2022 Update: As of now, the Treasure Island INN has been demolished (presumably through Google Earth.) Nothing has gone through yet, and the land is just a clear patch of grass along with a fence.
It might be never updating anything since it was built in the 1950's combined with being super racist. I've actually stayed there, the rooms are like going back in time.
Heck yeah, I went about two years back and it has definitely seen better days... It was like a ghost town, it was dead empty except for the workers. Plus the watch tower elevator was "down for maintenance" which I'm guessing means closed for good.
Oh, Jake Jake Jake. Your videos are so well put together and so easy to follow. It’s always my “unwinding time” to watch your content! Love your style, only thing I would change is for you to upload more! Can’t get enough!
My father Jeffrey was the front desk manager for several years in the 90's, I grew up running around the Treasure Island Inn. So many memories of the pools, watching Nick's Saturday night programming in an unrented room, playing in the arcade... Really sad to see it in this state.
Lmao I actually live in Daytona and you know way more about this building than any of the actual locals do. To me and my friends it's just another I4 eyesore. The hotel is actually a great symbolic representation of Daytona. Old, washed up, and trashed by spring breakers. But considering all the recent developments we've had over the past 2 years, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually got around to renovating it soon. It's not gonna fix any problems with the city, but that won't stop them from pouring money into it. Great video though. I love your channel.
Thanks for doing this rather complicated and convoluted "update" over this building. Some good shots of the building in various stages over the years. I suspect that there's something very fundamentally wrong with the basic structure and construction of the property for it to remain for so many years unfinished in a place like that location.
Jake, when you first started making these videos they were pretty interesting. But now that you have a lot of information about the building/business past and possibly a idea of its future, these videos are addicting. Please don't "abandon" your great work!!
I worked at the Treasure Island as a bellman back in its hey day. It was quite the place for the time. And always very busy most of the year aside from the dead winter season back then. I was in my late teens/early 20s then. I haven’t lived in Daytona for decades and hadn’t been back aside from one trip in early 2019. Sad it looks as it does. I recall it being so busy and full of life. But we all were young and full of life back then too. Pre 1982.
just went to daytona beach last week and decided to look into this building since it still is a huge abandoned hotel.. nothing has changed from the looks of it
I think it's really sad that such an amazing part of Daytona Beach's history can't find someone with the soul and the deep pockets needed to return this gorgeous building back to its former glory! x
That budget is scary big! Crazy to think of having 20 million to spend as a businessperson much less an individual. Especially considering so many projects (if not most) go over. It makes more sense why so many places are abandoned and then stay that way especially since I've been watching your channel.
I stayed in Treasure Island Inn on DAYTONA Beach, Oct 1977 swam in the Pool, I was 20 then. The menu did a great Fried Chicken & Ceaser Salad I remember.. quite a plain decor, nothing too upper class in style a lot of Orange, Pink & Yellow Hibiscus Flowered Bedding. Dark wood and Bamboo ceilings fans. First trip to Florida. I hope when the Reset has passed, and things improve, they rebuild from the Plan, looks like a Tiki Hotel from the drawing, I would come back.
I went back to watch the original video of this story , and I would like to congratulate BrightSunFilms on their evolution from “BrightSunGames”. Quality and presentation have really improved over the years and I really enjoy watching your videos
I remember growing up with an iconic tower. First it was MGM Grand, then Bally's, then Hilton, & now it's Grand Sierra Resort. & after 40 years, it's barely changed in appearance at all despite changing hands every decade.
Unfortunately the reputation of Daytona Beach, deservedly or not, has taken a big hit in the past 10 years. And less tourism doesn’t bode well for existing hotels and/or construction of new ones. I hope it bounces back. It’s a great place !
I suspect that the hotel will be demolished and with the newly gained free space together with the empty neighboring plot a new building will be created! Thanks for the video!

