Would be so cool to have a bigger series like this where you go to small surf towns and get stock boards from local shapers (ones that aren't machining. But are shaping/glassing everything themselves).
The top Pros get their boards glassed the LEAST amount possible, because its all about light weight, performance and not worrying about breaking boards.
might have been a fairer comparison if the stock boards were ridden in the same surf conditions. the first part of the edit is in really sloppy E-beach - tough to ride no matter whats under your feet
As a shaper I can say it's totally true. I ride a few different hot boards every year to see what's up. This year I ordered a fever and the rails were so fat, absolutely nothing like what the pros are riding. The thing had no drive. It's just so disingenuous marketing to show clips of pros riding boards and then you buy a board with the same dims and it's a totally different board. In the future I won't be buying big brand boards without first looking at the rack boards to see of they are what they are advertised as. To be fair that G-Force board did have the low rails you see in the clips on his Insta. Good on them.
Apparently so, a board that’s shaped perfectly for your volume / shape and style must feel a million bucks compared to these the way they’re ripping the other boards
Would've been cool to get a bit more in-depth than "ohhh man these boards shouldn't be sold man ohh these are crap, get me my custom sled nobody could get their hands on." What was so bad? I'm guessing ultralight glassing for team boards has a big part in this, but what else?
What do they say about a bad workman and his tools? 🤔 but I mean really, aren't the so called pros meant to be promoting surf industry, why run stuff down, I cant see the GOAT being so pratish...
Y’all kinda ruin the sport of surfing for me. How pretentious do you have to be to trash talk a local surf shops boards? Surfing has always been a sport that anyone can excel at regardless of status or income. An by by degrading these “civil surfboards” your also degrading anyone that might look up to you.
I'm sure all the local surf shops out there love to see you guys coming and pissing on their business. To me, you are acting like spoiled brats. These local surf shops are the heart of the surfing sport and industry for the 99.999% of us.
yah as if them 0.1% pro surfers are so much above everyone. i just hate those arrogant pro surfers. we are the freesurf souls they are the brandsponsored dickheads
@@theodoreestienne5492 K... im gonna go to the rack next time and look for them 'civillian boards', Bro. I think you've taken my comment a bit out of context.

Fuck yeahhh! Give this man a Stab! award.
Word, I think u got some real good unknown shapers out there
Gold cone piece for that man
Don’t go out there throwing amazing ideas like that for free!! Lol would be great to see that for sure!! 🤙🏽
yeadat!!!!
Please make this a series, go on a trip with no boards and get some local shapes !!!
Civilian boards? What are you, military surfers?
Immortals
boards for the unsponsored...
Charlie don't surf
Peasant Boards
I'd rather be referred to as a "civilian" surfer ,as a kook ... you KOOK !
and then they had to wait for Mick to stick all his stickers
each sticker give you +1 in speed
this series is so great, please keep making them
Yess! Love this type of content
Hahaha let's ride some "civilian" boards for a laugh! 😂😂
He could have referred to us "civilian" surfers as KOOKS 🤷♂️ ?!
@@neilgouws6962 mere mortals
More of this. Couldn't get a better bunch of people to amaze us with their talent and humble attitudes. Id watch these dudes play cards and chat.
you can clearly see Danes 'civilian' board doesn't have enough volume to keep him afloat.
Really?
Up until Jordy's monster float, I thought he was winning the heat.
Picked up a Fish Stix (Simon Fisher) board in SA a few years back. Went unreal. Loved it & the price.
imagine if it wasn't the civilian model...
@@motoz30 Dane would rip other fish Stix. One i brought had pro like glass job it went ballistic!!! Was the best board I ever brought.
I love my fishstix board, it just does what you want it to do. It's like it's an extension of your own body. Cool to see them on a little stab edit 😁
typical civilian
It's the wax....it's always the wax's fault.
The water sometimes is too salty and that's why I can't get more speed
@@dlopes3584 yeas definitely

they are also for the most part way more dialed in with their equipment than the rest of us...
civilians WAVES and civilians BOARDS... that session makes me fell comfortable with my surfing skills kkkkk
it is entertainning to see them together
Jordy and Dane should do more together they crack me up
This reminds me of a leaping louse video of Capetown in the nineties
The guy in the foreground at 1:57 gets the best moment LOL.
I don't know. I surfed a pro board once and I could barely get it to do anything. Back to my civilian board was much better. Just depends I guess.
might have been a fairer comparison if the stock boards were ridden in the same surf conditions. the first part of the edit is in really sloppy E-beach - tough to ride no matter whats under your feet
That's basically O-side harbor when its firing

We all have a favourite board..
Always love you toooo
These two guys could ride a broom stick and surf better than me
Awesomeness cool yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!
my local surf shop in the beginning!
Jeeeeeeze are boards made in shops performance that much different to the custom boards they get?!
Apparently so, a board that’s shaped perfectly for your volume / shape and style must feel a million bucks compared to these the way they’re ripping the other boards
There’s nothing compared to a custom board made exactly for you n your specifications!! 🤙🏽
I have an old Dane and Peter Mel Board and they do have harder edges, more rocker in the tail compared to the other hps I have
i think the wave quality had something to do with it... the waves are prettyyyy bad and mushy
Pro boards will generally have lighter glass as they don't pay for them so the shapers save money this way
Would've been cool to get a bit more in-depth than "ohhh man these boards shouldn't be sold man ohh these are crap, get me my custom sled nobody could get their hands on." What was so bad? I'm guessing ultralight glassing for team boards has a big part in this, but what else?
Both those boards are allot nicer than mine
Do stab in the dark but pros on civilian boards!
Port Alfred!
They went to the same surf shop I buy wax at!
Vudu?
Dane and jordy ride poor people boards
Not the board,its the rider
Civilian boards! I hate to break the news to you, but you are civilians.
Fishstix make great boards.
Plebian boards, ugh
Artist and song please?
now now lets not blame the boards
prolly the dumbest stab title ever yewww
Those boards looked cool but they were not electric at all in the water. The stock boards made Dane n Jordy look like average surfers.
Don't you wish you were that kind of "average" ...dream on.
its all about the dimensions. those boards are made with other surfers in mind.
Agreed. Looked bad on them, goes to show how different the average off the shelf board is compared to something shaped for a pro
You guys look like average surfers...

they should have said kook boards.
but Whatever bro, these guys are surf clowns riding waves for our entertainment. who cares, you know?
Waves looked pretty junk... not a lot of power and many close outs

Bc the boards you by for $1000 off the rack are just that. Look at the pro model vs what they actually ride.
