Any way to make motherboard or power supply fit replacrments fit? Seems like a huge downside to alienware if anything breaks you have an expensive brick.. not to mention limited hard drive capacity with only a few slots
Thanks for the review. After discounts, I paid $3200 shipped for the R15 with 13th Gen i9 13900 KF, 4090, 32 GB, 2TB, and three years of premium support. Performs well for my needs (which is MW2, Forza, and Photoshop - that's it), there's nothing I would need to "upgrade" or add from here, and just not worried about the heat. I also love the aesthetics, which matters in my home. I considered building my own, spent a lot of time messing around on pcpartpicker, but I couldn't build one at this spec at the discounted price I paid. Without the discount, I probably would've built.....
I bought one used on Dell outlet for $2700 shipped, including taxes. Had upgraded ram and sdd/HD. I spent a lot of time on pc picker as well, but for the price I couldn't resist. My only concern is the thermals and the dust filters. Honestly idk anything about this pcs filters or if it even has any and, another concern is the thermals. I'll be adding some external fans on the side panel vents as intake fans near the gpu and one exhaust fan at the top exhaust vents. But to be perfectly honest, anything under 90c should be fine, and from what I've seen these pcs achieve that stock. Also tunning the fan profiles should help as well as just slightly under volting the cpu. Hope you are enjoying your new pc.
Totally understand your concerns with the R15. I have custom built all my PCs, but with some incredible coupons I was able to stack, I was able to get the 13700K and 4090 for about $2,600 which I could just not pass up. Thousands less than the others available so I couldn’t say no. Doesn’t hurt that a new Command Center is coming out this year.
@@uncouthliyouth4486 Depends on if you know the limitations going in. If you're cool with a lot of proprietary parts and some questionable components, it's not the worst. The R15 is waaaaaay quieter than before, actually impressively so. GPU Temps have been reasonable with CPU Temps a little on the high side, but not bad.
I really like the design and build quality of Alienwares laptops and at CES it looks like Alienware have made some nice changes and upgrades to their laptops, hopefully you can get some of those in to test them but I don’t think I would get their pre-built PC’s. I would definitely go with the Corsair or another better quality less expensive one. Also anything Alienware I buy would be on sale.
@insertnamehere4419 Yap I have x17 and I love it. Good temperature. Always sitting at 68C for Gpu and Cpu around 88C but sometimes jump to 95C. Alienware laptop usually they priorities on cooling Gpu cuz Cpu can take hotter temperature anyway.

I am returning an Alienware m18 with i9 13980HX, RTX4090 and 64GB RAM bc it keeps starting up very slowly, overheats for no reason at all and froze on Skyrim startup. Will be getting this desktop instead I cannot wait for it AND far cheaper at $3700 vs my $4300 m18
That exact model right now is $3700 and I am absolutely pulling the trigger on that purchase. I cannot wait to finally own an Alienware desktop I have always wanted one this video got me excited for it!!
I don’t doubt any of the comparisons/benchmark results. But I will say that I finally sprang for the Alienware because all those prebuilts like Corsair are just so cheaply made: unimaginative, thinly-painted aluminum rectangles, ready to fall apart. The Aurora is a very different story: heavy, glossy, much attention to little details.

It's worth noting that Corsair temporarily drops prices by a couple hundred dollars, seemingly at random. I jumped on the 4080 version of that i7400 when it was $3099 a few weeks ago after watching some of your previous PC reviews. Didn't really have space in my budget for _any_ new computer, but couldn't pass up the deal. Right now, the 4090 version of the i7400 is showing up on their site as $3699 (at least in the US).

If I wasn't a gamer I would definitely go for the Corsair.. I'm a hardcore gamer so I would definitely have to go with the better performance of The alienware.

I recently purchased a pre-built Alienware Aurora 15 (4090 graphics card) through Dell (online). After receiving it, I had nothing but issues with the audio. There would be a “crackling” sound every now and then, while playing games or watching videos. After at least 20 hours of trouble shooting with their tech support, I returned it for another one. 2 weeks later, I received the new one, with guess what…SAME ISSUE. I returned that one and got my $$$ back. I was done and exhausted with Dell. I am guessing there is some hardware issue related to Dell using a cheap mother board, or something. A friend of mine recommended I build my own through Micro Center (computer store in Ohio and other states). I spent the same money ($5,000) and got a much better gaming PC (Ryzen 9 7950x…4090 GPU…64GB D5 RAM @ 6000 mhz…4 TB HD)…This new PC has had zero issues and is truly a dream PC….Use extreme caution buying this Alienware A15, would NOT recommend…..