Last I heard property was in foreclosure in February. There are numerous code violations and fines owed. They have to do a LOT of work to even get the place up to code BEFORE they could even work on it. DBS code enforcement said it is not safe for anyone to "go to work" on the site and there is a laundry list of things that need to be done. I lived about 18 miles north of Daytona from 1997-2001. I live across the street from this. I think that Jaymor walked away from it in 2020 or 2021. The city of Daytona Beach Shores put the property on a ten year watch-redevelop in ten years or tear it down. I think that was in 2016 or 2017, but that’s a guess.

I go to data all the time since 2002 and this hotel has truly been an eyesore since thosehurricanes. There were others along that beach line that became eyesore but they were at least dealt with quickly. I'm glad though that they are finally doing something with it.
Can you do a video on the Preston Springs Hotel in Cambridge Ontario. This abandoned building has an interesting history as it has sulphur Springs in it and people apparently came from all over the world to be healed by the Sulphur Springs.
as someone who lives in daytona, most of the city is abandoned anyway. lol. theres a whole abandoned rollercoaster (and a few other rides) with not even so much as a fence around it (last time i went, anyway)
I found and saw your earlier video you made and talked about how it looked as of August 2020. I'm wondering when I return in August 2021 if what was will still be standing?
THANK YOU for not using lots of handheld film/non-steady cam film. I had to stop watching your channel because there was so much and I get motion sick.
Technically data such as this should be available online; not sure if it is the case with this property. If one wants to know the direction the property is going; follow the money. Go to the borough, city and/or state to find out about items such as property tax status (if it is paid in full). The same (or linked) sites will also show any liens on the property. For commercial property, taxes are not cheap - even when it is under construction. The cost of 24 hour security in the area could also exceed 75,ooo-200,000 per year. The property could also be a type of legal default status. What does that mean exactly? Ever apply for a building permit? Ever been under the watchful eye of zoning and/or building inspectors. ALL of these items apply, especially with commercial property, especially in that neighborhood. Technically they could be forced into court over it, even go into the process of losing the building. Btw; even given that the building renovation was somewhat started... Water damage will find a way to impact this building in a major way. Chances are, grave water damage has already started.
Video Idea: abandoned Coco Palms Hotel in Kauai, Hawaii. Old Elvis hotel featured in Blue Hawaii and other films abandoned after hurricane Iniki in 1992, lots of similar issue to this property but even more controversy. Would love to hear your take on it!
Jake, I dont know if you've covered this yet or not but the goodyear horse track in arizona is a legend here. I would highly recommend looking it up. I can also provide video footage. It has a lot of history and a future ahead of it.

I would love a video about the history of detroit mainly about its downfall and all of its abndoned buildings, even in in the suburbs. I find it amazing how an entire city loses half its population.
That would take hours and be vary political. And it won't be kind to the ones who care about feelings over facts. The fact that Hiroshima of all places is a bustling city and Detroit died is a failure of leadership. Not naming names, but the Auto industry was only a part of the cities manufacturing industry.
well......for years Detroit was a shining beacon but by 1999 decay set in and in a undisclosed year the OCP corp unveiled plans to renovate the city but they needed extra security for the thousands of workers and SVP Richard Jones's Enforcement Droid series 209 failed a live test but Robert Morton SVP of Security Concepts division had a swell plan to have a volunteer cop become a 24/7 cop.... this Robot Cop went ahead and took on one of the city's most dangerous criminal gangs just as cops across the city took to the streets to strike....this lead to further financial hardship for the city..... a notorious drug dealer Kain flooded the streets with nuke, a new designer drug 100X more potent than cocaine,m naturally Robocop took on this criminal but was destroyed then rebuilt as a SJW cop who attempted to commit suicide but ended up rebooting his programming instead, now back on the job he killed Kain but OCP in their infinite wisdom decided to put a criminal into the chassis of a mecha and make that Robocop 2 then a huge honking robot battle ensued..... we won't even get into when a Japanese company tried to get the Delta City project back on track...NO, that time isn't spoken of.....[walks away]
mgunter vary? San Francisco has a poop problem. The homeless of La and San Diego have Tyfus, a disease once eradicated in the west. Every city that is controlled by Democrats for too many years stops enforcing the law and creates a community of corruption. It is a story of violence and racism. Black on white racism. When Coleman Young declares white owned business had to pay higher taxes than white business. He refused to enforce the law on violent black on white crime. A similar thing is happening in South Africa as did in Zimbabwe 15 years ago. the white people left and the money left.
Dang I never knew you did a video on this, I have footage from high school about 5 years ago of my friends and I going in there one night. My dad even worked there once when he was in high school.
I say in 5 or 10 years the structure has been exposed to salt and moisture for so long it wont be worth the investment. Demolished.
Looks to be just a, 'nail house,' which is an incomplete dysfunctional building put up for some debt based financial scheme.

