Depends on the car. For me, the shape of the car has a lot to do with this. In Atlanta, I see guys with the wrong wheel setup for the car. That doesn’t really annoy me. But whenever I hear someone refer to wheels with a deep lip as “offsets”, it really grinds my gears. Technically, all wheels have different offsets. But they don’t listen.🤦🏽♂️

I don't even have to watch the video to tell you that wheel styles you choose should be based on what you like and what looks good on the vehicle you are running. Some wheels look better on certain vehicles than other kinds. Just decide what fits, looks good, and makes things pop in style.
I had to replace my rims from my Sport Trac from the FoMoCo rims to the KMC KM673 Skitch Satin Black rims. I think they look great and they kind of have a little of everything when it comes to the wheel looks you are describing. Sadly enough, they are discontinued.

I love both,but i rebuild myself some 3 piece Artec mk dynamics(9,75x18 and 10,25x18 with 2,75 and 3,25 lips)not that well known wheels but they use them on porsches. My single piece wheels are concave Team Dynamics Jade R's( discontinued i believe,i bought the last 2 wheels in 9,5x18 that where in stock in my country) and my winterwheels are Team Dynamics pro race 1.2 8x17.
Tsw willows were my favorite when shopping for them ended up picking up a set of 4 for $400 with tires

About to order some wheels for my Silverado 26x9/26x12 I asked how wide my rear lip would be and they told me is was a soft lip just trying to figure out what that means lol
I like the concave look as well. I bought a set of Gloss Black TSW Clypse rims and they really changed the look of my 2021 Hyundai Palisade Limited. The rims gave it that touch of aggression that was missing from the it.
I keep eyeing up the tsw clipse in gloss black for my tlx how have they held up
@@dropem555 …….They are doing very well. I’ve put about 10k miles on them, and I have no complaints. The ride is smooth and with the Michelin CrossClimate2 tires that I’m rolling on, it’s an improved ride.

Why not a convex deep lip? Spokes start out at the back on the edges and the face is level with the edge of the wheel on the front. Can’t really find anything that looks like that

Alex i need you, or more your help but not in a shrink kind of way, come to think of it i might need one after all 😂 well i went and bought a 2019 volkswagen golf (Dont know if its really a vw as i havent seen a check engine light yet), not one of those R models not even a GTI. But one with a 3 cylinder 995cc engine (might need a shrink?) i decided to go for that one as im mainly using it to commute back and forth to work (60kms a day). The good thing is that atleast it got an R-Line package and is painted in the Oryx white paint that is a pearl paint that makes it shift between white and a really nice grey color (papers sais its silver, havent seen it silver thou). Ok well enough talking. I would like to know what you would choose for kind of suspension as in air or coilovers? And what wheels would you choose for it, brand and color? Im usually rather good at choosing wheels but i feel i cant even decide upon what color to use as the car shifts color. Did u just win anything for making the longest comment on UA-cam 😂😂

Cars are wind tunnel tested, to improve efficiency, reduce drag and wind noise. Are wheel tested? For Areo and brake cooling? Style is great but is a functional wheel also taken into consideration for most wheels? 🤔
Yes, but mainly for structural rigidity.
For the most part the wheels are whatever looks good. The main thing with oems is to either vent wheel wells or move air around them.
They don't bother to use wheels to remove air from the wheel well. Way to much work and not enough gain.
Besides, oems offer 19 & 20 inch wheels with a lot of space between the brake caliper and the wheel it's just for looks. Aftermarket wheels (good ones) go through testing to meet some minimum of quality. Best advice it avoid eBay wheels and any decent manufacturer will have specs on their website or provide them when you ask
makes since. Thanks for sharing your knowledge comrade. I want to add some offset to my wagon. Oem Wheels are tucked a bit much. So guess if I want more offset, I should look into a balance of function and form.
wheel aero as far as I have seen only are designed into supercars and race cars to funnel air in and cool the brakes. it's possible some of the newest OEM sports cars could have this feature as well as that tech usually trickles down over time
@@Vultite nah a lot of cars have some ducting to the brakes. My 99 ls400 has this. What the op was asking was like designing the wheel to be like a fan and pull the air out.
While possible, it really doesn't work. Standard wheel vents are significantly easier to make and install. But they can look good, look at Koenigsegg agera wheel fans
Uhhh I'm sorry but VIP Japanese wheel manufacturers have been doing concave face with a deep lip for decades. I have original Weds Kranze LXZ On my Stagea. They have had a flat or concave face option on a 3 piece wheel since they were released in the 90's.

I’m a fan of all 3 but my favorite is a concave wheel. They in my opinion look cleaner. The only thing I don’t like about wheels with deep lips is they collect so much dirt and dust so you’re cleaning your lips every day vs concave where the dirt and dust collects on the inside of the wheel so you don’t see it as much