Nice review! I got mine about 2 weeks ago and love it. Noticed the cpu runs warmer than i like and going to put on better thermal paste to see if that brings it down some. I went with cheap 8gb RAM and threw in some 32gb Corsair Dom Plati RGBs, another 2 TB m.2 and 6tb hdd. I was able to get about $700 off with veteran discount, company discount and current $200 off stacked (dont know how i was allowed to do it but not complaing). I will say your stock m.2 running alittle slow. Mine was at 7149 read and 6306 write on same test. That Corsair I was close to getting myself though and you arte def right on thats a real bang for your buck! I'm happy with the r15 though. Its a beast!

That R13 in particular is the best deal on the market currently over anyone else or anywhere else. Save yourself thousands of dollars and still do everything you want to do. If you do get bored just buy the new graphics card yourself and you would still be saving a ton of money, and you will have the 6700XT as a standby GPU.
Just bought this configuration including 4TB storage (2 TB M.2-PCIe-NVMe + 2 TB SATA) for $3'635.48, directly from Dell. For this kind of quality and power, there aren't many cheaper options around.
ordered r15 for i9+3090+16gb 4800+1tb= $3.6k, includes back cable cover. replaced with Corsair DOMINATOR PLATINUM RGB DDR5 64GB (2x32GB) 5200MHz, and added 990 pro 2tb, total ~4k. will replace 4090 ti in the future. love it because it is like a powerful heater in the winter😂

Dell has wonky pricing. While the pc could be $5100 normally, Dell could run a sale and knock $1,000 or more off. I own the older Alienware designs and cannot recommend them.
Yeah it's really their attempt to suck as much money as they can out of people until they no longer generate any sales. I'm tired of companies that act like people are getting a deal when they are really just bringing the price down closer to normal

Great video, appreciate what you do on the channel. I just got mine, 13900k, 4090, 64MB RAM, 4GB SSD for $4100 in the sale they did last week. Alienware is like the rest, pricing and promos change frequently. For what I paid, I think it's a fair value vs. what's on the market, and the performance so far is off the charts compared to my last build. Agree on the points you made around the motherboard and case, but unless you are going to do it yourself, or want to pay ultra premium pricing, Alienware is a good route.
(2nd post for full review ) Failed to mention that Dell offers HUGE discounts, and you know they do Justin. SO why not talk about it in your review. I got 20% off my r15 by using dell coupons that I googled for. So that take away your price argument. You also made a huge deal about the space between the graphics card and the psu. Yet the 4090 runs well in the safe range around 70-74c from my experience with the same computer. Highly recommend upgrade cpu thermal paste. My r15 doesnt go over 70c while 4k gaming while running background apps. Also got 38,000+ during cinebench r23.

This review is probably the best gaming desktop review channel so far I found on youtube. A humble suggestion to the only flaw I found: if you are displaying the temperature value, it would be very helpful if you can unify them all as Celsius or as Fahrenheit, or display a Celsius degree value besides the Fahrenheit. Very neat. The mobo on my R11 just (quite literally) went up in smoke, so I'm having to get it repaired and/or get a new pc. I know without a doubt to avoid this formfactor, so I'll be looking at the others you mentioned