I live across the street from this. I think that Jaymor walked away from it in 2020 or 2021. The city of Daytona Beach Shores put the property on a ten year watch-redevelop in ten years or tear it down. I think that was in 2016 or 2017, but that’s a guess.
why is this hotel literally me. a abandoned mess that people are trying to fix up but they just give up on it. "my life be like ooh aa oooh aaa"
Ironically! I’m at Daytona this weekend!
It feels like my birthday today because Dan bell and bright sun film upload some awesome content in one day 😭. Yep my Friday is set !
Also congrats on the 7 year anniversary hope your channel has many more . 🙏🏻🙌🏼
Really enjoy updates, thank you!
Excellent job Jake! Thank you for the update video.
Or will they hold the property until a hurricane takes it out then seek insurance and government money
My thought exactly.

Good point
The man returns
Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
Dude, you should start making videos of abandoned buildings in Malaysia or Singapore
I've been waiting for another new video from you! Congrats on seven years, love your videos!! 😄😄😄
as someone who lives in daytona, most of the city is abandoned anyway. lol. theres a whole abandoned rollercoaster (and a few other rides) with not even so much as a fence around it (last time i went, anyway)
I found and saw your earlier video you made and talked about how it looked as of August 2020. I'm wondering when I return in August 2021 if what was will still be standing?
For future episode ideas, you should do an episode Payless Shoe Source, the rise and fall.
THANK YOU for not using lots of handheld film/non-steady cam film. I had to stop watching your channel because there was so much and I get motion sick.
I’m gonna do it for the prints. Those are 🔥 🔥 love the videos.
All of this is rather surreal to me because I’m about ten minutes away from the hotel but I never really drive by it.
I love your videos keep up the good work !
Almost positive that Hilton bought this hotel and it will be opening as Rush Daytona Beach by Hilton this summer.
Jake, I dont know if you've covered this yet or not but the goodyear horse track in arizona is a legend here. I would highly recommend looking it up. I can also provide video footage. It has a lot of history and a future ahead of it.
Great update!👍
I’m going on vacation in Daytona Beach, I’m gonna have to check this out.
never get tired of that intro pal!
It's Crazy I live in Daytona Beach and I know exactly where it's at! I remember when I was younger I wanted to go since it had a "cool name" but now it's just sitting there. Lol Ill keep you updated on whats gonna happen with it
This was timely. I just drove by it the other day. Looks exactly like it does in the vid.
Daytona Beach also isn't in the best shape it's been in
NOU GAMES actually the area close to the speedway is as nice as it’s ever been
Torn down today
Love your vids Jake! Keep up the work man!
quick search shows the hotel is being demolished as of AAPRIL 26 2022
It is indeed finally coming down!
All the money they wasted trying to refurbish the abandoned hotel ONLY for it to get demolished
I would love a video about the history of detroit mainly about its downfall and all of its abndoned buildings, even in in the suburbs. I find it amazing how an entire city loses half its population.
Aaron Rakita the suburbs never lost population, and there are not abandoned buildings in the suburbs.
Red Lantern's Rage exactly:)
Dang I never knew you did a video on this, I have footage from high school about 5 years ago of my friends and I going in there one night. My dad even worked there once when he was in high school.
