the most fun I've had in a game.
burnout 1 was really a big deal when it came out, it seems slow now but at the time the speed combined with actual crash mechanics there really wasnt anything else like it at the time
Well my friend, you've just earned yourself a new sub
Crash FM and the music of Burnout 3 Takedown are perfect
I love burnout dominator, that was the first burnout I played and I remember it with love. I had it on PS2 and psp.
Here because of Smiling Friends
Burnout 3 was one of my first ps2 games as a kid, had no idea how spoiled I was 💀
Burnout 2 is my alltime favorit arcade racer.
Burnout 3, Legends, and Revenge is my most favorite with Burnout Dominator being least. Though the graffics for the psp were pretty good
I am a true Burnout fan from back in the day and I have played every game except for the first one and honestly I also never played Crash!
I only need Takedown. That game was the best.
I have that on my phone, I just emulate the ps2
I only need Revenge
My man, you have to solve the video corruption issues. The constant stuttering and big blocky chunks in the videos don’t look good.
Keep in mind to try to match the original aspect ratio as well.
Just looking out for you, the video content you have is great, and you deserve to go far.
Appreciate it, I think its a combination of things, but I think it was using my old pc to record everything. Its 8 years old, I just built a new one last week. Im hoping this fixes it a little because its frustrating how much some of the videos have the big blocky chunks
My favourite burnout game is strangely called need for speed most wanted 2012 (its pretty much burnout paradise 2)