I purchased this desktop at computer Micro Store. The unit had been a display for 2 months. I purchased it for $2550.00. I added a 4TB SSD, 32GB Ram and switched out the 1TB HHD for a 18TB HDD. I am very impressed with the system. The graphics card was selling for $2200.00. It would have be stupid to pass up the deal!
I got mine, 13th gen I9 13900KF, 4090, Asus Z790-A, 64GB 6200Mhz RAM, 3TB SSD Storage, Nzxt h510 flow Chassi for $5000. I don’t know what to feel about the price since it’s my very first gaming pc ever.
Most important thing to remember is you should never pay asking price. I called DELL and said hey im a loyal customer what is the best price i can get this pc for? Long story short it was (USD): $4,391.21 for the following: 13900KF Windows 11 home 4090 64GB 5200 mhz ram 2tb NVMe M.2 Cryotech cooling Dark Side of the Moon 1350w PSU 1 year warranty No keyboards, mice, or software. DO NOT PAY THE ASKING PRICE!! Basically, talked about the Corsair PC and how much more you could get for that then DELL. The only game they tried was to not match the 64 gigs of slower 5200 mhz ram (On the Vengence). But when i said well thanks im gonna go with Corsair they called me back in less than a minute and matched it. Its still more money but its $800+ cheaper with a 5 minute phone call. Also I put it on the DELL credit card so even though I can pay it instantly this will give me another $130 in free stuff from the Dell Store so i may get a super nice headset or keyboard etc. I am not saying this is the best pc on the market. But i watched the previous preview video and noticed the "noise" seemed to be lower on this one then the others. To me that is important.

I've been waiting for this review! I have a R15 sitting next to me with a 13600kf and a 4090 and I dont know how to feel about it without this review!!! Finally!!! Lol. Love how you do your reviews. I got the cheapest ram and hard drive from Dell and bought those elsewhere to save money. Thermals seem good to me and my time spy results meet the average results for my hardware.

The price to fps ratio doesn't justify that price. Have you tried the Overclock 02 profile on yours? Everytime I changed it to that in the Alienware Command Center, it crashed my PC.
@JustinTechTips yeah I use the OC2 profile. It seems glitchy and says I can't apply the overclock but monitoring the performance even in AWCC it appears the overclock to my cpu and ram (5600c36) do get applied. I dont overclock my gpu at all though. Worried about starting a fire lol. With OC2 enabled I got GPU35808 CPU16083 and combined30244 for time spy. For cinebench23 I got 2121 single and 23170 multi. I only got the 13600kf though... I think it fits better with the thermals on a 240aio and it usually beats the 12900k in gaming benchmarks. The 13900k is waay better for multicore performance but has a very minor fps boost in games compared to the 13600k in my opinion
So what I seen was, the Corsair has more and better ram but still seems to fall a little under in performance. And then we talk about price on the Alienware without mentioning that NO ONE pays retail on Alienware. My R15 4090 like we have here, with upgraded to the faster DDR5 ram and 2TB of SSD space, and 2TB HDD space, no.rear cover (it's for a sim rig, ya won't see the PC anyway) with current discounts cost me 3300 taxes and shipping included. And I'll be interested in the thermals because your tests show it hotter than everyone else's tests who I've watched. The Corsair is probably great, but the customer support and way dell treats people for me, is worth the purchase most of the other builders I've talked to were basically useless. Either tried to get me to cheap out, or told me I'd be stupid not to buy the absolute most expensive thing they can build.
Thanks for the quick review of the updated R15. It is good to know the thermals are better and performance has jumped considerably. Is R15, as shown in your review, worth $3000 pre-taxed? I have an Alienware Area-51 R2, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5960X CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz, 32 GB Memory (DIMM,8GB,2133,2RX8,4G, DDR4, NU), three Nvidia GTX Titan X graphics cards in SLI. The system still plays everything I want at full specs on a 1440 display with no issues and has many additional hard drives. The $3400 mark might be worth an upgrade, but I don't know how many hard drives I can add. The Area-51 R2 has one 4GB mechanical drive and 4 SSDs with plenty of space. I do not look forward to transferring everything to a new machine, but I am tempted to purchase this system at $3000. Thoughts
@Peterson Family are you referring to this version from Best Buy? bestbuy.7tiv.net/AoLKN7 I can't seem to get anything close to 3000 pre taxed on Dell's website when selecting the specs that I have in the version I reviewed. The R15 has 2 NVME SSD slots total and 2 more 2.5" SATA SSD bays in the back. And 2 3.5" SATA Hard Drive slots on the bottom of the back. If you can get the 4090 with a 13th Gen i9, then yeah I would say that's a pretty good deal!

