The horseshoe crab of the MTB world. It's been around for over 15 years with little to no design changes. God's perfect shock.
Perfect shock is the Canecreek double barrel
@giorgiolazzarin8551 The one built with help from Ohlins? Are they that good? I see them on a bunch of old bikes, and my bro has a kitsuma that he loves.
@@kingflynxi9420no dont waste your money on its 💩 no offense no Even a personal Issue many friends had a lot of problems with it, my experience 14 years in downhill, marzochhi Way better
Ive swapped from the DHX2 to the CR. It sat around for TWO YEARS in my parts bin. Installed it and it felt brilliant. Rebound slowed down by 2 clicks, compression up by 3 clicks. So simple yet effective, also the DHX2s are prone to leaking, never had that issue with any CR. Just very reliable.
I've had my CR for a couple of years now and have no complaints about its durability. I bent the bolts mounting the shock to the frame doing big jumps (I'm 85kg), but the shaft has held up to the challenge
I've read a few horror stories on coil shocks snapping shafts on the specialized e-bikes. The bomber air shock still continues to impress me on my Kenevo.
What token you got in it?
@@OtterMTBtech I don't have any in there at all. I've yet to bottom the bike out. I have a bit of a weird sounding setup. Stock shock is 62.5mm stroke, I run a 65mm stroke shock (gives almost 190mm travel out back) but I run my sag as if it was 62.5mm. so I'm at 30% of 62.5mm, sounds weird but it makes the bike feel bottomless.
Snapped a dhx 5.0 right at the plunger on an intense m3 lol. It didnt fold like in those photos tho thank god. Just blew apart like a car shock coil when i went to service it lmao
possible problems If the shaft of the shock breaks are:
1)the bushings are gone
2) frame is not stiff enough and can push the shock in a non rectilinear movement
@@giorgiolazzarin8551 in my case, bushings were def shot and i was riding a spring 50 pounds too light doing urban riding and 6 ft drops to flat
Nice pants 👖. I love my otter pants. I live in Florida where it’s as hot as the sun 🌞. They breathe better than any other brand. Thank you for a great product.
Glad to hear, they are made in same factory as most of the big brands. Custom designed the pattern or outline. Failed miserably to sell them.
Cost is $40 per pair, material cost a fortunate why they stretch and breath good.
Got a CR on my 161mm and it rides/feels great. Damping works great. Got the fox orange spring and it weights less than the FLOAT X2 it replaced
I also want to replace a Float X2! Are you happy with the change?
@@sebastiancaniulao1725 yes
Clevis compatible?? I thought about this one for my Ripmo last season but was warned off. I take it the narrow stanchion means no
New video so soon?! Awesome!
A status and a emtb is about all a man could need
Basically the same as the Fox DHX no? Heard both have high speed compression set too firm from the factory, especially for lighter riders, which hinders small bump suppleness
It’s the same shock as old school Fox Van shock is what I said. Deep Dive into Fox’s MOST unpopular Shock
ua-cam.com/video/aB-mxvKY3wU/v-deo.html
What you said about DHX is facts
The dhx coil is the same damper as the float x shock. The dhx2 is the same damper as the float x2. Regardless, get the bomber cr/van r tuned, and it will perform just as good as a dhx2 for a lot less money. ALSO, whatever you do, do not ever run it on a yoke bike. You'll absolutely nuke the poor thing.
an oldschool Fox DHX 3.0 should be similar i think
i had one on my trail bike and i blew it up 3 times in 6 months
Torn between the Bomber CR, Voro or a used Kitsuma for $100 more on a Spire? 230lb rider. Currently on a Tigon with my Ripmo and it’s amazing. Just don’t want to spend as much with the Spire since it’s limited to mostly bike park usage.
No brainer Voro. I have video of it. 14mm steel stanchion
Had this on my status 160 keeps blowing up my compression any of you had issue
Listening too x
Between this shock and the SR Suntour Voro coil, which is the one to get? Currently they are the same price.
What bike
@@OtterMTBtech Vitus E-Mythique with a trunnion shock.
I’d go Suntour it looks like a bit long travel ebike. Make sure the piggyback will clear on full compression. Bomber is good option and easy to get serviced anywhere
Hello, I have a Bomber CR with a 450 spring on a rocky mountain altitude with a 95kg rider weight, and i think that I need a bigger spring rate 500/550. what s your body weight and spring rate?
I have a altitude powerplay and ride a 500 at 185 pounds
@@tylerkeys8267 Hello, first of all thank you for your reply. How do you feel it ? from what I read at 91-92kg, that is 200 pounds, a spring of 520-550 would be the most suitable for me.
Hi @OtterMTBtech here in Germany the Bomber CR retails for 420€. I could also get a 2023 FOX DHX2 Performance Elite for 300€ or 2023/22 FOX DHX2 Factory for 350€
I am absolutely new to coils and would upgrade from a RockShox Super Deluxe Select+.
Which one would you recommend?
Cheers!
What bike first
@@OtterMTBtech it’s a Santa Cruz heckler ebike from 2023, thank you
@@e0fx the dhx2 is much better with hsc for you to tune the bottom out
@@OtterMTBtech thank you, I much appreciate it
When’s the New Ultra Plush overhyped Fox X2 reviews boiiii?

The new ‘24 has a massive negative token and it’s not plush. Here is how you fix it
Loossk like DNM😂 best money you can buy for the most rowdy trails
What is a yoke bike? Sorry, kind of ignorant on this topic.
Not ignorant at all. It’s a u shaped piece of metal that drives the shock. Certain bikes have them and it creates a massive load on the shock.
dont buy yoked bikes. the bike industry has to realize that yokes are bad engineering practice. technically this also applies for trunnion shocks.
How is the rhythm fox 36 treating you on the status, my experience with it on my status has been awful.
The 160 Rhythm is really hard to dial in. Over stroke it 10mm really helps.
Classic 14 years old technology. It is meh, meanwhile my 15 yo RC4 is so reliable and have at least 400 bikepark days between the Alps and Whistler
I was looking for one at the moment (222x70) but they are so hard to find here in europe. Have you been on other shocks or tried other bikes in the last few years? How do they compare performance-wise to the rc4?
@@HannyDart The other bikes i have and ride are enduros and they are air shocks. The RockShox Super Deluxe Coil Ultimate is probably the best option and pretty reliable.
