- Happy Divorce Day!
John Nolan is a 45-year-old divorcé, on his way to the bank, to put his old wedding ring in a safety deposit box. Whilst there, a group of armed criminals attempt to rob the bank! In a moment of bravery, Nolan distracts the lead robber long enough for his friend to hit the police alert button.
Perhaps a career change is exactly what Nolan needs...?
From Season 1 Episode 1 “Pilot”: John Nolan is a 45-year-old divorcé who, after witnessing (and preventing) a bank robbery in his small town, packs up his entire life to move to Los Angeles and become a cop.
Welcome to the OFFICIAL The Rookie UA-cam channel!
Follow John Nolan, a forty-five-year-old man, who leaves the comfort of his small-town life to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. Enjoy the show's best moments all in one place, as Nolan and his fellow Rookies learn to deal with not only their duties as police officers but also the ones in their personal lives. We're not at the academy anymore...

From an ODST to an Officer to a Spartan
Thank God someone made a Halo reference.
You forgot guardian
Space Cowboy, Best Selling Author, there isnt much he can't do
I was wondering
Took me a second. Man, if only Buck's character were actually the thing... training and all... Criminals wouldn't stand a chance
It's not even weird for a 45-year-old to be a rookie cop. I know a retired Marine Corp vet who was about the same age after a 20-year career with the USMC, he's doing just fine as a cop
Difference being the Ex-Marine has all the necessary basic skills to be a Cop, they just need the help to rehabilitate them back to civilian life like in the season 3 episode 11 New Blood when one of the new Rookies turns out to be Ex-Military and Bradford is assigned as her TO, he trains her totally different to how he trained Lucy with her like Nolan coming from a civilian background.
Is it relatively simple for vets to go into services like police and fire department?
@@anygoodmedia Yeah pretty easy compared to civilians
The way I think, if you can go to space as an astronaut in your 70s, you can do pretty much anything at any age.
@@Shadowkey392
"Pretty much anything at any age"
Well... try going through USMC boot camp as a 65 year-old. :-D
Castle finnaly joins the PD as a real cop. Proud of you, Rick!
You talking about the guy this show is based on?
I don't know if you know this but his Richard's real name is Nathan
@@constancelikecorn its a joke
nah, this is cayde-6 when he was still human.

Bretford behaving like a bully in high school in the locker room. That was my first impression of him when I first watched this. Ended up being a badass cop in the end.
Fax I didn’t like him at the start but he is so good inkw
Thats how some TO’s are with fresh blood rookies, not everyone goes on first day acting like its going be another job. The cast were taught off lapd.
*bradford
*Shoots robber*
_POLICE DROP THE GUN!_
Ahh yes, the negotiator
Ah yes, totally not talking the other robber that doesn't have a bullet in his head.
'Murica 🤷
+Fruity Manatee You’re an idiot.
The police shot the first robber because he was holding the gun to Nolan’s head.
@@whiteribbonman1 I am. But I'm also right.
In this day and age there's no way he would have been that disrespectful to Nolan
Most precincts are so pathetically understaffed they'll take anyone that can get through the academy, regardless of age.
@@Saacius yeah and the lapd always hiring lol
@@cam-mz5rg lmao. from what I've been told they have a massive turnover rate haha
@@sfc0744 Because most people don't want to be cops and those that do want to need a clean record, no major health problems and the ability to run.
Blah b, Sweetie there is a bare minimum of 80 million gun owners in the United States if gun owners were killing cops we would’ve run out of cops years ago.
Bradford: your father is…
Jackson: Commander West, of internal affairs
Bradford: 👁👄👁
It was very unfair how Grey treated Nolan in the beginning. Didn't like him and insulted him because of his age. I'm glad that they have a better relationship now since Nolan saved the jerks life.
Modern shows always gotta jab the white guys for no reason
@@Walhor that dosent have anytihng to do with it bro its because he was old and grey thought hed be a liability
@@Walhor it has 0 to do with skin colour, he is like 20 years older than any other rookie, not everythin is anti-white you clown. (before you start, im white)
I don't understand why people don't understand basic stuff, he was intentionally mean to him so that he can see if he's serious about this career or just fooling around, he said it himself to that, if he's serious, he wouldn't be bothered about how many times he snaps at him.
Funny how Grey treats him at the beginning and now he has mad respect for him
Yeah. He really changed
*5:53* Honestly, I wouldn't be able to resist asking after this, "Ma'am, has there ever been an officer here that has treated being an officer as a joke?"
And then she’d say “yes and we booted them straight out so you better watch your back before you ruined what you’ve worked for, do you understand me officer Nolan”
@@jackjohncomics6145 and then I'd say, "Won't need to watch my back, ma'am. That's what partners are for in this non-joking business, right?" 😁
i know i go through 6 months of training as a joke all the time. just the other week i became a deep sea welder to make a fart joke.
@@ge2719 XD
I will say I am glad the Grey disapproves of Nolan being a cop was only regulated to Season 1 because it would have gotten stale beyond that if Grey disapporved despite all Nolan has done.
8:55 this is a shop. Do not call it a car. 9:21 now we are inside the car. Make up your mind. Is it a car or a shop.