I want to upgrade to 5200 memory for $50, Windows 11 Pro for $95 (seems high), and will need another 2 GB minimum NVme SSD and thought to upgrade to 4TB NVme SSD in stead of 1TB + 1TB combo, but that is another $550 which seems really high.
I purchased the R15 and upgraded the Memory to the 5200 Mhz option for $50 and Windows 11 Pro for $95. Instead of upgrading to a 4TB drive for $550 through Dell, I left it as a 1TB SSD and 1TB Mechanical drive. I purchased the Crucial - P3 Plus 4TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe for $264 instead to use as my secondary drive using rebates I had, reducing the cost more. I also purchased two JEYI M.2 HeatSink, Heavy Duty Aluminum Convective Heat Sink, Passive Heat Sinks with Fins, (30℃ Drops Max) FinsCold Seris Godfins001 to go on each SSD to help reduce heat some. I had wanted to get new gaming monitors, and the 4090 and much faster CPU were needed to run a newer gaming monitor. I will be trying out the 49" Samsung Odyssey Neo G9NA, crossing my fingers there is no issue, or two 32" Odyssey Neo G7 4K monitors. I have been really happy with my existing Alienware Area-51 R2 system and will set it up as my son's machine. I have tried several of the newly designed Alienware R series over the years and returned them all for excessive heat, but I think this R15, with more fans and an open design to allow airflow, will work. If not, it will go back. Thanks again for your review. It was constructive for my purchase decision. Yikes, I just watched your Corsair Vengeance review and questioning my decision. Agreed, Dell has wasted too much space, and even though the design is cooler there is NO room for expansion, unlike the really cool and expansive Cosair system. I wish I would have checked prices during President's sales. Do the Corsair go on sale?

@@JustinTechTips yes it is amazing but with my r12 3080it was really not enough to push it. This is going to be so awesome with the 4090 I know it’s very pricey, but you get for what you pay for and to me it’s worth the money the graphics are insane
Here is an idea for testing out super computers, try testing it out with extremely high tech games (I would recommend Cyberpunk 2077) I would use this tactic to test your computer to see if it runs well for those games (atleast 40 FPS or more)

Alienware just finished a promotion offering this PC for $3,300. After watching your video, part of me wishes I would have taken it. The upgradeability is a real concern, but the price to performance ration for $3,300 here is crazy.

In all fairness. I got the top of the line R15, with 4tb of nvme, 64gb of ddr5 5200, with all the other stuff for $3900. Which cost to performance would then beat out your go to corsair.

alright i was doin research on the r15 cuz it looks nice and dell really does have a good advertising campaign on it but i checked the reviews and people said it had issues but now after watching ur vid im sold on the corsair vengeance i7400 lol
Alienware also gives a military discount and it stacks with any sale price. Bought mine fully loaded for 3200 and absolutely zero complaints with Dell or the machine.

The problem I encountered is when the computer goes into “SLEEP MODE”. For some reason, my system DOES NOT stay off while it is in “sleep mode”. In the contrary, it keeps turning on/off continually. I also notice when the computer goes into “sleep mode” all the lights in the system go off except the video card. For some reason, it stays on (even during sleep mode). Is this normal? Have you encountered this problem before? Thank you for any information you can provide.

Hi Justin! How did you get such a high Cinebench R23 and Time Spy score? I got my R15 today and it is the exact same spec as yours 13900 KF and 4090 with 32Gb DDR5 4800Mhz ram. My Cinebench R23 score was 30,798 vs your 35,000 and time spy score of 29,430 (33,552 graphics and 17,352 CPU) vs your 30.013 (34,855 and 16,795). The only thing I did was updated drivers and bios via support assist and then updated the nvidia drivers via GeForce. Did you do anything else prior to your benchmarks?
Alienware sale ends on the 20th, just got this beast for 2,200 (450$ off). This is the first time I have seen your video as I'm considering to buy Alienware R15. However, I'm kind of confused from this video: sometimes you compare the Alienware R15 to Corsair i7300 and sometimes to Corsair a7300. It is not correct to compare 2 different PCs as being the better one. Could you please pick one that is better? Also, is the Corsair all configurable/upgrade-able?

