    Hello everyone,
    In part 2 we head to Glen Affric and spend a couple of nights camped on Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin before bailing out on the last night as a storm was on the way. The loch revealed some crazy reflections as we paddled through and I try a flat earth ale 🍺
    Thanks for watching!

    Ben, I agree with what you where saying about the advantages of taking a small axe given the size of the hand saw for processing wood, I swear by my Gransfors Bruks outdoors axe, light weight and ideal for splitting wood and general camp tasks, great channel and look forward to this years videos

      Thanks Darren 👍 The GB Outdoors axe is probably the perfect trekking axe, I'm really tempted to buy one as I think the extra length in the handle would make it more versatile than the hand hatchet. Not sure if I have room for another axe though! 😂

    Clunes is where Charles Kennedy, the former Whisky loving SNP leader, is burried. Burrial site is on a hill a few hundred meters west of Clunes on the south side of the river. The Camerons on one side and the Kennedys on other side.

    Beautiful footage of the kaleidoscope effect of the reflections against the water ben 👏👏👌 could I ask ben , did you and tris get those jumpers from Sweden 🤔 And as you say why chop down an obvious live tree 😤 or stick a knife in just for a photo shot 🙄 A very enjoyable video ben & triss 🛶🔥🥂

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Cheers Martin, I often find live trees hacked to bits for campfire wood, usually next to a fire pit full of unburned green wood. I have a collection of vintage wool jumpers, most of them I bought second hand for about £15. The one I was wearing was actually made in the USA 👍

      Thanks mate! Not sure where my favourite place is, probably Glen Affric but it's not that great for camping. The Cairngorms are a great place too, lots of opportunity to hike and wild camp up there 👍

    This is the best thing i've seen on UA-cam so far. I love your wit (that flat earth thing was hilarious), and your appreciation for nature is like another person in your videos. Shame on the people that left that garbage at their site. That reflection stuff is what lifelong memories are made of, i had a similar amazing natural experience with the northern lights in Michigan's upper peninsula. Sheer luck to have been there and out in the open camping when it happened. No pics or video, it was before all the smart phone stuff, but i'll remember and appreciate it forever.
    What's your take on that Winnerwell stove after a few uses, you expect that'll make it to your standard equipment pack when you canoe and overnight in the cold, or have you been unimpressed? How many times have you used it so far, does it seem like it holds up and will go the distance for you? Thanks for any feedback on it.

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  2 роки тому

      Thanks! Yes it was extraordinary to see those reflections, I probably won't see anything like it again.
      Regarding the stove; it works really well. It is so light you barely know you're carrying it. The only down side I've found (apart from the price) is that it doesn't throw out the heat as well a steel stove would once you've got a good bed of coals. I found it needed to be loaded with wood regularly to keep the heat going. Obviously this is down to the stove being made of 1mm titanium, but it's a small price to pay for the convenience it offers. Hope that helps! 👍

    Great video.
    Glen affric is on my to do list for this year, canoe camping with my son and Boxer dog.
    Ive paddled the Great Glen and many other Lochs around Scotland.
    But ive been hoping to get up this area for a while now, my concern is where to leave the car as i wont have the luxury of going with someone else where we leave one veh at one end, and another further on.
    If i get up there while winter is still on ill take my one tigris Smokey hut tipi tent and winnerwell stove for the trip.
    All the best.
    Geordie.

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Geordie, there's a few places to leave the car by the loch. I leave mine at the large lay by next to the dam, it's about 50 metres to the loch from there. There's also two official car parks along the loch. Last September we met a couple who'd parked where we had at the dam, they paddled down Loch Beinn a'Mheadhoin and then portaged into Loch Affric and then done the return journey back to the car; they left the car there for 7 days with no issues. Cheers mate 👍

    Excellent! Those reflections on the water and the photos are well creepy, I can see faces! Almost like totem poles or some kind of sacrificial stuff. Looks amazing but with the stillness that would be freaking me out. Wouldn't want to be going to the loo in the night that's for sure! Thanks for the video, lucky with the weather!