you’re dumb.
That Datsun 280z is a beauty. I love the orange colour on it.
I remember my first day
They legitimately got annoyed about how enthusiastic I was
We need more cops like Nolan.
Why even have an academy if the first thing rookies get told is “Forget the academy.”?
Its the same thing in the fire service. Go to training- once you get done, go to your department and relearn how it really works
Logan Schaefer Okay but why tho? Why not just learn it the first time?
Think it's basically a principle of anywhere, you have a boot camp like setting where they teach you all the basics and rules and how everything's supposed to be done, but then every department and every officer has there own way of doing things with adjustments that still fit within the broad term rules
That is like most of the professions I assume. What I learned in college helped but real work is something else.
Angelazreal1 nice car
So that's what Buck did after being an ODST
IamKrabby I like to think this was before you know
Well buck did turn down being a spartan he did enjoy being married to dare for a few years before he decided to
@@peteramaranth85 He and Dare were never married.
i like to think that this whole show is a refference to odst´s rookie
And he couldn't set foot on the Serenity after what happened to Wash...
And he didn't let her down. He fought for her til her very last breath.
It is good to know the reason what motived Nolan to being a cop, sometimes people underrated the job of the Police officer
"Now we're inside the car."

I miss officer bishop. She and Nolan were such a good pairing
I totally love this show and I have been addicted to it from the 1st ever episode. Absolutely superb tv show.
I like how ALL of sergeant grays remarks about Nolan are about how he’s a 40 year old man
How old is Gray, by the way?
Nolan one of the hidden master of talk no jitsu
Can you believe that 4 years ago this show started (October 16th) and is now on its way to the 5th (!!FIVE!!) Season?
MAn you gotta love the trust and respect ABC is showing Nathan Fillion
The biggest shock in this entire show, police academy takes less than a year!?
I know, right? That is excessive. Some states make due with only six hours on the firing range for training. In some states, no training required at all, just get voted into office by the local yokels. A whole year of training is just wow
@@StarlasAiko And that's not taking into account the extensive background checks, polygraph tests, psych exams, interviews with the departments, and a bunch of other stuff. All of that plus the Academy, FTO, and probation can add up to 1.5 to 2 years of training before becoming a fully-fledged police officer.
Kyle McFarland in some states, yes. In others, not so much.
Nathan Fillion has the most kindest,

officer nolan yipee kayeayyy ahaahaaaahah
Lol, this hits close.... as a 46 yo I joined territorial defense army in Poland and I sure had my share of "walking mid-life crisis" taunts. Funnier still, those 20+ jokers couldn't do half the push-ups or run half the distance I can. Up to a point age is just a number if you keep in shape, I guess only once you hit 60 things go downhill.

So this is Gunnery Sergeant Buck's origin story

The Music From 03:35 to 04:16 is Hats Down Pumpin... 🔥🔥🔥
Never gave this show a look. But this video sold me. Just 2 more seasons of The Wire and 9 more of NYPD Blue and I will take a look=P

Respect to him, I think he gets a hard time, lots of discrimination, and hassle from his boss. What is that guy trying to prove eh! Here's a guy who has had his life turned upside down and his boss wants to keep pushing it down further. Geez
The robber who talks to nolan got almost same voice as Dallas in Payday 2