A Corsair build kit is the easiest way to build a PC from scratch without worrying about things not working or components being compatible with each other. @vys0311 for 240fps you could maybe hit with low settings on Fortnight with a 1300 PC but definitely not Epic settings. Currently experiencing some buyer's remorse, I might be able to live with this R15?
Dang I've had several comments like this where people have snagged the Dell Arena discount. I wonder if they'll ever do that again with this PC or if it was just in the beginning to get people hyped. Those are some serious savings
Have you tested the R15 version with the 7950X? The sad thing with the thermals is so much heat trapped near the top, so the radiator doesn't seem to have a real outflow path

Thanks for the review. After discounts, I paid $3200 shipped for the R15 with 13th Gen i9 13900 KF, 4090, 32 GB, 2TB, and three years of premium support. Performs well for my needs (which is MW2, Forza, and Photoshop - that's it), there's nothing I would need to "upgrade" or add from here, and just not worried about the heat. I also love the aesthetics, which matters in my home. I considered building my own, spent a lot of time messing around on pcpartpicker, but I couldn't build one at this spec at the discounted price I paid. Without the discount, I probably would've built.....
I bought one used on Dell outlet for $2700 shipped, including taxes. Had upgraded ram and sdd/HD. I spent a lot of time on pc picker as well, but for the price I couldn't resist. My only concern is the thermals and the dust filters. Honestly idk anything about this pcs filters or if it even has any and, another concern is the thermals. I'll be adding some external fans on the side panel vents as intake fans near the gpu and one exhaust fan at the top exhaust vents. But to be perfectly honest, anything under 90c should be fine, and from what I've seen these pcs achieve that stock. Also tunning the fan profiles should help as well as just slightly under volting the cpu. Hope you are enjoying your new pc.

Totally understand your concerns with the R15. I have custom built all my PCs, but with some incredible coupons I was able to stack, I was able to get the 13700K and 4090 for about $2,600 which I could just not pass up. Thousands less than the others available so I couldn’t say no. Doesn’t hurt that a new Command Center is coming out this year.

@@uncouthliyouth4486 Depends on if you know the limitations going in. If you're cool with a lot of proprietary parts and some questionable components, it's not the worst. The R15 is waaaaaay quieter than before, actually impressively so. GPU Temps have been reasonable with CPU Temps a little on the high side, but not bad.

I really like the design and build quality of Alienwares laptops and at CES it looks like Alienware have made some nice changes and upgrades to their laptops, hopefully you can get some of those in to test them but I don’t think I would get their pre-built PC’s. I would definitely go with the Corsair or another better quality less expensive one. Also anything Alienware I buy would be on sale.
Laptops are a different animal, but their desktops...just no dude. Stay away. RUN away.
@insertnamehere4419 Yap I have x17 and I love it. Good temperature. Always sitting at 68C for Gpu and Cpu around 88C but sometimes jump to 95C. Alienware laptop usually they priorities on cooling Gpu cuz Cpu can take hotter temperature anyway.

I am returning an Alienware m18 with i9 13980HX, RTX4090 and 64GB RAM bc it keeps starting up very slowly, overheats for no reason at all and froze on Skyrim startup. Will be getting this desktop instead I cannot wait for it AND far cheaper at $3700 vs my $4300 m18

I don’t doubt any of the comparisons/benchmark results. But I will say that I finally sprang for the Alienware because all those prebuilts like Corsair are just so cheaply made: unimaginative, thinly-painted aluminum rectangles, ready to fall apart. The Aurora is a very different story: heavy, glossy, much attention to little details.
I picked one up fully specced out for $3500. i9, 4090, 64gb ddr5 5200, 6 TB of storage. I felt like that was a pretty solid deal.

I started on it actually before Christmas but then took some time off with the family on vacation, and then went to CES for almost a week, and then I decided to finish my testing on the Corsair Vengeance a7300 so I would have another next gen PC to compare the R15 to in the full review. Next reviews are coming a lot quicker. The Corsair Vengeance Review will be early next week
It's worth noting that Corsair temporarily drops prices by a couple hundred dollars, seemingly at random. I jumped on the 4080 version of that i7400 when it was $3099 a few weeks ago after watching some of your previous PC reviews. Didn't really have space in my budget for _any_ new computer, but couldn't pass up the deal. Right now, the 4090 version of the i7400 is showing up on their site as $3699 (at least in the US).

