here's a tip, you can try to block in the body using sort of a diamond like shape that starts where the top of the head will be, the bottom of the feet, and both sides of the body end, then start your sketch within that shape you made. Basically imagine if someone is wrapped in clear saran wrap or in some kind of cocoon, draw that shape, then block out the body before starting the sketch. Think of it like this, you have an arm that is bent at a 90 degree angle, you would end up with a triangle if you followed my advice, then as a second step you would block out the arm within that triangle. Try this with a whole body in any pose you want. Just make the shape so you know what space you have to work with and your proportions will get a bit better. Hope this helped :).

as someone who studied anatomy first before knowing how shapes and gestures work in performing anatomy, DONT study bones and muscles first. Makes you look smart and cool for knowing how they function, but wont really help you if the cup of knowledge you hold in poses is lacking. Plus, its mainly because bones and muscles are all shapes. If you dont know how shape a looks like if its stretched, if its viewed from the side, the knowledge is hard to apply I recommend understanding gesture and shapes first as representatives of body parts, because technically our bodies are just a bunch of complex shapes together. Always use references, dont act cocky like I did thinking you can do it without one. If you have fair knowledge of body poses in shape form, thats when you study the bones then muscles.
