Love received here. Loving you right back! Thank you, you wonderful Mammals. ❤️ Daniel Quinn changed my life when I read his book Ismael 10 years ago as an 18 year-old. I was thinking about him again a couple weeks ago as I wrote my term paper for an environmental philosophy class I’m taking. His explanation of “mother culture” and exploration of the destruction wrought through the typical Western worldview (humans as separate from nature, takers) opened my eyes. He also inspired possibilities for building a new culture (or maybe more like remembering an ancient one?) that places humanity back in context with the rest of nature and includes respect for all life on Earth (leaving what we don’t need). Your music is contributing to that culture!
Holy moly! Yes! Ishmael and Daniel Quinn has become a major touchstone for me. In fact, many of the songs from our latest record Nonet are inspired by DQ. So much so that they are now featured on his website here www.ishmael.org/inspired-by/ I actually buy Ishmael about 40 copies at a time and distribute them freely to all who ask. Lately I’ve been slipping them in with album orders. So happy that you intuited this connection. Thanks for writing!
Also are you familiar with Dr. Zach Bush? His message of the intelligence of nature is very Quinnian. There a lot of great vids of his out there. Here’s a good one I watched recently ua-cam.com/video/8t3HMfCyHIE/v-deo.html
Thanks for all you're doing for us and our children's children. Pete and Daniel are smiling in many hearts through your music. And thanks for the connection to Zach Bush!
I found the mammels through mr Grossman's UA-cam guitar lesson of a song played by peggy cotton, who worked for Pete Seeger's family when they lived in DC ( where I'm from ) that made me interested in pete Seeger's formative years, his extended family landed me at Wikimedia site that fleshed out the rest. Btw, I lived in the Hudson valley ling time ago. Ran into pete Seeger once, in the woods, of course I couldn't Express all my gratitude in a moment so a hello and a hand shake had to do. Thanks for this music today. Your group is very very good. Stay well.
That was a very moving performance. I enjoy your CDs a lot, but there is something special about your performances when you are an acoustic duo! Thanks for sharing it!
What chance is there that both Kevin Cattrell and Keith Cattell would comment on this? Such similar names! Am I the only one who picked up on Mikey's reference to Daniel Quinn? I didn't know that he passed away. RIP
OK Stop. That was the most beautiful sound that I might have ever heard!
Appreciate you so very much!
Thank you ❤ much love from Cleveland Ohio 👋

Joe LaRose (the composer of "Winder Slide," who is based in Ohio) just told me that this is "maybe my favorite of the videos of people playing WS."
I like the term "Sunshiner"... lots of miners in my family tree.

Now that was thoroughly delightful ... many thanks for this plein-air goodness, your unpretentious delivery is spot on
So good to hear these songs with that forest backdrop and avian chorus. 🎼