I recently purchased a pre-built Alienware Aurora 15 (4090 graphics card) through Dell (online). After receiving it, I had nothing but issues with the audio. There would be a “crackling” sound every now and then, while playing games or watching videos. After at least 20 hours of trouble shooting with their tech support, I returned it for another one. 2 weeks later, I received the new one, with guess what…SAME ISSUE. I returned that one and got my $$$ back. I was done and exhausted with Dell. I am guessing there is some hardware issue related to Dell using a cheap mother board, or something. A friend of mine recommended I build my own through Micro Center (computer store in Ohio and other states). I spent the same money ($5,000) and got a much better gaming PC (Ryzen 9 7950x…4090 GPU…64GB D5 RAM @ 6000 mhz…4 TB HD)…This new PC has had zero issues and is truly a dream PC….Use extreme caution buying this Alienware A15, would NOT recommend…..

Great news! I just got the R15 with 64g ddr5 for 3800! not sure where that puts it now but its damn sexy. And I just dont like the box look.
Nice review! I got mine about 2 weeks ago and love it. Noticed the cpu runs warmer than i like and going to put on better thermal paste to see if that brings it down some. I went with cheap 8gb RAM and threw in some 32gb Corsair Dom Plati RGBs, another 2 TB m.2 and 6tb hdd. I was able to get about $700 off with veteran discount, company discount and current $200 off stacked (dont know how i was allowed to do it but not complaing). I will say your stock m.2 running alittle slow. Mine was at 7149 read and 6306 write on same test. That Corsair I was close to getting myself though and you arte def right on thats a real bang for your buck! I'm happy with the r15 though. Its a beast!

There isnt anything much better than this right now for the value. I've checked everywhere, and this deal is a steal.
With this you get the quality and luxury of Alienware along with Alienware / Dell software, warranty, and support.
You also get the ability to upgrade significantly to anything else you want yourself. Because the motherboard and 750Watt power supply are capable of the current higher end cards.
Yet, if you wanted to get those cards from Alienware even with the Summer Sale you will still be paying a premium. So don't get anything else from Dell / Alienware right now. You can buy the upgrades from Amazon or Newegg and put them in yourself if that is the route you are wanting to go.
Although, understand this current R13 is still a really good gaming computer in of its self. Only thing you might want to do additionally is add additional harddrive space, and more Ram. But be sure to purchase those from Amazon because Alienware will charge you a large premium if you add those upgrades on the website. Remember that.
Regardless this R13 alone is a steal, and you cannot build this same computer yourself for less. Dell/Alienware is really helping folks out with this computer.
The RX 6700 XT with the 12th Gen Intel CPU is plenty to play really any PC game people play these days.
If you want more power later on. Just upgrade yourself because you can, and do the purchases from Amazon or Newegg. You will save a ton of money.
As I said dont add the upgrades on the Dell website because it is designed to charge expensive premiums, and you wont be getting the best deal then.
Pay $1200 for a really nice and quality Alienware computer. Still Play your favorite games with the very nice 12th gen intel CPU and the really nice AMD 6700 XT.
Its a win all around. Save yourself thousands of dollars and still do everything you want to do. If you do get bored just buy the new graphics card yourself and you would still be saving a ton of money, and you will have the 6700XT as a standby GPU.
This PC is on sale right now for $2,899, and that's with a Ryzen 9 and 4090. A total steal if you ask me.

Dell has wonky pricing. While the pc could be $5100 normally, Dell could run a sale and knock $1,000 or more off. I own the older Alienware designs and cannot recommend them.

Great video, appreciate what you do on the channel. I just got mine, 13900k, 4090, 64MB RAM, 4GB SSD for $4100 in the sale they did last week. Alienware is like the rest, pricing and promos change frequently. For what I paid, I think it's a fair value vs. what's on the market, and the performance so far is off the charts compared to my last build.
Agree on the points you made around the motherboard and case, but unless you are going to do it yourself, or want to pay ultra premium pricing, Alienware is a good route.

(2nd post for full review ) Failed to mention that Dell offers HUGE discounts, and you know they do Justin. SO why not talk about it in your review. I got 20% off my r15 by using dell coupons that I googled for. So that take away your price argument. You also made a huge deal about the space between the graphics card and the psu. Yet the 4090 runs well in the safe range around 70-74c from my experience with the same computer. Highly recommend upgrade cpu thermal paste. My r15 doesnt go over 70c while 4k gaming while running background apps. Also got 38,000+ during cinebench r23.

