Oh my goodness……I made this with vinyl and it took me forever because my machine was rebelling!! 😳 I have a heavy duty Singer but it does have its limits! I’m saving up for a Juki and I can’t wait to get it! I love this little wallet! ❤️❤️
The Singers just aren’t what they used to be unfortunately! Investing in a better machine is something you won’t regret though as it makes the whole process so much more enjoyable if you aren’t fighting with your machine the whole way!
I'm a big Scan n cut lover. Your tutorial on cutting cork with the Scan n cut was brilliant for those who resist loving the versatility of this useful machine. I personally have some cork that I've been afraid to use. Your free pattern and cutting demo with Scan n cut have me itching to go at it. Thanks for the free pattern and the motivation that I feel to give it a whirl. Your awesome! Thank you from New Jersey!!!
Thanks so much for this, not only am I eager to try sewing cork, I have just got a Brother Scan n Cut for a birthday gift so this looks like a great first project!
You just keep them coming! Lovely little purse (wallet); can't wait to make. So love you are doing SVG files too; I bought my Cricut Maker for the express reason of making cutting out easier on my hands. Thank you!
Yes, very quick and easy! (Much easier than doing it with fabric as the layers get really thick.) I like the cutouts, too - they help older eyes see - LOL! If I ever get myself a big enough piece of non fraying material, I'll have to give it spin. ;-) As usual, the closed caption does some funny interpretations...laughed at the part about the "hump dumper"!
Yes its not bulky at all. plenty of room to stuff in some cash lol. Oh....as usual I forgot to chck the close captions hehe! It's FUN to see what it comes up with actually haha!
I love this cute little wallet. I would love to have a go at cutting with my Cricut but can't seem to download the SVG for this from the link? Can you help?
Just had this video pop-up and it is Fabulous! I’ve just Subscribed and will checkout you cutting video next. I have ScanNCut and Cricut machines and can’t wait to try this out. Looks like you might be using a Bernina machine, what foot is the 52 and why did you choose it? Can you please advise on thread weight, needle size and stitch lengths? I have a ton of supplies and excited to try making one. Thanks!😁💯🎉
The 52 Bernina foot has a non stick sole plate. I like to use it on things like cork, vinyl etc. I mostly use Aurifil cotton wt 40 thread but will use polyster or a polyster blend dressmaking thread if thats what I have in a suitable colour. I would use a 14 size jeans needle on this and stitch length usually 3.2 to 3.4. Hope this helps!
It depends on which country you are in as to which glue might be available to you. Heat Transvery Vinyl is a type of vinyl film applied (as the name suggests) using heat, like with an iron or heat press. It is suitable for fabrics. Regular sticky vinyl generally isn't suitable for fabric but rather for hard surfaces.
Since cork gets thick as it folds, do you think i could use a domestic machine with this pattern? Or would a bigger machine work best? I have a small brother cs6000i that doesnt like bulk 😢
I am using "Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive" for this one but I don't know how widely available it is outside of Australia. The main thing is to get a permanent fabric glue that dries fast. (In minutes, not hours).
I have several different machines that I use and i also love to play with old machoines but for this one I am sewing on my Bernina 550Q Its my favourite of all my machines. ☺️
I have a scanning cut I download the SVG file for some reason when I go to scan and cut grab the SVG file to download it to the machine it's not grabbing am I doing something wrong what am I doing wrong
@@ChrisWDesigns yes I unzipped it's saying the image is larger than the mat it reduced the image but still nothing happens 🤔 I went the other route printed out the pattern scan it is now in my cut file ready to be cut
@@encarnacionada2 it won't fit on a 12X12 mat, only a 12 X 24. The Printed pattern pieces need to be joined before scanning and cutting and they still won't fit on a 12 X 12 mat. I assume that is what you are using if it says it is larger than the mat.
@@ChrisWDesigns I got it now, but, anyway I did print the pattern and scanned it in my brother Scan N Cut. Ready to be cut thank you so much for sharing. I'm sure I will have fun making this project. Happy Sewing ChrisW.
Hi, I just finished Chris w designs workmen's wallet with cork. Here in the US I used Beacon Fabric-Tac. I loved it. The pattern is great, too. Can't wait to make this wallet with my cutting machine. Thanks Chris
OH super, now I have something quick to make up for little gifts. Thanks so much
Have fun! My Pleasure! ☺️

Hey my friend... this is a cutie no doubt... well done... x
Thank you so much! :)
Great project! What is the difference between the LETTER, A4 and A3 files?
Thank you! It's the paper size. You choose the file according to whether you are going to print on A4 or Letter size paper. :)
Thank you for the tutorial and files! I’m definitely going to try with my scan n cut! Curious what type/weight thread are using?
You are welcome! :) I just use my regular Aurafil 4WT thread for this. :)
Great wallet, great tutorial 😊❤ thanks a lot
You're welcome 😊
Why do you leave the quarter inch at the bottom? Great quick project. Thanks
So it leaves a more curved shape and a bit of space in case you want to add some coins, rather than flattening it as much. 😊
What fast drying glue brand? And what is Heat Transfer Vinyl?

Thanks Sally, I hope you enjoy it and will share some pics, too! ☺️
This is awesome! Can you fix the SVG link please?
I’m not sure what you mean by “fix the SVG link”? It’s a zip file and you will need to unzip it after downloading it. Hope this helps!
@ChrisWDesigns It was giving me an error message last night but I tried it again and it worked. Thanks.
Awesome!
Since cork gets thick as it folds, do you think i could use a domestic machine with this pattern? Or would a bigger machine work best? I have a small brother cs6000i that doesnt like bulk 😢
I’m not familiar with your machine but I tested this on two domestics. My newer Bernina and an old Elna. Both managed quite easily.
@ChrisWDesigns okay, I'm gonna try it! Thank you so very much!
Awesome! Let me know how you go/went with it! :)