This review is probably the best gaming desktop review channel so far I found on youtube. A humble suggestion to the only flaw I found: if you are displaying the temperature value, it would be very helpful if you can unify them all as Celsius or as Fahrenheit, or display a Celsius degree value besides the Fahrenheit. I purchased this desktop at computer Micro Store. The unit had been a display for 2 months. I purchased it for $2550.00. I added a 4TB SSD, 32GB Ram and switched out the 1TB HHD for a 18TB HDD. I am very impressed with the system. The graphics card was selling for $2200.00. It would have be stupid to pass up the deal!

The only game they tried was to not match the 64 gigs of slower 5200 mhz ram (On the Vengence). But when i said well thanks im gonna go with Corsair they called me back in less than a minute and matched it. Its still more money but its $800+ cheaper with a 5 minute phone call. Also I put it on the DELL credit card so even though I can pay it instantly this will give me another $130 in free stuff from the Dell Store so i may get a super nice headset or keyboard etc. I am not saying this is the best pc on the market. But i watched the previous preview video and noticed the "noise" seemed to be lower on this one then the others. To me that is important.

I've been waiting for this review! I have a R15 sitting next to me with a 13600kf and a 4090 and I dont know how to feel about it without this review!!! Finally!!! Lol. Love how you do your reviews. I got the cheapest ram and hard drive from Dell and bought those elsewhere to save money. Thermals seem good to me and my time spy results meet the average results for my hardware.
Yeah sorry it took so long. I started on it actually before Christmas but then took some time off with the family on vacation, and then went to CES for almost a week, and then I decided to finish my testing on the Corsair Vengeance a7300 so I would have another next gen PC to compare the R15 to in the full review. Yeah I was pretty impressed with the 3D Mark Timespy score and gaming FPS was really good but it is pretty ridiculous how much Dell is charging for it. The price to fps ratio doesn't justify that price. Have you tried the Overclock 02 profile on yours? Everytime I changed it to that in the Alienware Command Center, it crashed my PC.
@JustinTechTips yeah I use the OC2 profile. It seems glitchy and says I can't apply the overclock but monitoring the performance even in AWCC it appears the overclock to my cpu and ram (5600c36) do get applied. I dont overclock my gpu at all though. Worried about starting a fire lol. With OC2 enabled I got GPU35808 CPU16083 and combined30244 for time spy. For cinebench23 I got 2121 single and 23170 multi. I only got the 13600kf though... I think it fits better with the thermals on a 240aio and it usually beats the 12900k in gaming benchmarks. The 13900k is waay better for multicore performance but has a very minor fps boost in games compared to the 13600k in my opinion

So what I seen was, the Corsair has more and better ram but still seems to fall a little under in performance. And then we talk about price on the Alienware without mentioning that NO ONE pays retail on Alienware. My R15 4090 like we have here, with upgraded to the faster DDR5 ram and 2TB of SSD space, and 2TB HDD space, no.rear cover (it's for a sim rig, ya won't see the PC anyway) with current discounts cost me 3300 taxes and shipping included. And I'll be interested in the thermals because your tests show it hotter than everyone else's tests who I've watched. The Corsair is probably great, but the customer support and way dell treats people for me, is worth the purchase most of the other builders I've talked to were basically useless. Either tried to get me to cheap out, or told me I'd be stupid not to buy the absolute most expensive thing they can build.
Thanks for the quick review of the updated R15. It is good to know the thermals are better and performance has jumped considerably. Is R15, as shown in your review, worth $3000 pre-taxed? I have an Alienware Area-51 R2, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5960X CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz, 32 GB Memory (DIMM,8GB,2133,2RX8,4G, DDR4, NU), three Nvidia GTX Titan X graphics cards in SLI. The system still plays everything I want at full specs on a 1440 display with no issues and has many additional hard drives. The $3400 mark might be worth an upgrade, but I don't know how many hard drives I can add. The Area-51 R2 has one 4GB mechanical drive and 4 SSDs with plenty of space. I do not look forward to transferring everything to a new machine, but I am tempted to purchase this system at $3000. Thoughts
@Peterson Family are you referring to this version from Best Buy? bestbuy.7tiv.net/AoLKN7 I can't seem to get anything close to 3000 pre taxed on Dell's website when selecting the specs that I have in the version I reviewed. The R15 has 2 NVME SSD slots total and 2 more 2.5" SATA SSD bays in the back. And 2 3.5" SATA Hard Drive slots on the bottom of the back. If you can get the 4090 with a 13th Gen i9, then yeah I would say that's a pretty good deal!

I want to upgrade to 5200 memory for $50, Windows 11 Pro for $95 (seems high), and will need another 2 GB minimum NVme SSD and thought to upgrade to 4TB NVme SSD in stead of 1TB + 1TB combo, but that is another $550 which seems really high.
I purchased the R15 and upgraded the Memory to the 5200 Mhz option for $50 and Windows 11 Pro for $95. Instead of upgrading to a 4TB drive for $550 through Dell, I left it as a 1TB SSD and 1TB Mechanical drive. I purchased the Crucial - P3 Plus 4TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe for $264 instead to use as my secondary drive using rebates I had, reducing the cost more. I also purchased two JEYI M.2 HeatSink, Heavy Duty Aluminum Convective Heat Sink, Passive Heat Sinks with Fins, (30℃ Drops Max) FinsCold Seris Godfins001 to go on each SSD to help reduce heat some. I had wanted to get new gaming monitors, and the 4090 and much faster CPU were needed to run a newer gaming monitor. I will be trying out the 49" Samsung Odyssey Neo G9NA, crossing my fingers there is no issue, or two 32" Odyssey Neo G7 4K monitors. I have been really happy with my existing Alienware Area-51 R2 system and will set it up as my son's machine. I have tried several of the newly designed Alienware R series over the years and returned them all for excessive heat, but I think this R15, with more fans and an open design to allow airflow, will work. If not, it will go back. Thanks again for your review. It was constructive for my purchase decision. Yikes, I just watched your Corsair Vengeance review and questioning my decision. Agreed, Dell has wasted too much space, and even though the design is cooler there is NO room for expansion, unlike the really cool and expansive Cosair system. Here is an idea for testing out super computers, try testing it out with extremely high tech games (I would recommend Cyberpunk 2077) I would use this tactic to test your computer to see if it runs well for those games (atleast 40 FPS or more)

Alienware also gives a military discount and it stacks with any sale price. Bought mine fully loaded for 3200 and absolutely zero complaints with Dell or the machine.

I love the computer but there is a problem I have encountered, and I would like to hear your input.
The problem I encountered is when the computer goes into “SLEEP MODE”. For some reason, my system DOES NOT stay off while it is in “sleep mode”. In the contrary, it keeps turning on/off continually. I also notice when the computer goes into “sleep mode” all the lights in the system go off except the video card. For some reason, it stays on (even during sleep mode). Is this normal? Have you encountered this problem before? Thank you for any information you can provide.

How did you get such a high Cinebench R23 and Time Spy score? I got my R15 today and it is the exact same spec as yours 13900 KF and 4090 with 32Gb DDR5 4800Mhz ram. My Cinebench R23 score was 30,798 vs your 35,000 and time spy score of 29,430 (33,552 graphics and 17,352 CPU) vs your 30.013 (34,855 and 16,795). The only thing I did was updated drivers and bios via support assist and then updated the nvidia drivers via GeForce. Did you do anything else prior to your benchmarks?
Alienware sale ends on the 20th, just got this beast for 2,200 (450$ off). I know the GPU isn't nuts but I turn all my settings down for more FPS anyway and 12gb of VRam is all you need, just wish it had the 5800 mhz memory because thats what it can support.

You have to attach the provided antenna on the back of the system to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

@vys0311 for 240fps you could maybe hit with low settings on Fortnight with a 1300 PC but definitely not Epic settings. I think they made a mistake with your user manual - my Aurora R15 came with the correct manual, which does mention the WiFi antennas too.
Oh nice. Yeah I thought that was really weird they did that. Not sure how they make a mistake like that.
It's also important to note that those antennas cover Bluetooth too. If you're using a Bluetooth controller or similar, you WILL want to plug them in

Dell Arena had a limited distribution of 20% off coupons, as well Dell was honoring an additional 5% off if you financed through Dell Financial Services. This brought the price down to $3,357.67. Currently experiencing some buyer's remorse, I might be able to live with this R15?
